Great aftermarket Radio definitely I recommend it!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After browsing a bunch of aftermarket radios with Apple Car Play I finally found this one and had Geek Squad install it I will add that they installed it within an hour and did a great electrical job. Once the radio was installed I played around with the radio the touch responsiveness is great the Bluetooth auto connect is fairly fast. The light from the screen at night isn’t too too bright but just rite and even better it works with complicated cars like my Volkswagen oh yea and it’s Sony!

The vehicle doesn't have steering wheel controls but they still had us buy the $99 harness. The unit is narrower than our stock one but the functionality is great! My wife has an iPhone so she loves the apple carplay feature. It makes things so easy. This unit doesn't have gps built in but uses your phone to provide this. This means, when connected to the stereo, you get navigation and elmost features of your phone. (Calling, texts, navigation, contacts, and music). There is no disk player but we have not played a CD in years anyway. Stereos like this take a few seconds to come on once you start the car so it's not instantaneous like stock cheaper units with no screen. Makes sense as it is a mini computer.

My first Sony Car Head unit

Great price for the headunit itself especially since they were sold out of the cheaper model that I wanted and they agreed to sell this radio to me at the price of the other one. Lakeland store has the best customer service.

- A:Answer Have it installed in my Jeep. Connectivity with iPhone 7 via USB works perfectly. The deck automatically switches to CarPlay when plugged in. There is a noticeable difference between the sound quality when it's playing a song via Bluetooth and when I plug in the USB port. That said Bluetooth works well on its own but it does not support CayPlay via Bluetooth.

Q: QuestionCONFUSED about the free installation deal. The pictured "fine print" says hardware not included. So if I buy this unit, it will not get installed in my car free, but they will just show me how to press some buttons??

- A:Answer Unfortunately, the unit by itself (any after market head unit) is not enough. To replace the system that came with the car, you need at a minimum, a dash kit (the surrounding plastic) and a wiring harness (which connects the head unit's wiring to your car's native wiring). That way you don't cut any wires and you can re-install the original head unit. Best Buy will install the aftermarket head unit and re-install the original one if you sell the car and want to take the head unit into your new car. In addition to this, yiu may need antenna, amplifier etc. and steering wheel control for the head unit. Best Buy charges $60 for hooking up steering wheel controls and the parts will be extra. Best Buy charges $130 for installing backup camera. Basically depending on your car and what you are getting installed, you will have an additional charge of $75 to $350.

Q: QuestionDoes this unit feature any inputs, such as aux. or usb? I don't need a CD player but, prefer to access most of my music collection via a thumb drive and usb rather than Bluetooth streaming.

- A:Answer Yes, it has a USB input. I use mine for Android Auto but there is a selection for USB audio as well.

- A:Answer No it will only open a screen like apple car play or androud auto. If you want to play movies they have to be on a thumb drive.
