Did what it needed to
||Posted .I wanted a dryer vent that got my dryer closer to the wall since my laundry room is such a tight space coming off the garage. Because of this vent, we were able to the dryer in 7-8 inches from where it previously sat. We did not end up trimming it at this point, the full size fit just fine by shifting our washer more to the right.

Helps fit in tight spaces.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. It works great. Was not a lot of space for the dryer, so this was necessary for it to fit in the space.

Perfect for what I needed...
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Really only needed to move my dryer over 2 inches and keep it as close to the wall as possible. Also needed the front of the dryer to line up with the washer, which was 3 inches to far out. This was perfect. No leaks, either. Would highly recommend.

Here is the real information for this vent
Posted .Allow me to clear some misconceptions. When this item says 0-18, it's a bit of a poor description. It's 18" from center hole to center hole out of the box (overall length 24.5"). It's not expandable to 18" by pulling on the ends. If you want it less than 18", you MUST cut it. And, of course, it couldn't be less than about 5" in length just due to the connections. (A 0-5" periscope vent already exists, so 5-18 is a better description for this one). It says 2.5" profile (depth), supposedly allowing the dryer to sit back about an inch to 1.5 inches closer than the standard semi-rigid venting. I suppose that is dependent on your wall vent. If the wall vent does not allow the periscope vent to sit flat against the wall, any advantage is lost (see photo after Geek Squad installed the periscope vent). I had 3 Geek Squad installers for the new washer and dryer (separate trips for various reasons) and none of them recommended the periscope vent kit. They said they leak air, requiring a lot of foil tape, and don't really save you any room. In my case, that proved to be correct. I needed the space savings to close my closet doors, and in the end, the installers used foil flexible duct. The periscope vent may work in an ideal situation, but considering you may have to cut it and then tape it all over, it doesn't seem worth it...at least to me.

Great tool for venting out of small spaces
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This thing works, and it's amazing. I bought a washtower and knew it was going into a tight space, but with a periscope, I could make the dryer vent situation work. Well, it was delivered and Best Buy's installation team said it was impossible, asked if I wanted to keep the machine, didn't understand what I wanted to do with a periscope. (Actually had 3 delivery & installation attempts and I finally told them to drop it and leave.) Then a friend came and helped me install this. It worked in a space where my gap between the washtower and wall (where the vent outward was located) was 2.75 inches. Seriously, this periscope is a great solution for small spaces.

Smart Choice 0” to 18” Periscope Dryer Vent
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.I had to return this because it was too long for my dryer. It would make my dry stick out too far and I would not be able to shut my laundry room door.

Q: QuestionWhat are the diameters of the vent openings? Are both adjustable and if so, by how much?
Asked by Noreen.
- A:Answer Four inches, They are not adjustable. You would need to adapt them for larger or smaller application.

Q: QuestionI want periscope vent for 8.25" vertical difference between dryer outlet and wall vent. Can this be adjusted to accommodate this difference?
Asked by Extrudrep.
- A:Answer Probably. depending on the angle and wall. You would have to find the length and cut the excess off. Rather than expanding or "periscope" outward, The unit collapses from full length and the ends stick out the opposite end if that makes sense. These would then be cut off and sealed.

Q: QuestionThis dryer vent picture looks like it can't be shortened to zero inches as stated. There are 5 and a half inches between the my wall and dryer vents. Can you shorten this periscope vent to accommodate this measurement? Thank you.
Asked by Bob.
- A:Answer Yes, you can shorten or lengthen it as needed by sliding the sections together or apart. Our measurement was the Same as yours. It required separating the two sections, determining where they they needed it, then cutting the two sections with tin snips (easily done) where they couldn't overlap. This Sounds complicated, but will make sense when you look at the actual vent.

Q: QuestionUsing the Periscope kit, how close can I get the back of the dryer to the wall? I have seen other periscopes sold online that claim that the distance from the back of the dryer to the wall can be as little as 2.5".
Asked by AllenM.
- A:Answer Yes you can get closer to the wall with the periscope about 2’ then you can with the regular dryer vent hose. You may need to be a little creative to attach everything together. I had to buy 2 connector to get the job done because the connectors on the periscope just aren’t long enough. Get 2 extra clamps to make sure it holds ogether on both ends.

Q: QuestionI would be using this for a dryer that sits in a closet. The vent will need to go up my attic. How much space is needed for this type of vent. Dryer to wall?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer the manufacturer recommends 6 inches, we have 10 inches. The 90 degree elbow allows for closer to wall distance.

Q: QuestionDoes geek squad install periscope dryer vents if purchased through best buy.
Asked by Mona.
- A:Answer The people who delivered our dryer with the periscope dryer vent, which did not work for our situation, were definitely not from the Geek Squad. As a matter of fact, due to space constraints and timing issues we had 3 different deliveries and 3 different sets of delivery people. Two sets of them were fine, one was less than stellar. The first ones were the best and we always hoped it would be them again. All that said, Best Buy itself was very helpful and accommodating. I'm assuming the delivery people are independent workers who contract with Best Buy because every box van was unmarked.

Q: QuestionI need about 21 inches to go from the dryer vent to the wall vent, but the periscope is only 18 inches. If I buy two 18 inch periscopes can the installer cut them and then splice them together? My dryer-to-wall clearance is only 2 inches.
Asked by E.
- A:Answer Yes it could be done you would have to use the foil tape and seal it up real well it basically cut out the center section and extend it

Q: QuestionCan I use this to vent out a wall on the right side of the dryer! The vent is not in back of the dryer but is on the sidewall. Thanks!
Asked by Homeowner.
- A:Answer Yes but if the vent pipe is inside the machine you will need to get the extensions or the elbows. Also the periscope isn’t very long so make sure of the length you need. If you have room on the side of the machine why not use the flex tubing? Best Buy doesn’t carry any of the extension so go to Home Depot/Loews also get extra clips just to make sure the connection if good.
