Small but mighty
|Posted .Sound bars have come a long way in terms of advancement. This slim-form sound bar is no exception. Who’s it for: Small space but wants big sound. Pros: *Small form factor *Wireless Sub *Easy setup Cons: *Not intuitive display First impressions: I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to setup. I didn’t need to mount mine to the wall but it does give a wall template that makes it a breeze to mount. You do have to supply your own wall screws for this. But it does include everything else from batteries for the remote to the fiber optic cable for the TV connection. From unboxing to listening pleasure took about 10 minutes. The part that took the longest was fumbling through my TV settings to turn off built in speakers. The sound was ok at first but after playing around with the different sound modes and increasing the sub’s volume I was able to watch a movie in full enjoyment. It does a great job in filling the room with sound. Keep in mind that this slim style bar doesn’t work miracles and fill a 5000 sq ft home with sound but does a great job for a bedroom. The sub does add to the overall sound experience but don’t expect this little sub to rattle the windows. Overall, im very satisified with this Sony sound bar with wireless sub. The slim form factor doesn’t aesthetically overpower my small bedroom walls yet provides a more emersive moving viewin experience. The wireless sub made hiding it in the room a whole ton easier as well. My only gripes about this sound bar is the information display. It does have one where some of the sound bars in this price range just uses lights. My frustration is that its not very intuitive on which mode is on or off. The manual is a bit lack luster but after a night of playing around with the settings, you quickly learn what each mode does and when its on or off based on the display. The display lights up predetermined words like “movie” and “music” and isn’t a dot matrix display that could easily provide you with more details like “dolby on”, “movie mode off”, etc. Despite these small downfalls, I still would recommend this sound bar to those with 40” or less TV in smaller rooms like a bedroom. I hope this review helped!

Good sound quality but overpriced
|Posted .This review is for Sony sound bar model HTCT290 the sound quality is very good, and the finishing is what you would expect from Sony brand name, and thats exactly why it is overpriced as well. The subwoofer bass quality is amazing and more than enough for a home theater sound quality in an apartment. The pictures show the sound bar under my 65 inch screen and the subwoofer in the center of the media center table. the sound bar hook up was easy and the sub woofer connects to the sound bar wirelessly. it also comes with a remote control that can change the sound mode between movies, and music. and you can also control the subwoofer volume by the remote. the sound bar can be hooked up to multiple devices and has bluetooth capability to pair and play music using your phone. You can also mount the sound bar to the wall and the package contains a drawing of the sound bar to help fix it on the wall and drill in the right place. all in all, this is a great sound bar if it was priced between $150 to $175.

Get Big Sony Sound From Your Small TV
|Posted .This Sony soundbar really served its purpose. I had it out of the box, hooked up and running within 15 minutes of cutting the package tape! We had a Sharp 32 inch Roku TV in the bedroom on top of a chest of drawers. The black soundbar fit nicely and unobtrusively on top and in front of the TV. The wireless sub-woofer went behind a love seat and is totally hidden. This is a 2.1 soundbar, and it projected a clean stereo image with nice, non- boomy bass. The Roku sound was not bad for a tv, but the soundbar was an instant and welcome improvement. Listening to music was a joy as well. I was able to easily pair my android phone with the blue tooth radio in the bar, and stream songs stored on the phone or through the phone's music streaming apps. You can also plug in a USB stick and the bar can read and play the songs on it without your TV being on. My initial hook up with the TV to the sound bar was via the furnished optical digital cable. That worked fine, but I then substituted an HDMI cable (not included) and was able to use the ARC feature over HDMI to send sound to the bar from the TV and also control the volume on the sound bar, using the TV volume control via CEC. Nice. The Sony remote is still available to adjust sub-woofer volume and select the inputs on the sound bar. I am very pleased and expect to have a lot of pleasurable listening from this compact sound bar and sub-woofer for years to come.

Incredible 2.1 Soundbar
|Posted .The Sony HT-CT290 is an excellent compact soundbar providing 300 watts of total power across 2.1 channels. The system is exceptionally compact for the incredible sound that it produces. I paired the system with a 65" Sony 4K UHD television and it went along way to adding some awesome audio effects to the incredible visual experience. The Sony HT-CT290 supports the HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) standard and you'll want to use the ARC connector on your television if it has one. The system also provides Bluetooth support to allow you to experience audio from your PC, phone or tablet. Another nice feature is that the soundbar is wall mountable although in my case I simply placed it upon a mantle below the wall mounted TV. The subwoofer though should be placed on the ground to one side or below the TV and can also be placed either upright or on its side if space is a premium. Simply put, if you're looking for incredible sound at an incredible price then you should definitely check out the Sony HT-CT290.

Great sound for the price
||Posted .Bought this for my 65 inch Sony TV. I was blown away by the sound quality of the system. I was skeptical at first being the price. When I got it home i was impressed with the sub and sound quality. It filled my living room and sounded like i was at the movies. The Bluetooth is great and was easy to set up. I liked.the different sound features it had such as voice, movies or music. Hands down best value for the buck. You won't be disappointed!

Awesome Sound Bar System with Subwoofer
||Posted .My boyfriend purchased this Sound Bar System with Subwoofer for me along with a Sony - 65" Class (64.5" Diag.) - LED - 2160p - Smart - 4K Ultra HD TV with High Dynamic Range in October 2017. We looked at several Sound Bar Systems, some were very expensive according to my perspective but I decided on this one because it sounded great to me plus it was affordable and thus far, it has not disappointed me. The audio is clear and precise, and the bass is at its best when watching a movie, TV show/series, sports, or playing a music video. As a female, I don't know too much about the intricate components of this system but its pretty awesome to me and I am enjoying it.

Great sound for the money
||Posted .Purchased when on sale and is great value. There are better sounding bars but way more money. I just wanted greater volume with subwoofer too that fit in front of the Sony Tv I bought at BestBuy. This fit the bill perfectly. Surprised how easy setup and auto sync with cable remote!

Q: QuestionMy sa-wct290 subwoofer wont turn on at all. Please advise.
Asked by Deuce1n.
- A:Answer Hi I am a repair engineer, and this is a common fault with this and other Sony sub woofers , If there is no led lit on the sub woofer front then most likely the reg ic on the amp part of the sub woofer has failed. Sony brought out a tech bulletin out for engineers about this. the repair consists of replacing faulty ic and a slight mod to the drive circuit for the ic. Take your sub woofer to a repair shop and they should have it working again in no time.

Q: QuestionCan the sound bar be attacked, using brackets, to the tv.
Asked by Alfie.
- A:Answer It depends on what you’re attacking it with. Honestly, I wouldn’t use anything short of an M4A1 with an underbarrel M203 granade launcher. Anything less and you run the risk of not putting it down for good. Hope that helps and good hunting!

Q: QuestionMy subwoofer is not working on my Sony ct290 how do you rest it to make the Bluetooth read it
Asked by Randy.
- A:Answer This happened to us the first time we connected it. The light on the front of the subwoofer should be green, this means it is connected and working. We had to make the sound bar "Bluetooth findable". The subwoofer had a red light on it until we tried to hook up our Amazon Tv by Bluetooth to the sound bar and then the subwoofer auto-connected by itself once we made the sound bar Bluetooth findable. And it auto connects every time now.I hope this helps.

Q: QuestionCan this unit be controlled (on, off, volumn) with my TV remote.
Asked by TnRetired.
- A:Answer Once it's connected to the tv digital out, it comes on when the tv is powered on. You will still need its remote to work the volume tho. The set top box remote still only controls the tv volume and not the sound bar even though it is set to the Sony code.

Q: QuestionHello, I have an SONY Bravia KD-43XD8005 tv. I was wondering if it's best to connect to the HDMI Arc or to connect trough the optical port to receive the best quality sound. Or is it recommended to connect the soundbar with both connections?
Asked by CuriousBob.
- A:Answer Both connections will give you optimal performance. The optical port will give you the better sound quality however the HDMI will allow you to use the Bravia Sync function. With the sync you will not need to use two remotes for tv viewing, the sound bar will turn on and off with your tv and you can adjust the volume with the tv remote. You will want to keep the sound bar remote to use for Bluetooth or any other device you may want to connect. You will also need this to adjust sound settings. I have a Bravia tv as well, mine does not have an HDMI Arc in but I have it connected with the standard HDMI in port and it works great. Vastly improves the sound quality over the tv speakers.
