A:AnswerThis appears to be a common problem. I had to return this product 3 times before I received the combination that worked properly. I enjoyed very good reception for 1 year. Now the home dock is giving me troubles. I have one radio which I switch to the car and have not had any problems in the car. I thought that maybe the home antenna so I replaced it and had the same problem of the unit silencing itself. The home dock combination has not been moved from its original location; but, signal strength drops from 3 to 1 bar and then goes silent. I contacted Sirius and was advised to take it to a radio repair shop for diagnostics in order to determine what is causing problem.
A:AnswerThere is nothing more needed. The portable unit includes an antenna as well as an AC power supply and a remote. You will need Batteries if you plan on using the radio where there is no AC outlet available.
A:AnswerYes, I use this on my porch. But I have also used it in my kitchen as well. I know it needs a satellite signal, but in my kitchen it sat on the bar it picked up just fine without running the antenna outside.
