Six Days in Roswell [DVD] [1999]

The follow-up film to the hilarious documentary Trekkies, Six Days in Roswell follows some of those same subjects to the 50th anniversary of the Roswell, NM, alien crash site. What results is a very funny film but an even funnier DVD. The disc offers so much from filmmakers Roger Nygard, Timothy Johnson, and Richard Kronfeld that the actual film becomes secondary to the extras. The filmmakers definitely have a strong sense of marketing, as they knew to include more than just a brand new digital transfer (1:33 full-screen only). They've also packed the disc with great deleted scenes, an informative "making of" featurette, hilarious running commentary, and even 8 mm films and videos from their past. The filmmakers sound like they are having a party on the commentary soundtrack, insulting each other and even some of their subjects, one of whom is sitting in with them. This DVD is for anyone who thinks aliens walk among us or for those who laugh at people who believe aliens exist. Also included are extensive production notes, bios, festival info, trivia, alien backgrounds, and much more.

Six Days in Roswell
The makers of Trekkies (1997) bring you this exploration through another bizarre American subculture. The film focuses on Richard Kronfeld, a self-proclaimed UFO-ologist who has never had a girlfriend and still lives with his (very concerned) mother. He guides the film through a series of weird tableaus in the southwestern town of Roswell. Six Days in Roswell was screened at the 1999 AFI/L.A. Film Festival. ~ Jonathan Crow, Rovi
