Wow!
Posted .After purchasing the Panasonic TC-55AS680U 240hz on Black Friday, I had a TV that I liked but didn't love. I really really wanted to love it after owning a 42" Panasonic Plasma for the past 5 years. The colors were good, picture was good, stand was extra sturdy and bezel looked great. I got the Panasonic on sale for $799 taking advantage of the 24 months no financing option that BB offers. I owned the Panasonic for 16 days (taking advantage of the black Friday extended return timeframe), until I found out Sunday that the Sony KDL55W700B had dropped down to the same price of $799. This was a no brainer to me after seeing the Sony, wanting it yet knowing that it was slightly out of my price range while buying the Panasonic. The next day I boxed up the Panasonic and traded it for the Sony. The first Sony I bought had a bent bezel and a bend in the screen on the left hand side. Of course this was after I had already opened up everything in the box and put the stand together. I packed everything back up and went back to BB where they apologized and immediately replaced it with a new Sony. Before I left the store a BB employee unpackaged the tv, checked it for any issues, plugged it in and made sure it powered up. He then very carefully helped me load it in my car. I couldn't be happier about the exceptional service I received that day. Once I finally got the TV home and set it up, I was amazed and knew I had made the right choice this time. The picture straight out of the box was incredible. Movies look great, Directv looks great, PS4 looks great (Very low input lag for gamers). My wife really loves the Netflix button on the remote control. I have since found calibration settings online and it took me about a day to figure out how to turn off the ECO settings to brighten the picture up but I now have it very close to perfect for my eyes. Pros: 1. Picture is incredible for the price range. 2. Seems to have a ton of apps. 3. Low input lag. 4. TV is super thin with an extremely small bezel. 5. 4 HDMI ports. There are very few things that I don't like about the TV but I won't remove a star because they're very minimal. 1. The stand. It's horrible, thin and feels cheap and springy and the tv feels like it leans slightly forward. The panasonic had a sturdy, wide, metal stand and felt very secure. 2. The power source comes with a brick. I'm guessing this is why the top 2/3 of the tv is so thin. Most people are already limited on space behind their entertainment center or stand and the power brick just adds to it. 3. Viewing angle. As with most LED tv's in this price range, this seems to be what you get. When viewed from an angle, you'll still see the tv fine but you won't get the same quality of color and picture as when viewing straight on. 4. The top 2/3rds or the thinnest part of the tv feels extremely fragile. The back of the tv feels like a thin plastic and I'm hesitant to put any pressure on it at all. This seems to be right where the first Sony I got bent, right where they thicker part meets the thin part. If you are looking for a tv in the $700-$900 price range, don't hesitate to buy this Sony. Don't let the 120hz scare you away, this tv does great with sports and fast action. Whether watching TV, DVDs/Blu-rays or gaming you won't be disappointed in the picture quality of this tv.

SONY Always Amazes ME
Posted .I went to Best Buy with a keen interest in a Samsung UN55H7150AFXZA. As I looked at the TV's they had this SONY KDL-55W700B right next to the Samsung. I was Blown away by the true Colors the Bravia Produced. The Samsung had these bright colors that didn't look realistic. Ohhh and the Blacks are Amazing. Don't Be fooled by the specs on paper as well. The Samsung may be a 240hz, and this SONY has 120HZ but this baby does not fall short. When your at the Store have them put VH1 Story Tellers on HD or a Sports Channel in HD so you can see the differences. You will be Amazed. Now the most important part to me was how the TV handled my PS4 and XB1. It Handles the Loads Like a Champ. Its my first 55 i like 40 to 46 TV's For gaming and this TV is simply Amazing. The Installation is So Simple and the wall mount kit Included Worked with my previous installed VESSA Mount. Basically this is a great TV for the Price. You will Love that you can connect it via WIFI and use all the APPS it comes With. If you download the Sony APP for you IPAD or IPHONE you can use it as a remote, The APP will learn the Shows you watch and After a week it will Start recommending shows you like. So basicly its your own Media Assistant as well. Great TV

SONY 55W700B IS A FANTASTIC HDTV
Posted .I previously had an 47" LG LM6700 and thought it's picture quality was good.. Although after about 2 years of ownership all of the HDMI ports stopped working. So off I went in search of another TV. I like to think I am a fairly tech savvy kind of guy. I am not an expert but I try to keep up. I had a budget of about $1100 total to spend on a new TV. Well I walked into Best Buy with the intention of trying to get into one of the 4K TV's. I wasn't too impressed at the selection at my price point. I think there was a 50" Samsung and a 55" Vizio. The Vizio had light uniformity issues and just an over-all unsatisfying picture. The Samsung had a good picture although it was only a 60Hz panel and I definitely wanted to step up to at least a 120Hz panel so I felt like I was sacrificing quality to get quantity of pixels so to speak. So I was kind of weighing my options and saw this 55 Inch Sony sitting in the open-box section for 836.00. I went and looked at one on display and thought it looked great but it was only 1080p and I had more money to spend. Well I took a shot and told the store manager i would take it home if he could take it down to 750+ whatever taxes. He did some stuff on the computer and said he could do that because it was on sale and so my decision was made. I know best buy has a great return policy so if I didn't like it or something was wrong I could return it no problem. (I later found out the TV had never even been turned on, the people who returned it bought it and opened it to try to fit it in their car and couldn't so it was returned) So I got home, set it up and started trying to find things to critique and I am good at that. I couldn't find anything I didn't like. The Color reproduction is absolutely phenomenal on this television, the video processing is superb and the over-all picture quality for 1080p is outstanding. I seriously feel like it is a 4K TV when I am watching a high quality Netflix stream or Blu-Ray. It is a really great picture. I have seen some people complain about the speakers. While they aren't awesome, they are pretty good if you know how to tweak them. I used the music setting, then just messed with the equalizer myself. My equalizer settings are in an attached picture and make the sound very good for TV speakers. Voices are clear, mid levels are great, bass is lacking but what do you expect? I honestly thought i was going to return this TV. But I saved 300 dollars and got a terrific television. In a few years when 4K is the new mainstream I will sell this one and go pick one up. But for now i would have had to invest too much money to get any kind of quality. A cool fact, you can use the TV remote to control your ps4, just enable the hdmi link in system settings. It's easy as pie. If you are on the fence about this TV just do yourself a favor and go pick it up. It is the best TV your going to get under 1000 dollars. It has great light uniformity, video processing and color reproduction. The smart functions work very well with no lag and the home section is intuitive and gives you plenty of apps to play with, you can even make the front led . Plus you can play playstation 3 games on it if your into streaming games for a monthly fee. I am glad I am not an "early adopter" of 4K and saved some money in the process.Oh and I think I figured out why you can't find this particular model anywhere else. It appears to be a model outside of the US (India from what I can tell) that was picked up by the US market only for BestBuy I hope I helped someone out with this review!

Excellent 1080P Sony TV
||Posted .This is an excellent 1080P HDTV from Sony. The TV looks great - sleek with beautiful small silver bezel, picture quality is superb for a 1080P TV - sony tvs have excellent picture processing and color, sound is good at 20W, if you need more sound you could add a sound bar. I highly recommend this excellent 1080P to anyone that is hesitant to get a 4k TV since there is not much 4k content available anyways.

Quality TV
||Posted .We remodeled an upstairs living space and bought this TV to mount above the fireplace. It looks fantastic and works perfectly with the wall mount. I especially love the stainless steel trim as opposed to black trim. As far as the TV itself, what more can be said as it's a Sony? It has a quality picture, color and operation. Will be purchasing another for our downstairs remodel.

Just short of being perfect.
||Posted .I bought this tv back in November. I replaced a 42 inch plasma. It took a bit to get used to the image. I tweaked and tinkered with it all through January. Around the middle of January, it just started to pop! I mean the colors were more vivid, everything just looked great on it. The only reason it's just shy of being perfect is that the image isn't consistent on all channels. That may be because of Comcast, but I tested that. Other than that, it's been a great tv.

Amazing Pictures!
||Posted .If you care about how your pictures look on your television you will be blown away by this Sony! I had a 10 year old Sony Grand Wega LCD projection tv which I thought had great pictures, but this one blows that old set out of the water. My old set also had some design flaws which were troublesome at times but overall gave me many hours of fine entertainment. This new set has more bells and whistles than I will probably ever use, but I wanted the 3D circuitry for the best 2D pictures, and the smart apps will be handy later on if and when I get wifi at my house. I set the picture to vivid for the pop it provides, but brought the contrast down to about 80, the sharpness down to about 65, brightness to 50, and the color down to 45. DVD looks almost like blu ray on my Sony Blu Ray player, and even laserdisc looks amazing as this set has the connectors on the back for the older disc players as well as 4 HDMI plugs! Have the DVR hooked up to Sony receiver with surround sound for great sound effects as the built in speakers on this set are not loud enough for most applications. The brushed silver frame is very stylish and matches my other Sony components. I get so tired of the tacky shiny black frames that most led tvs seem to come with these days. I got this set for Christmas and it was on sale for 799. which was a steal as far as I'm concerned, so I have been using this set for a month as of today.

Q: QuestionCan this TV swivel on the stand?
Asked by Jenn.
- A:Answer No, it does not swivel. AND........ if you have to ask that question, then be aware that the "stand" is not sturdy AT ALL.. This TV is meant to be hooked on the wall. In fact, if you do use the stand, you are supposed to "anchor it down".... wire/etc not included to do this, either. You will not want to have children around this set unless you support it!!! I would have preferred that Sony sell the TV as a wall mount, and then just charge an extra $50 for a sturdy stand, if you are not going to hang it on the wall. BTW, the picture is fantastic!!! I love the set,

Q: QuestionIs a sound bar a "must" with this TV? Some of the Sony's have better speakers than others.
Asked by Tracey.
- A:Answer No sound bar is not needed not unless you want your neighbors to call the police for noise problems. I do not have a sound bar and only need it barely half way up from max because it gets too loud! If you want the iMax movie experience and walls to be shaking then yes a sound bar is required but if you are not deaf and can hear normally, no soundbars are needed just the regular speakers that come with the tv!

Q: QuestionDoes it pass through DD 5.1 through optical output?Does this TV pass a Dolby Digital 5.1 signal from a device hooked up through HDMI through the optical digital output? This is needed for many soundbars to work correctly.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer We have this TV connected via digital optical audio connector to our old Sony receiver, model STR-DA1ES, which does not have an HDMI connection, and it does pass through the Dolby Digital 5.1 signals to our home theater set-up. Hope this is the question you were trying to have answered.
