Light Bleed Issue
|Posted .I originally went into Best Buy looking to purchase a Samsung 4k tv. But after speaking with employees and seeing this tv, I was impressed. The picture looked great and the design was incredible. The tv was the thinnest I have seen and it was also android tv which I really liked. To top it off, it also came with its own wall mount so I didn't have to make an extra purchase. So, I decided on this one instead of the Samsung I originally was set on. However, as soon as I got it home and all set up, I was disappointed. Along the bottom and the corners, there was terrible light bleed. During dark scenes or letterbox movies, the light bleed is so bad, it distracts you from what you are watching. Dark scenes and the blacks get washed out and look gray. As I looked into this, the reviews on several sites, including Best Buy and Sony all talk of the light bleed issue. I called Sony and was told there is not an issue with this tv but I could start a trouble ticket on it. I called Best Buy instead and spoke to them about this and showed them pictures. They were great in helping replace this and try another. But the second tv was just as bad with the light bleed as the first. I spoke to Sony again on phone and even communicated with them by email sending them pictures of the problem. After about a week of this, I received a call from Sony telling me their technicians stated that this tv was operating within normal parameters. I was not happy with this. I asked them if an obvious physical defect was normal for a brand new tv as expensive as this. It should be noted that with both, I did as instructed and checked all the settings and did several factory resets. That does not fix a physical defect as I pointed out to them that they denied was an issue. So, I contacted Best Buy once more and decided to give up on Sony and go with the original Samsung I first intended on purchasing. Best Buy was very helpful in helping with a third try. Now, I started all this in late December and at the beginning of February, they ordered the Samsung replacement for me. Well, On the 16th it was delivered and I was happy, until they unboxed the Samsung. Cracked screen!!! Ya, my luck, so now I have to wait until around the 25th when they say they should have one in stock to deliver. So, I learned that I should have gone with my first thought and avoided this Sony. This experience also caused me to reconsider a couple other Sony purchases since then. Sorry Sony. But thank you Best Buy for being helpful.

Sony 65" 4K HDR Review
|Posted .This tv is is awesome and the picture shows great. Movies show well and the sound is okay. It's not perfect. It it will do. The only problem that I have with my tv is when the screen is dark there is SOOOOO MUCH LIGHT BLEEDING AROUND THE EDGES AND THE BOTTOM OF THE TV!!! I don't think that it is supposed to be like this but I try and deal with it. It's a good tv as long as this light bleeding is not showing.

Light bleed minor, but could be bad for others
Posted .I recently purchased the 65 inch 810c from bestbuy a week back. The lighting was dim, the colors were bland, and the worst part about it was the fact that when I played games on it they had these huge darker shaded lines that were fixed into the screen like screen burn. The day I was going to return it I spoke to one of the workers about getting a good tv with all of the problems fixed. He showed me the 65x900c. When I viewed it in the store I could already tell the major difference in color and quality! It was right next to the x810c so I could do a good side-by-side breakdown of the two. The 900c has sonys advanced color technology as well as being very thin and having a glass face really helps bring out the look of the overall unit. In the store model though, there was alot of light bleeding out from the bottom two corners. The worker said they accidentally damaged it when putting it up. Well after looking at many of the reviews online I see it has been a common issue, but I decided to test my luck anyway and get the unit. After I brought it home and mounted it "with care" the tv is absolutely AMAZING! The colors are superb, the features are very nice with its android os, it came with an optional touch pad remote (which I use very often), but the reason I am giving it a 4 star is because of the light bleed. Now If I knew everyone was going to get the same light bleed as my unit has then it would be a 5 star, the light bleed is so minimal that the only way to notice it is in a dark room with a pitch black screen, the bleeding is probably a cm tall and it's spaced out throughout the bottom so it blends in with the viewing experience. With the picture quality, features, and overall design I would honesyly highly recommend this tv!

Great TV but disappointed overall!
|Posted .The Sony XBR-65X900C is a great television overall but I had significant trouble with it's black levels despite efforts to adjust it's picture settings. I experienced what is called a flashighting effect. Flashlighting is when a white cloud like area of the screen is present when watching programs that have dark scenes or when watching a movie displayed in letter box. The flashlighting effect I experienced was most significant around the corners of the screen but was also present around the edges. Sony's engineers told me that what I was experiencing is within normal operating parameters. Best Buy's salesperson told me that he had heard this complaint before and that the television should not be having this problem. I just returned the television and am awaiting a new one, the same model, to see if the problem I was having was an anomaly and specific to the television I bought. I am hoping, when the new one gets here, it will not have the same problem or I will return it also and purchase a different model. With all of that said, the television's color and picture clarity was outstanding. In addition to this, the television's user interface, i.e. android operating system, was outstanding as well. If, when I get my new television and the black levels are where they should be, I would highly recommend others consider purchasing this television.

Excellent pic if you can get one with less LB
|Posted .I purchased this from Best buy on 01/25/16, had it delivered on 02/06/16. Initially the light bleed in the corners were a minimum but after some pretty continuous playback the light bleed became a lot more evident during movies and such. During video games and non dark scenes I haven't seen much better upscaling or more accurate colors. Sony did a great job with those. It's a shame that the light bleed on these models are so bad. I would definitely purchase an extended warranty at bestbuy/hhgreg or wherever you get it to make sure if you have any issues you aren't stuck with an expensive eyesore. I retuned the first one seen here. If it stayed about as dim as it started I would have been completely happy about the product (see credits picture). Even if it got brighter over a few days. I just haven't seen any other displays look as bad as this after a few days of playback. The second TV is a lot better so far. I've had it for about a week and the light bleed hasn't become too bad. You only really notice it during letterbox movies or dark scenes. I wouldn't recommend this tv if you wanted a TV primarily for movies for this reason. If you are planning on playing video games or watching sports where there are all bright areas I believe this TV is the best out there for those things due to the superior 4k upscaling and color quality. If you want to only really watch movies or something go with an OLED within your budget. For videogames I couldn't be happier with another monitor.

Great TV
|Posted .A great TV, that allows me to watch everything I want!!! Movies, News, Sports right at my fingertips! Great access to the internet and all the stuff available can be accessed (with a few subscriptions but mostly from what I already had access to)! The TV picture is great and sound is okay, but I don't have a separate sound system that would make it super! I would buy it all over again!

Gorgeous TV
Posted .I read the extensive negative reviews of this TV regarding the light bleed. But for every bad review I would read, I could find a 5-star review to match it. It seemed with this Sony model, it was a panel lottery to see which category you would fall into. Mine is a Sony household. This is the third Sony 3D HD TV in the house, in addition to two PS3s, Sony surround system, and three 3D Blu-ray players. So when it came down to adding a TV, Sony was my default choice. I was wanting a 4K TV with passive 3d support, and 65 inches was my target range. This TV rose to the surface as the obvious choice for me. Having been so satisfied with Sony over the years, I was disappointed to read about the obvious failure of quality control of the 900C model, and their subsequent failure to make the situation right. Nevertheless, I ultimately decided to pull the trigger anyways and made the purchase based on Best Buy's extremely customer-friendly return policy. My panel has negligible light bleed in the bottom right and left corners. However, it is so negligible, I honestly can say I would never have noticed it had I not been looking for it. So, it appears I have won the panel lottery and came up with a sound television. Just in case it gets worse, though, I'm keeping the box for the 30-day return period. Anyways, to the TV. Aesthetically, it's gorgeous. The screen is thinner than my smart phone and the colors really pop. I love the secondary navigation remote control, which uses a touch pad to navigate through the various smart features. It comes with its own wall mount, which is a nice extra. Regarding all the smart features, this thing is top of the line and I have no regrets. I dock a star for the aforementioned problems associated with this model. As to whether I'd recommend this TV, I'd say yes, but buy it from Best Buy where the return policy is very customer friendly just in case there are issues with the light bleed.

Okay set, terrible customer service (Sony)
|Posted .Purchased this tv and have had issues with the light leaking from the bottom corners of the screen. A little difficult to notice during very bright scenes but very clear when any dark image is being recreated on screen. Attempted to go through Sony under their warranty but have not been able to reach their email address. Spoke with customer service 3 separate times and was given the run around after the first conversation. At this point I have sent 10 emails to stvsp@am.sony.com, which have not been delivered. Customer service refuses to give me another email address to contact and at this point I am completely unsatisfied in their "efforts" to help the customer. Terrible way to treat a customer that just invested in their company. Save yourself the time and effort and pick up a 4k unit from another company.

Q: QuestionLight bleedLooking at this to buy but afraid to after reading the light bleed issues. Sony, have you collected all the bad lots that have light bleed or you just hoping they will sell and people not know the difference? $3000 is too much to spend for a lemon.
Asked by Cindy.
- A:Answer This is somebody who went through the Entire Process of the Light Bleed with this TV. I bought the 65" 900C, the day it came out. I saw the light bleed and I was like No Way! So I returned it and bought the 65" 850C. You can see the Major Difference between the 850C and the 900C. The 850C is Dull as a Rock and the 900C just sparkles with that light bleed. So I was waiting for the 75" 910C, so a few days before It was being released, I went into best buy to ask them if they fixed the light bleed issue with the 75" 910C. They said that they fixed it with the 65" 900C, so I bought the 65" 900C and have been happy ever since. I have had it for over a month now and have been pleased. You do notice the light bleed a little, but now\t like how it was when it first came out!
