Q: What is the difference between this Beam and the 1st generation Beam? Other than price...
A: The price is technically the same as the first generation. Sonos raised the prices on all of their products last week...so the new price for this Beam reflects that. This Beam has a more powerful processor vs. the original and can play sound in Dolby Atmos. The original Beam does not.
A: It really helped me. I’m 71 years old and have worn hearing aids for over 15 years. I can now understand dialogue much more clearly at a volume that doesn’t drive my wife out of the room. Background music that plays during so many TV shows is also less of a problem.
A: Thank you for your question. The Beam does us HDMI to plug into the tv. It can plug into standard ARC or eARC. To get the most out of your home theater experience with Beam, you'll want to make sure to plug your Beam into ARC or eARC and switch the other components to other HDMI ports. You can plug into optical and still great great sound however, optical doesn't support Dolby Atmos.
Q: Can I connect other Sonos speakers to this Beam
A: Yes! I got it for this reason!

Q: Can I connect to the Beam via home wifi?
A: Yes you can, you need the app but once it's set up, it's set it and forget it.
A: Unfortunately there isn't.

Good Sound, App Troubles
This is a compact soundbar that delivers big sound for its size. It fits nicely under most TVs and looks sleek. The audio quality impresses, with clear dialogue and decent bass for both movies and music. Setup is generally easy - just plug it in and follow the app instructions. It works with Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control, which is handy. The Dolby Atmos feature adds depth to movies, making them more immersive. Music playback is good, and you can stream easily from your devices. It also plays well with other Sonos speakers if you want to expand your system. However, there have been issues with the mobile app wich can be frustrating when you're trying to adjust settings or play music. Best sound bar,easy hook up,multispeakerwireless!
This Sonos sound bar is absolutely amazing. We hooked it up so easily to our Sonos 500 through our IPad, works in both rooms where we can change sound and music in the different rooms. The sound is so clear and it has this beautiful bass that really makes watching TV and listening to music so enjoyable it makes me so happy. It’s definitely impressive when you have music throughout your whole house. Our home feels like pure entertainment in every room we go into I absolutely love this. I highly recommend it also very easy to set up with other Sonos speakers. Definitely a buy! I want to buy a couple more wireless sonos 500 for the other rooms! For the sound, early connection and ability to hook up as many speakers through the house and garage! Sonos sound bar is the best way to go! So happy!
