If you are fine with trivium sounding more like a shinedown, or creed then this album is for you. Yes, this is another story of trivium alluding to it's original core fan base that this album sounds like shogun when it never comes close. I don't know if that's a cash grab or they enjoy misleading there fans.If you're a new trivium fan this will be great. If you're a fan that believe they can do no wrong and make the excuse they changed/matured then this album works for you. But if you're a trivium fan pre 2011 then you'll quickly realize this is their second worst.I don't care if he screams or sings, but for the love of Christ at least have some decent riffs. I can think of maybe 4 or 5 memorable riffs from the whole album. Don't settle for generic rock.

Not sure why there are two listings on BB for this CD. Anyway, ignore the earlier reviewer. This is an amazing album from a band that continues to get better. I've been a fan since The Crusade and this is just another great chapter in the band's journey. I simply will never understand the supposed "fans" who liked their very first album who continue to bash anything they do that isn't like black metal. Get over it and move on with your lives already. Matt's singing is in top form, better than ever after working with a voice coach. The guitar work? Well, what else do you expect from Matt and Corey? Mind-blowing.

4.5 stars. One of the things about a band that has been around for 15+ years is that their sound changes. It's inevitable. Trivium does this change up way better than most bands in this genre. Shinedown? Creed? Not even close! Way way better than that! I may like those bands if they were more like Trivium. Poor comparison on earlier review. Trivium is one of my favorite bands and have been since 07-08. After this album they are still right up there with me. In my opinion, the band did a very good job on this album.
