In 2014, we saw the new & way better improved American version of Godzilla. Well, here we are with shin Godzilla, the remake of thee original 1954 Godzilla, which will will always be the best ever made. Toho studios absolutely hands don the greatest production company to ever bring the best films on earth. With that said, shin Godzilla. Before I get to the film, I'd like to say that, the music & sounds are from thee original Japan version, some of it that is. But the music is outstanding! The story to this film is very political, & so much different from any other. If you can recognize one of thee actors in this film you know what film & films he's been in the past. Godzilla, he is wicked in this film, if he went up against American Godzilla, shin would destroy him in 60 seconds flat. The look & everything that is within Zilla you will see him unleashed in very mind blowing way. I'm not going to give out much more, so. With all that said, pay really close attention to thee ending & I mean really close, cause it is very very, big question of what's to come next for the Sequal, pause it if you have to to see the details of it.

I am glad I picked up Shin Godzilla. I am a fan of the old Toho Production Godzilla films and was sad when they were not going to make any more. When the Americas took over and made the two Godzilla movies in 2000 and 2014 it did not have the true Godzilla feel. The 2014 version came closer but not true to the original Toho Productions. I am glad that Toho Productions decided to make Shin Godzilla which is a reboot of Gojira. I saw some of the reviews and one of them said this was a new look for Godzilla, actually this the original look of Godzilla but with a few tweaks. The visuals for this movie was fantastic and the English dubbing was matched pretty well. This movie has been added to my original Godzilla collection. Can’t wait for more sequels in the future. So if you are a Godzilla fan, go out and pick up a copy of this movie and grab a few extras for your close friends, that is what I did the rest of them I highly recommend this movie.

Shin Godzilla is a great return of the giant monster we all know and love. While it can be a little boring when the movie sticks to the humans for a while, that's kinda the standard for Godzilla movies. Overall, a good reboot from Toho. Personally, it's more fitting to watch it with English subtitles rather than watching the English Dub. Not that the Dub is bad, of course. It just seems better to watch the original voices, regardless if you have to read subtitles. It's worth the watch, really.

I saw it during the limited U.S. theatrical run and knew that I had to get it. This is different from other Godzilla movies that Toho has produced so it is not for everyone. There is a lot of dialog and deliberation on the part of the Japanese government but I was never bored or disinterested. The original Godzilla (Gojira) was a allegory to the atomic bombings of WWII, and this one is an allegory to the recent nuclear plant meltdowns and how the bureaucracy reacted to the threat.

I went in to this movie cold, not reading any reviews to avoid spoilers so I was a little surprised over all. The new look for Godzilla is pretty awesome. We see him very early in the movie but be warned, there is a whole lot of the Japanese government talking. I'm sure that was the point of the director to highlight the bureaucracy but I'll be honest it was a little much. The times we do see Godzilla running amok do make the movie worth it over all. I thought the new version was fun and different. If you're a real Godzilla fan I would say pick this up. If you're a casual fan or a curious first timer I would say pass on this one.

Shin Godzilla is not your typical Godzilla movie. It is more of a reality show that hones in on a crisis. It shows the lack of a clear plan in case of crisis - in this case an earthquake caused by Godzilla. The viewer sees the lack of cohesion and the hesitation that people in power can have in a time of crisis. It's not for everyone. It's sophisticated and in many instances hard to follow if you do not stay focused on the various characters. However, it gives the viewer an idea of what was going on in Japan after Fukushima.

This Blu-Ray is pretty bare bones in regards to Bonus Features, but the video presentation is excellent. The fob is interested in 2.1 channel audio, which is a bit disappointing, but the I believe the film was originally done this way. It still sounds great! The alternate audio tracks and language subtitles give you some options for how you wish to watch. Overall, a good presentation. The film itself is a flawed but bold and mostly fantastic update of the Godzilla origin story, and is at times chilling. Pick this one up!

How can you possibly make Godzilla scarier? I don;t know but these guys did it. Bringing Godzilla into the tweet first century the new Godzilla is more powerful a lot uglier and is threat to all of humanity. Some of the post nuances maybe lost on American audiences but the filmmakers put some low key social political commentary inside the film about the current state of affairs inside Japan. It plays in the background as the new Godzilla rampages across Tokyo. Highly recommend.
