I didn't realize (but probably should have) that it covers only the viewing side of the i-Pad; the backside is left unprotected. This, I gather, helps keep the weight down (as desired), but if you're touchy about wanting never to risk scratches on the backside, you probably should get another type of cover. For example, I have an Apple-made leather cover on my old iPad that does cover both front and back and is relatively thin and light. All that said, this cover is clever; it clicks to the iPad without effort but is easily removed if desired. I'm keeping it.

Good cover if you want to keep it slim

It magnetically attaches to the left of the iPad and can fold in order to keep the iPad upright. I enjoy the soft fabric on the inside which ensures no scratches on the screen. Great cover but sometimes too expensive. The wake up feature is amazing and doesn’t accidentally turn on if it shifted in my bag.

- A:Answer This particular cover does not lock. It attaches to the iPad magnetically on the left side. Not sure what you mean by saying it’s locked, but I think you may have bought the wrong case.
