Outstanding!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Image quality far outweighs what little negatives I could find. Took this on a trip to D.C. and was blown away with the performance and practicality of this small bodied APS-C camera. Low light museum shots were sharp without flash using the kit lens. Video is smooth and sharp! Auto focus system is very snappy and the touch screen focus is a nice bonus. Only negative is the screen can be difficult to see at times in bright sunlight but I knew this prior to purchase. Wifi transfer to iphone worked great. Battery held up most of the day but you can always use a phone jumper battery to charge in your jacket pocket between shots if you don’t have a spare. Overall you’re getting same sensor and processing as the a6000 just trading a EVF for a touch screen and a slightly slower FPS shooting. With a good selection of lenes, this is a huge step up from phone cameras as well as nicer point and shoot cameras.

A great camera. Exceptional for the price.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an APS-C camera. Same sensor size and as many (or more) megapixels than a big APS-C Nikon or Canon DSLR. But this camera is minituarized to the max. It will quite literally fit in your pocket. Not a jeans pocket. But it will fit in the pocket of loose khakis, shorts, or any jacket. And you get stupendous image quality. I'd say it's first among any APS-C camera. You need to spend thousands to get a better camera. And this camera is at the sweet spot of value for money. At twice the price, it's worth it. For best results shoot RAW and spend the $100 for Lightroom and make your images the rival of anything, anywhere. If you shoot only JPG, your images will still look amazing. If you're on the fence about this camera, GET IT!

Great Vlogging Camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded from a Nikon coolpix camera and it was the best decision! I needed a camera that wouldn’t break the bank, but would give me quality video for vlogging. I’m glad I made the investment, it is user friendly and puts out quality video. The only issue is that it will occasionally overheat while filming. Luckily I primarily use it for product review and I shoot in small increments. I also was able to get more out of the still photos after taking a class at my Best Buy location.

Powerful camera with excellent photos
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony a5100 with the 16-50 lens is one of the best cameras on the market. It takes fabulous shots even with the kit lens. There is no better camera available for the money. It is also highly portable. With its impressive sensor, it borders on being a professional level camera. But it is also easy to use by the amateur.

Fun size. Great quality.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing quality photos. Outstanding ISO performance. Better finishes than A5000. Upgradeable. If you love to make adjustments, go for a A6000. This is a great quality upgradeable point and shot with manual adjustment capabilities.

Great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love everything about it. The flip screen, the size, and definitely its features. Although I wish there was an easier way to transfer all types of the video setting and not just the mp4. Besides that its perfect for someone on the go like me that want that perfect photo.

Very pleased
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tool this on trip to Seychelles and South Africa and it exceeded my expectations. Didnt want to lug a big DSLR and needed something functional and easy to use. Fit in my purse with no issues. One drawback for me was the fact that the photos while in motion (some safari shots were a fail) were not good but I did get amazing still shots. Another drawback was getting the app and then setting up photo transfer. I got so frustrated I resorted to just the old school plug in and upload to computer (although this was super fast). Cherry on top would be a remote to take photos from afar.

Q: QuestionI want to start doing daily vlogs on YouTube...I'm stuck between the Sony a5100 and the Canon G7X Mark ii. Which one do you think is better and why?
Asked by NahlasMom.
- A:Answer I had the same issue when I was deciding. I ended up going for the A5100. After watching many reviews on both cameras, sometimes side by side comparisons, I decided this camera was the one I wanted (A5100). I liked the sound quality on this one better. Also when seeing the side by side comparisons, the colors and video quality was more lifelike (to me) on the Sony. It is a fragile camera. Just don't go throwing it around and you'll be fine. I also really liked how this camera has a "smart" feature for both photo and video. Meaning the camera will adjust the lighting for you (helpful if you're a beginner). I would reccommend watching some comparison videos on YouTube if you haven't already.

Q: QuestionHow do i send pictures to my phone? using wifi.I Cant figure it out
Asked by kakita10.
- A:Answer If you are using an iPhone, download the App "Play Memories Mobile." Then open up the wifi on your phone to accept your camera. Then open up the wifi while the photos are being transferred. You'll have the photos saved on the camera roll and available to you on the app as well.

Q: QuestionI am double minded between getting the Sony Alpha a5100 or 6000? I am only going to take makeup selfies for instagram and OOTDs, therefore, I want the selfie screen 5100 comes with. However, for image quality I read 6000 is better? Please help!
Asked by Kim.
- A:Answer I would say go with the a5100 it's really good if you're just wanting it for selfies. Right out of the box with its setting is not good, so you will have to change some settings for a better picture in low light. Hope that helps.

Q: QuestionWhen using the built in wifi am i able to send videos to my iphone?
Asked by josiahe111.
- A:Answer Yes-ish. You have to set your File Format in the camera to shoot in MP4 in order to then send it to your phone. If you shoot the video in AVCHD or XAVC S to get a different frame rate, it will not send it to your phone because phones can only read the MP4 files. You don't have to change any settings to send a photo to your phone, though.

Q: QuestionDoes A5100 kit lens have image stabilization?Read that A5100 & A6000 don't have in-built image stabilization. So was curios if A5100 kit lens have image stabilization? If yes, how does the image stabilization compare to A6000 lens?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes, there is image stabilization. There's no in-body image stabilization in the a5100. But the 16-50mm kit lens has a quite good in-lens image stabilization, called OSS -- Optical Steady Shot.

Q: QuestionWill the 16-50mm lens work well for recording or taking pictures during a college graduation?I would like to be able to buy a camera that has enough zoom to the point where I can see the stage. Will the first lens work or will I have to purchase another lens for zooming?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The 16-50mm is good for short distance. For a large halls, you'll need the 55-210mm lens. They sell the A5100 with the 55-210mm lens as a package. This would be the best deal for you, and the package also save you more money when compared buying separately.
