I love Otep, let's get that out of the way. However, some bands seem to think putting in a bunch of muttering and noise is what the consumer wants on an album? I'm guessing you're supposed to be on drugs to enjoy it? I don't know, not my thing. The songs are great, but the extra noise between them is lame.

I feel that Sevas Tra, House of Secrets, and theAscension all have their own pace and style. Smash the Control Machine is a blend of all three making it more chaotic. Chaos in metal is a good thing. It goes from heavy to eerily pretty melodies to heavy in a loop so unpredictable that makes this album special.
