Bought this lens to use with my Sony Nex-5 and Ea1 adapter. Right out of the box this lens takes amazing pictures, I found myself chasing the dog around the house getting nose and paw pictures with a lot of detail. Even portraits from 20 feet away take awesome pictures with smooth backgrounds. The Image stabilization is a bit noisy if your going to take video, but it works well. If your using this lens with the Nex-5 and the Ea1 adapter, don't expect the auto focus to work. The manual focus though is quick though and I haven't tried this with the Ea2 yet. Finally the lens is a bit weighty, but when you get the result from your pictures I don't think you'll mind.

Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro review
THE 105MM standard macro focal length is more suited to full-frame sensors, so producing a premium-positioned lens makes sense. For APS-C cameras, Sigma's 70mm macro gives an effective 105mm or 112mm for Canon users and is therefore a better focalFull Review

Sigma has produced an excellent macro lens in the 105mm ƒ/2.8 EX DG OS HSM - it does away with an antiquated and confusing focusing system by using the HSM system, and offers optical stabilization. You'll want to be careful to avoid the 1/60Full Review
