A mysterious meteor infected with a deadly alien plague brings chaos to a small hunting town in the feature-length directorial debut of screenwriter James Gunn (Scooby-Doo, Dawn of the Dead). Booted out of bed by his young, trophy-wife Starla (Elizabeth Banks), and in desperate need of some female companionship, wealthy Grant Grant (Michael Rooker) picks up bar local floozy Brenda (Brenda James) and heads into the woods for a hedonistic night of extramarital excitement. When a flaming meteor lights up the sky before crashing to the ground nearby, Grant's curiosity gets the best of him and he sets out to find the space rock. Subsequently infected with a rampaging space virus, which he passes along to Brenda, Grant transforms into a horrific, cow-munching monster and begins terrorizing the town. As thousands of squirmy space slugs burrow into the brains of the unsuspecting Wheelsy denizens creating an ever-amassing horde of mindless space zombies, panic grips the small town and it's up to Starla, Sheriff Bill Pardy (Nathan Fillion), and gung-ho mayor Jack MacReady (Gregg Henry) to put an end to the infection and save the planet.~Jason Buchanan

Love this movie! I'm glad I got a great deal on it.
I would recommend this to a friend
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
James Gunn's low budget best picture.
The director of Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2 knows how to make a great science fiction movie with a massive budget, but this is the film that showed us he could do the same on a shoe string. Slither is a disturbing yet hilariously awesome alien invasion extravaganza.
A fun beautiful Blu-ray release from Shout factory of a great fun horror creature feature from the wonderful director James Gunn SLITHER is from earlier in his directing career, he also directed the great Marvel Studio films Guardians of the Galaxy 1 & 2
Saw this at the theater back int he day and have it still on HD-DVD. Finally comes out on Blu courtesy of Scream Factory. It's a Collector's edition so it's loaded to the gills with extras. Picture-wise, this is as good as it's ever looked. One of James Gunn's earliest films and rather comical at times. Not the darkest humor, but getting there. Definitely worth checking out!
You are either a fan of James Gunn's "Slither"...or you are not.
If you adore this movie, the Shout! Factory Special Edition Blu-ray is worth the purchase. The video is crisp and clear (especially compared to other films from this time period). The extras include commentary, deleted scenes, gag reel, features, and a new interview with Gunn.
James Gunn, director of the Guardians of the Galaxy films, knocked his first feature out the park with this one. It is as funny as it is scary, and pays homage to great 80s horror films like Night of the Creeps, The Thing, and even Predator. Scream Factory did a great job with this release!
