    Synopsis

    Smokey and the Bandit
"Smokey," aka Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason), is the prospective father-in-law of unwilling bride Carrie (Sally Field). The Bandit (Burt Reynolds), a maverick racecar driver, makes an 80,000-dollar bet that he can transport a shipment of Coors beer from Texarkana, TX, to Atlanta within 28 hours. It's important to note that in 1977, it was illegal to sell the Coors brand east of the Mississippi River without a permit; if we don't note that, then the plot won't make sense at times. Already in danger of arrest from redneck lawmen like Buford T. Justice, Bandit furthers his chances at a stiff jail term when he offers a ride to Carrie, who hopes to escape her unwanted wedding to Justice's boy. The rest of the film is one long chase; not quite as subtle as a Road Runner/Coyote cartoon, not quite as restrained as a Three Stooges comedy. Universally panned by critics upon its first release, Smokey and the Bandit reportedly pulled in just under $126 million and led to two sequels. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Be aware that you are not getting what is pictured. I thought that the item that I was ordering contained the Blu-Ray disc, plus dvd like picture shows. You only get the Blu-Ray....really ticked off and will not order from here again! Explained to customer service and they are like yea the picture is very misleading....then remove or update the picture. This is my last purchase at this place!

This movie from the late 70's and was a fun comedy with Burt Reynolds, and Sally Fields running from the law in a red pontiac; Jerry Reed as the trucker and Jackie Gleason as the sheriff chasing after them. You could tell that they had alot of fun making it. There were 3 smokey & bandit movies made. The first was the best.

I saw that this was coming out and put it on my buy list, great movie and a classic plus you get the digital. My only complaint is that they didn't put them all together like they did a few years ago in the DVD set.

This was the second highest grossing movie in 1977, behind Star Wars. There are numerous gaffs and errors that were left in the final movie, but Jackie Gleason's terrific performance shadows all the mistakes.

This is one of the best comedies of my era, there are so many one liners in this movie, and this is what made it great. Burt Reynolds, and Jackie Gleeson really made this movie fun.

I have always loved this movie. Wanted this in blue ray. Jace Gleason is a screen as Sheriff as Buffed T. Justice. It is a silly movie, but alot of fun.
