surprising
Posted .i bought this for the multiple hdmi inputs because my monitor only has one. they all work perfectly with my droid 3, laptop, and ps3. occasionally it had an issue with my computer, but all i have to do is restart the recever. small size too, its just a bit bigger than my 17 inch laptop next, the sound is waaaay better than i expected. there are settings in the amp menu to increase the volume of each speaker to how you want. people that say the isnt much bass must not know about the settings, because there is plenty, sometimes too much. high mid and low notes sounds fantastic. im 17 and listen to mostly hiphop, rock, metal, and dubstep. all of it sounds fantastic, honestly better than my buddy's bose lifestyle 30, and a sliver the price. i bought it on sale for a fantastic $250, but the normal price of $350 or so is also extremely reasonable. for what you get, and the quality, i think it should be at least $450. even though the speaker wires might be short for some people, and me, it was easy to cut and extend them. if you would like to know it uses 20 gauge wires. the speakers are easy to hang on a wall. all you have to do is put like a drywall screw in the wall and the back of the speakers have an indent in them. i wish they also had mounts to articulate them, but for $250 im not complaining. overall, excellent system, i tell everyone about it

Great surround sound
Posted .first of all this is not a dvd player or blueray player, THIS IS A SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM. PEOPLE GET THIS CONFUSED with a different model, i love this sound system, i like the preset equilizer, and is easy to use, the remote has too many buttons, that you can use if you are going to connect with a sony tv, i dont have a sony tv so i only use the ones to change the sound settings on the system. i like how clear it sounds and the different sound modes it has. its worth it for all the inputs and sound quality.

Best choice for multiple HDMI connections
Posted .I bought this because of the amount of additional HDMI connections. It is good quality and one of the only home theater systems with these connectors. I wish it had a few more of the old AV type connectors, but it works fine for what we need.

Sounds Amazing!
Posted .Just picked up this unit while it was on sale this week. setup was a breeze, easily hooks up to all my devices via hdmi. LOVE that my tv recognizes the receiver and controls the volume with my cable remote without using another remote. Sound is awesome, paired with my ps3 and i couldn't be happier. MUST BUY!!!!

Great Surround Sound!!!!
Posted .I bought this system about week ago because I wanted to be able to get surround sound from my iMac and MacBook Pro for film/sound editing and watching films. Setup was fast and simple. This system comes with an iPod/iPhone dock which is really nice. Makes it easy to play music from my iPod and iPhone and another charger is always nice. I played a scene from the film Super 8 and was immediately impressed with the sound quality! Clear and crisp, and the different Movie Mode selections bring the exciting and powerful sound of movie theaters into your home! For me, this Surround Sound System is perfect! I have a 27" iMac desktop and a 15" MacBook Pro and this systems works great on both. I use it for watching films and film/sound editing in Avid Media Composer. Being a college kid, I'm kind of on a low budget, so for about $270 (with tax), you can't get much better surround sound than this! *********************************** OUTPUT SURROUND SOUND FROM YOUR MAC: (*Check first to see if your Mac is capable of outputting surround sound. Most models before early 2009 are not able to output multi-channel audio) - Use a Mini Display Port to HDMI cable and connect the HDMI into the Blu-Ray/DVD HDMI input on the receiver and the Mini Display to the Mini Display Port on your Mac. - Go to System Preferences on your Mac. Click on the "Sound" icon. Then in the "Output" tab, select SONYAVAMP - HDMI - Then go into Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup. On the left side of the window select HDMI. On the right side it then should say "Source: SONY AVAMP" - Click the "Configure Speakers..." button in the bottom right of the window. Click the "Multichannel" tab. Then select "5.1 Surround" from the pull down menu. Click on each speaker to provide a test tone to make sure each is connect properly. Then click on "Apply" - Last set is to go into the DVD Player. Go to "Preferences" and click on the "Disc Setup" tab. Under Audio at the bottom of the window select "Digital Out - SONY AVAMP" from the drop down menu for "Audio output" *You now have 5.1 Channel Surround Sound from you Mac! *********************************** Over all the Sony 1000W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System is amazing for the price! It has great sound quality and is fast and easy to hook up to your devices! PROS: - Easy and fast setup - 3 HDMI Inputs - Sound quality is excellent for the price! Crisp and clear - Auto Calibration - Sleek design - Inexpensive - iPod/iPhone Dock - I love how it works perfectly with my iMac and MacBook Pro! - Works great with Avid Media Composer NLE system CONS: - would be nice if the wires were a bit longer, or at least able to be extended easily :/ - Not very many Sound Field presets (12)

Great one
Posted .Bought this system last week and I must say that Sony has nailed this product with simplicity and perfection. This is the best deal you can get with the price you pay and sound you get. Very easy to setup, works fine with my Panasonic plasma, speaker wires are long enough to put it almost anywhere in my living room, and sound is phenomenal... The best feature I liked was Ipod dock - you can control your Ipod/Iphone music player from the system remote. Your TV remote would also control volume for the system so that you dont have to use two remote simultaneously. Another good feature is that it would give great sound for your TV by just connecting it with HDMI cable.

Overall, good buy for the price
Posted .This Sony sound system was pretty much what I was looking for. The sound quality is good - best I've heard in it's price range. I'm very happy with it. Pros: Ease of setting up, sound quality, automatically mutes TV sound when you turn on receiver, Toshiba TV remote and Sony sounds system remote automatically interchangeable without any programming. Cons: Many times, does not sync sound with cable TV. I haven't broken out the book to see if this is fixable, but I only use it for movies or hooking up my PC to the tv and that sound syncs just fine. It's only cable sound I have problems with. Also, no Equalizer, just pre-set sound types to choose from (sports, news, movies, etc).

Awesome System
Posted .This thing is great. Coming right out of the box you could tell this was going to be a nice system. I bought an Optic cord for the system, a higher end one, and it seems like it was worth it. There are a lot of presets that you can chose from which is good so you don't have to do and work. There is nothing bad about this system. The iPod connect is great. Tips if your not getting sound right away like me I had to hit the TV button and sound came out. It was like it knew. Then the iPod button is DMPORT which is the only idiotic thing there is but Sony has won me over.
