Great lens
|Posted .I decided to go with the 35mm lens over the 50mm. 35 let's you get more in the shot while being closer. I mainly take pictures of my daughter, playing, at Disney or just regular still shots of her posing for me. The light this lens allows in is amazing. I love how much more this lens looks than the lens I got with the camera bundle. Everyone ask what camera I am using. I tell the it's Sony A6000 but I tell them it's the 35mm lens as well.

Photography at its simplest

Ease of Use5 out of 5Haven't fiddled with this lens too much yet, but the little I have, I'm impressed, and already planning more photo-outings with it. Attached to my NEX-6, this provides a package that is just fun to use, especially with the camera set to A (aperture priority). The f/1.8 is fast, and means that this lens can take great images when light is low, and no flash is possible/allowed/desired. It also means great bokeh, and with the 35/f18 lens, it is beautifully blurred in the background, while your subject is incredibly focused, meaning the subject is what you look at - not so much the background. With its fixed focal length, you (the photographer) is the zoom. Move closer or further away to get the perspective you're looking for. Some have said (elsewhere) that the lens isn't the sharpest at f/1.8, but my limited experience with it so far hasn't revealed any issues. I've attached a couple of my first images I took with the lens; nothing artistic, but they do let you see bokeh (DoF or depth-of-field) and low-light capabilities. As I mentioned, I'm just looking forward to more time with this lens - and the NEX-6 as well...

Great sharp lens
|Posted .This is a sharp lens and is highly reviewed for a reason. I can attest to that. It has been my primary lens for portraits and street photography. I use this lens 90% of the time on my Sony A7ii. It is intended for APS-C but still fits this camera. It won't be 35mm because of the crop factor. There will be no vignette if you set it up on auto crop.

Go to lens for Sony a6000
|Posted .Before purchasing this I got the sigma 19mm and the Sony 50mm and honestly this 35mm is the one that stays on my camera 90% of the time. Very crisp pictures, nice bike.

Must Have Lens
|Posted .This was the perfect lens to add to my Sony a6000 camera. The pictures are superb. If you are looking to take pictures with a great field of depth, this is the lens for you. Although it is pricey (it can be more than the camera body itself), it is well worth it.

Great lens
|Posted .This lens takes great pictures. Sharp beyond belief. A must for taking pictures indoors. The picture I attached was taken with this lens, indoors and without using a flash. I'm very happy with it.

Great lens
|Posted .I’m just starting to learn how to shoot with different lenses and this is perfect for portraits and creates a nice bokeh! Also great for getting a clear shot of scenery. Very clear and small lens so easy to carry and doesn’t make the camera heavy.

Q: QuestionHello, just got the Sonya6000 w 16-50mmkit lense. I mostly use It for pictures of my kids, birthday parties & indoor graduation & holiday parties. I want another lense that zooms farther & is good in dark settings. What do you recommend?
Asked by Ali.
- A:Answer For low light, I would recommend the Sony 35m 1.8. It is equal to a 50m. It is a prime lens so it does not zoom out. The problem with Best Buy, is that you will not be able to try the lens out, cause if you do not like it, they will charge you a 15% restocking fee unless you don't mind paying it.

Q: QuestionI have had the Sony a6000 for about a year now and am ready to purchase my first lens. I shoot mostly travel photography with a human subject and am looking for something a bit sharper than what the kit lens can do. Would you recommend this lens?
Asked by Natalie.
- A:Answer Hi. This lens, due to its large aperture, is ideal for night photos (or in low light). For photos with humans, at least to my liking, I prefer a lens with more variants of depth that allows me to clearly take out the human and the surrounding landscape (like the one that comes with the kit). With this lens you will be able to take out the human with the unfocused background, which is a very nice effect but does not rescue the landscape. If you want something with more clarity, take pictures of humans + the landscape that surrounds it, without complicating your life, you can go for a lens with the same characteristics as the Kit but, for example, a Carl Zeiss. In my case, I bought this lens, for photos with low light and portraits. I hope I have directed and answered your question, Greetings.

Q: QuestionI have the Sony a5100 with the kit lens. I feel like the photos aren't "sharp" enough. I use the camera mostly for pictures of my daughter (2 year old) and whenever I go out on an adventure. Do you recommend upgrading to the 35mm or the 50mm lens?
Asked by Marilin.
- A:Answer I own the Sony SEL35F18 35mm f/1.8 Fixed Lens and Sony FE 50mm F1.8 Lens. You did not specify which 50mm lens you are considering. The Sony SEL50F18 50mm f/1.8 Lens would be a closer match for comparison to the 35mm lens. Based on my experience I would recommend the 35mm lens since it would give you more flexibility with its 35mm focal length equivalent of 52mm as opposed to the short telephoto 35mm equivalent of 75mm with the 50mm lens. I keep the 35mm lens mounted on my SONY a6000 instead of the 16~50mm kit lens. I also own a Sigma 30mm F2.8 DN Lens for Sony E-mount and get consistently good comments on its performance on my camera. Auto focus is a little slow compared to my SONY 35mm lens but for the price I don't believe you can complain about its performance. It stays permananently mounted on my SONY NEX5!!! I also suggest that you read the reviews of the lenses you are considering as a further aid in your decision.
