Synopsis

Shrek the Third
Shrek and Fiona's (Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz, respectively) fairy-tale wedding has gone off without a hitch, yet just as the beaming newlyweds prepare to enjoy their blissful "happily ever after," the sudden death of King Harold (John Cleese) finds everyone's favorite ornery ogre being reluctantly fitted for the royal crown. Troubled to learn that not only will he be compelled to rule Far Far Away, but that he and Fiona are also expecting a little ogre, Shrek determines to track down his new bride's rebellious cousin, Artie (Justin Timberlake) -- the one true heir to the throne -- in order to focus on fatherhood without the added distraction of having to preside over the kingdom. As Shrek sets out with faithful companions Donkey (Eddie Murphy) and Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) to locate the medieval high-school slacker and bring him back to become the reigning sovereign of Far Far Away, handsome snake Prince Charming (Rupert Everett) slithers back to the castle in the company of the dreaded Captain Hook (Ian McShane) to stage a diabolically timed coup and assume control of the throne. Now, as Shrek, Donkey, and Puss in Boots do their best to wrangle up the feisty Artie, Fiona must enlist the aid of fighting princesses Snow White (Amy Poehler), Sleeping Beauty (Cheri Oteri), Rapunzel (Maya Rudolph), and Cinderella (Amy Sedaris) to barricade the castle and fend off Prince Charming's invading army of fairy-tale villains until her beloved husband can return with the cavalry to save the day. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Not as good as the first 2 & POOR DVD PACKAGE SPO

I was right. I knew from watching trailers & clips that the 3rd film is my least favorite of the 3 films. Not as funny. No new good/funny characters. Just did not have as much fun & good jokes as the first 2 films. Best thing about the film is the partial use of 3 songs-SPOILERS. “Live & Let Die” my favorite Paul McCartney song. Now, the POOR DVD package. For a film that made as much money as it did what do we get when purchasing this DVD? 1. PLAIN JANE GREY DVD-’DreamWorks” you should be ashamed with yourself for this old, cheap DVD. 2. These horrible little flips to open the DVD package. I hate these things. 3. No list with chapter stops. Let us hope if they do make a 4th Shrek film the DVD is better designed. “Dreamworks” show respect to the fans of the film, not give us this cheap no thought into it DVD package.

    Let Down

I saw the movie at a mid-night showing due to the other 2 being so good. While this one is not terrible, I don't think it is any where near as good as the first 2. The story seemed to be kinda rushed and just kinda skipped through to get to all the funny bits. What made this purchase even worse is they have tinkered w/ the DVD formatting so it is basically un-playing on my laptop. I watch a lot of movies on the road and when I am working instead of playing music. It is annoying I can only watch about the first couple of minutes of the movie and then have it crash my DVD player. Tried both MPlayer and VLC. Seems it will just go on a shelf now. Un-watched since you can't return items.

We Can't Get Enough of SHREK!!!!

I fell in love with this big lug of a "monster" since the first video and although he does not yet comprehend the movie, my 21 months old is love with all of the movies, but he particularly loves this one..I suspect it's the music as he can't get enough of the song at the end. I realize that his movie is packed with adult humor, but for now , it keeps us all entertained. It's meant in fun and that is exactly how we view and why I gave it 5 stars..Plot..yadada is all in jest...Don't buy if you are going to sit through it and analyze it to death for silly things...Just "be"

Good but not the best of the three

Shrek The Third is a funny movie, and your kids will enjoy it most likely just as much as the first two. However adults watching the movie will likely see the plot is lacking, and there just wasn't as much fun humor in the third title. The Third has it's moments of usual adult comedy, but again this is seen much less than in the previous titles. A good overall movie, and for fans I would recommend at least giving it a viewing. For casual fans a rental.

    It Depends

It depends. Sure it was an okay movie but that is what libraries are for. You get it once, watch it and then be done with it. The only reason I bought it is because the 6 and 4 year old love it. Otherwise don't bother. It might make a great gift for someone 7 and younger but I would definitely pass this up. But then again it depends.

If you enjoyed the first 2 Shrek movies, then you will enjoy this one. This one continues where the second one leaves off and makes you want to see the next one in the saga. It is a good movie for the children to see, but the parents may be tired of seeing the same old characters with their same attitudes.

I purchased this movie to show my 6th grade students during our end of the year activities. Those who had never seen this movie were just as engaged as those who may have viewed it several times. They were constantly impressed by such amusingly surreal animation!

    Funny movie

The third installment of Shrek is a funny movie that will have you laughing throughout. As with the first two you have to be on the lookout for all of the subtle things in the background. It has a decent story, but it is nowhere near as good as the first two were.
