Stream Sonos content over an existing stereo.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device allows you to stream Sonos content over an existing stereo system. It also allows you to add an external music source to Sonos via analog RCA stereo inputs. I had no trouble adding the Connect to my existing Sonos Network which consists of a Bridge, Play1, Play3, and Play5. I use a Bridge for two reasons, to activate SonosNet and to activate the Ethernet ports on my players for use as web enabled uplink ports. Plugging an Ethernet cable into one of your players will accomplish the same thing and eliminate the need for a Bridge, but that was not an option for me. If you plan to use a Sonos uplink port it is advisable to use a standard CAT5 or CAT5e network cable with your third party device rather than the flat Ethernet cable that Sonos provides. I'm using an AirPort Express for AirPlay into my Play5 and the AirPort will not maintain a consistent network connection with a Sonos flat Ethernet cable connected to the Play5’s uplink port. The AirPort maintains a perfect connection with a CAT5 cable connected to the same uplink port. I am sending audio to my existing stereo via the RCA analog output ports on the Connect and it sounds good. The D/A converter in the Connect seems to be of acceptable quality. You also have the option of bypassing the D/A converter by using either the optical or coax digital outputs, but that was not an option for my existing stereo setup. I'm happy with the system's performance but I am deducting 1 star for the device’s white color and high price. I swapped the included white cables for black cables but the Connect still looks odd sitting in a cabinet with all black stereo equipment. I also think this device should sell for around $150, the current price of $350 is too high for what you get. To be honest, the only Sonos product that I feel is a good value is the $199 Play1. The other components are very expensive for what you get.

Great system link
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this item in hopes of connecting my surround system to my Sonos ecosystem. It works well however it’s not as perfect as I would like it. The volume is a bit low but with some fine tuning you can adjust the volume on your receiver. My current system is a Marantz receiver with 5 BW’s and a LoganMartin sub. Overall I am very pleased. I am current running my surround, 3 play 1’s in different rooms, and a Playbar in my master bedroom. Everything syncs in perfect harmony. I would recommend to anyone who has a high end surround sound that wants to sync with Sonos products.

Inconsistent & Overpriced
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this to integrate my third party sub with my Sonos. Performed inconsistently. I had audio drop outs. I believe it is way overpriced for what it does. When it did work it was great. I returned the product and will consider purchasing it again when i can isolate it from the rest of my equipment to make sure there is no interference. I had this wired to my router so I couldn't understand why it was inconsistent.

Great App
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great software to store and retrieve music. Communicates with Alexa giving you voice control of music to play and what speaker to play it on. Difficult to set up. I had to call Sonos help desk.

Brings in your older system!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Connect to incorporate my existing A/V system (a traditional receiver with two speakers and a subwoofer, connected to a 300-disc CD changer, Blu-ray player, 5-disc DVD carousel, and the "cable box") into my Sonos speaker system. This permits me to now listen to my music library from the A/V system (CDs, DVDs, music channels from the cable box) on the existing A/V system's speakers AND on any of the Sonos speakers I now have throughout the house. This is great because before I was limited to listening to my large collection of CDs in just one room where my CD changer and A/V setup was located. I had been looking for a wireless speaker system, but Sonos is like manna from heaven because it is so much more than a simple wireless speaker system! So, I got exactly what I wanted for a wireless solution to extend my A/V system, but also everything that Sonos offers (its universe of music stations/selections, including your Pandora and other similar accounts). Two things you want to make sure you understand before you get the Connect, however: 1) that you will actually be able to plug it into your A/V system in a way that lets you listen to whatever you want to through your A/V system. For example, your receiver will need an available line-out connection to push music into the Connect and to all of the Sonos speakers, AND you will need an available line-in connection to be able to use your A/V's speakers as part of the whole system (the latter is not required for functionality if you don't care about using it this way); and 2) the connect cannot actually control your A/V receiver or components - for example, I have to physically push play on my CD changer to start it up and the A/V receiver has to be configured properly for the components sound to be routed to the line-out connection going to the Connect. For these reasons, I strongly recommend you thoroughly review Sonos' online manual and its set-up descriptions to make sure it will work with your system the way you want it to. Overall, a great product!

Great for adding an existing sound system to Sonos
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My experience with Sonos speakers has been positive. I had been looking for a wireless method to have my music and music services such as iTunes, Pandora, Amazon music, and a few others to play in every room for a number of years. The Sonos ecosystem has this far worked perfectly for me. I already had a Play 1 and a Play 3 in other rooms. I was looking at the Playbar for my living room, but it seemed a bit pricey considering that I already have a functioning surround sound system. So, adding the Connect seemed like a no-brainer. The set-up was easy due to already having an existing Sonos network. The sound quality has been excellent too. Don't hesitate on this one if you're looking for a wireless method of connecting audio to every room in your house. You won't regret it!

Great Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hooked it up to the receiver of our whole-house sound system, joined it to our Wi-Fi network, and we were good to go. Everything is done via a phone/tablet, so the whole process is wireless, except for the physical audio connection to the receiver. It's an expensive product, but well worth it! Only Downside: If you want to connect it to a different Wi-Fi network after you initially set it up, you have to physically hook it up to the new network's router via Ethernet. There should really be an option to "forget/delete" the existing network within the app and then be able to choose a different Wi-Fi network.

Q: QuestionThe sonos connect is what I would start with to able to hear my XM radio throughout my house? The Connect would send the audio to the my Uverse router? The Uverse router would wirelessly connect to Sonos speakers I would place throughout the house?
Asked by Northstar.
- A:Answer I have a Sirius XM account and simply use the Sonos Sirius XM app to play SiriusXM throughout my home. I love it! Sonos can either use your existing home wireless or set up its own Sonos-Net. you pick.

Q: QuestionI have a complete home stereo system. I'm only looking to add wireless satellite speakersI have an amp that is the center of my complete home AV system. The sources broadcast from the amp are AM/FM, TV, CD, Spotify and Pandora, The Denon amp has WiFi and LAN connections and receives Bluetooth. I have wired main speakers in the living room. I'm only looking to add one wireless satellite speaker each in to two rooms. I typically will play the same content to all rooms. My WiFi signal is quite strong throughout the house. Are two Sonos speakers the only equipment I need? Which models? Or do I need the Sonos Connect with 2 Sonos speakers?
Asked by ZPlau.
- A:Answer Sonos. Without a doubt, the best wireless audio equipment that is out there. Pricey, but well worth it and you won't regret it. You shouldn't need the Sonos Connect if your receiver has wireless "broadcasting" capability. The wireless Sonos speakers can connect to whatever wireless broadcast source you specify. If not, then you can hook up a Sonos Connect to your receiver and use it as an input source (though I don't think that will be necessary).

Q: QuestionSonos Connect work with other whole house systems? We have a whole house sound system connected to a Yamaha receiver. Can we use Sonos Connect to allow us to control this system and stream music from our phones wirelessly?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer You cannot control the Yamaha from the SONOS app. You will have to plug the SONOS into the Yamaha and the yamaha will have to be turned on for the SONOS to play music. Once you do that however, you can control the volume and music source from the app on your phone or tablet.

Q: QuestionWill connect play music with no speakers connected to it, or is it an amp that requires a sonos play or old school speakers connected? I plan to connect an outdoor speaker to it but not sure if I need to separately buy sonos play for inside.
Asked by Robert.
- A:Answer Think of the Sonos Connect as a network connected audio source or a Streaming Audio Tuner with connections to thousands of stations available. Its output is a stereo line level analog output, similar to what a CD player would output. This will NOT drive speakers on its own. I plug in Connects to older stereo amplifiers or receivers for an easy streaming tuner with audio volume control from my computer or laptop.

Q: QuestionDo i need to connect an amplifier to my ceiling speakers to connect Sono to play/stream music?
Asked by Mindy7488.
- A:Answer Yes, the Sonos Connect does not have an amplifier built in to connect speakers. If you need an amp, you could use the Sonos Connect: Amp or the new Sonos Amp.

Q: QuestionDo u HAVE to have a Connect to stream music or does it just work better?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer No; you can setup a SONOS system using only one or more PLAY speakers. Using the iTunes, Android, or PC applications you can stream many music services, and your local music library to the SONOS system. The Connect gives you two added capabilities. - The Line Out can connect to your existing stereo system, letting SONOS stream to your system's speakers. - And, the Line In allows any analog source to play through the entire SONOS system. For instance, the line out of your receiver could be connected to this input, and any record played on your turntable can play through the entire SONOS system. I have an Amazon Echo Dot connected to the Connect analog input and have voice control over what songs play through the entire SONOS system. Note, for the voice control with the Echo Dot you will need a compatible streaming music service.

Q: QuestionIs a receiver required to use the Sonos?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer It would be easier to tell you the options you have with Sonos. 1. With a Sonos bridge, you can add Sonos speakers anywhere within range and listen to the same of difference music source. 2. With a Sonos bridge, you can add a soundbar, two speakers, and a Sonos subwoofer and have a nice home theater system. 3. With a Sonos connect, you can have the same Sonos functionality on your existing standard (or oldschool) receiver and speakers You should go to Sonos website and see all the products and flexibility built into their products. Great sound but a little more expensive when compared to the typical receiver and speaker set-ups.

- A:Answer All sonos products connect through the sonos app. The specific phone doesnt matter; as long as you can download the sonos app onto it, everything should be fine.
