My god what is this beast?
||Posted .I shot Nikon for 8 years... 8 YEARS! from d3200 to d7100, to d750 all the way up the d810... Every upgrade gave me something slightly better but overall it was still really about the same camera. Better ISO, more megapixels, and so on, But the way I shot never really changed. I could produce amazing results on either one of the nikons without ever really feeling like the camera was any better. The auto focus, no matter how much hype there was with every upgrade, frankly still felt like I still had to do all the work. Tracking, framing, focus recompose, hold the camera steady/"properly", or get a OS lens, shaky hands? sorry shoot higher shutter speeds. ALL on me as if Auto focus was somehow a required skill for photographers... But this...this is a whole new world. would you ever shoot sports with say...a 85mm prime on nikon or canon? probably not. But on the R3, sony says "here shoot what you want, how you want, when you want, and hey here's 42 megapixles at 10fps for the blank of it, oh and only $3200" WHAT?! To get that kind of performance on nikon or canon you would have to spend $6000 dollars, and you STILL dont get a live image preview, you still dont get a true silent shutter, and you STILL dont get a fully customizable button layout. AND I MEAN FULLY custom. Like i can set individual buttons to focus areas with different shutter, iso , and aperture combos. YEAH. Sony litterally said "DO WHAT EVER YOU WANT WITH THIS" its insane. Oh yeah and 5 axis image stabilization makes it so irrelevant stuff like camera holding etiquette can jump off a bridge. Ive shot portraits one handed with the camera parrallel to my body, WHILE holding the camera BY THE LENS! DO WHAT YOU WANT! Best camera on the market for sure.

Great for when you get composition wrong
||Posted .Composition can make or break a great photo. With the A7R3, if you get the composition wrong, the ability to crop maintaining incredible detail is amazing to get that just right composition. The eye auto focus is amazingly fast and the 10 fps shooting is incredible. I recommend getting the UHS-II card for this camera. Keep in mind that only one slot is UHS-II and the other UHS-I. It would have been nice to have both at UHS-II. It would have been nice to have the Sony UHS-II reader as a companion to this camera included instead of separate purchase but that has nothing to do with the camera. As far as the camera, the battery life is nearly all day for the hobbyist but I recommend carry of a second battery. With the prior generation, I had to carry 4 batteries. This is a huge plus on great battery life. I like the dual slots. A pro camera to never miss a shot as I have two SD cards in the camera and the 2nd SD Card always serves as a backup to the 1st. With the great ISO and 5-axis stabilization, I can finally take evening shots without a tripod and really capture the moment.

Went mirrorless
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. So far, this is a GREAT CAMERA. I have much to learn but , being a long term Sony camera user, I am finding it relatively easy. It is just so much lighter to carry and the A mount to E mount converter is letting me use my array of lenses. I am very happy that I purchased this camera and recommend it for professional work. The 42 megapixel sensor is great.

Great camera for the serious camera enthusiast.
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Purchased this camera at the end of May. Such an epic camera! Love the colors it produces and the mega-pixels on this camera is crazy high. A small learning curve as I am switching from another brand but fairly easy to learn if you have some prior knowledge about photography. Highly recommend!

Fantastic high resolution camera
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Simply put, this is a fantastic high resolution camera capable of the very highest results possible with proper techniques. As a lifelong 30+ year Nikon user, I find it a bit finicky but that’s to be expected between systems. Using an a7ii and a7Riii. Practice makes perfect!

Q: QuestionI can't figure out the difference between Alpha a7 III and Alpha a7R III. I would greatly appreciate any input anyone might have. Thanks!
Asked by Naz.
- A:Answer The A7III has a 24mp sensor with 693 autofocus points. The A7RIII has a 42 mp sensor with 425 autofocus points. The A7III may perform slightly better in low light at higher ISOs than the A7RIII. The A7RIII has pixel-shift multi-shoot mode for added sharpness and detail when shooting still objects, etc. If you need the ultimate in resolution and plan to create very large photos, the A7RIII has the pixels to do so. If you aren't interested in the ultra-high image size but want a very versatile camera, the A7III is amazing.

Q: QuestionIf Pre-Ordered Is there any guesstimate of how long shipping will take after release date or when it will be available for in-store pickup?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer They have not been good about having the new Sony on release date. A9 didn't come till a few weeks later and this is not available today
Answered by Jason
Q: QuestionMy order got delayed, it says that I will probably get it by Dec 29. If It doesn't come in by that time, my order will get cancelled. I was wondering if I might get it sooner because I don't feel like waiting longer if it's just going to be cancelled?..
Asked by Joseph.
- A:Answer I work at Best Buy & pre-ordered the camera myself. I personally have the A7ii, and wanted to upgrade to the A7riii. I know that usually when you pre order items you get it that day of release. But for my camera I didn't and was told that when Best Buy gets the camera in stock they will fulfill my preorder. But that could take months :(. So I just decided to get the A7rii for now & upgrade to the A7riii later on next year. I just couldn't be cameraless for too long. If you are in the same position I would call theBridge and ask them what your preorder is looking like right now.

Q: QuestionCan you drop down and shoot in Lower megapixels? And what are the actual megapixel numbers of the Lower formats? Thanks
Asked by JR.
- A:Answer You can only shoot in uncompressed or compressed RAW. And record small medium and large JPEG‘s. You’re raw files are 42 megapixels. Make sure you have lots of hard drive space and a fast computer

Q: QuestionIs it possible to switch the language to german when you buy the cam in the usa ?
Asked by Mario.
- A:Answer You can access language again in the Setup 4 menu. However German is not listed on my camera nor is any specific language addressed in the manual. Maybe try for a download from Sony or ask on Sony's forum. Good Luck
