Excellent Camera
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Camera, OK lenses. The camera took a little getting used too since I have full frame NIKON that is heavier then a brick, which I hated lugging around. This one is a feather weight and does what I want albeit the sensor is smaller then a full frame, the image quality is excellent. I'd buy it again, minus the kit lenses which I replaced the shorter zoom with Sony's Carl Zeiss, Varo-Tessar E 4/16-70 ZA OSS, which works with a full frame mirrorless camera E mount, with the added benefits of it being lightweight and does not need coverage out to the edge of the lens (smaller CCD then a full frame) thus the edge sharpness is very good.

The best for it's price!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is probably the best camera for its price. Use a good lens and you can't tell a difference between this camera's pictures and professional photos (on social media at least)! Sure, if you blow up these pictures to poster size or billboard size it can't compete with the $5000 camera/lenses, but for Social media/Friends/Family this will do perfectly! My Top 3 lens that I carry with me when I travel: 1. Sigma 16mm F/1.4 Amazing, best IQ. Great for landscape, astrophotography, low light, street photo and architecture. 2. Sony 35mm F/1.8 OSS My all fav versatile lens. This isn't as sharp as the Sigma, but it's pretty darn close. I use this for everything I don't use the Sigma and Sony 55-210mm for: indoors, low light, portraits, occasional street photography if the Sigma doesn't get what I want. It's small so sometimes I just throw it into my backpack and i'm good to go. 3. Sony 55-210mm OSS lens. This is the best telephoto lens for it's price. I can't afford the other telephoto lens in the 200-400mm range (at least $1200!). This is definitely not the greatest telephoto lens in terms of IQ. It does AF fast though. I use this for zoom only (mainly wildlife) or something interesting I need to zoom up close but can't physically get there. I use this lens the least, only for certain occasions where I can't reach the subject. There you have it, the big 3 combo for the a6000 that will literally get you any shot you need possible. I love how small and compact it is and it gives you excellent quality pics. For instance, if I am going to a restaurant for a special occasion with friends I would never bring a massive DSLR with me. However I don't mind bringing the a6000 with the Sony 35mm at all! It just looks like a point and shoot camera that provides professional quality images. Oh yeah, I don't use the kit lens 16-50mm at all since I don't feel like it takes that great of pictures (just okay). So my 5 stars for this product is the overall versatile use of the a6000 camera and not limited to just those two lenses that come with this package.

Amazing camera!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a camera to take great quality pictures of my service dog. This camera.. I wish I can rate it more than 5 stars.. First, there are so many different settings to choose from "night, fast moving object, so on". 2nd, I absolutely love the setting where you take a picture and the camera automatically focuses on the subject and blurs the background. 3rd. It can capture 11 pictures in 1 second on shooting mode. This camera is fantastic. 4th, when you want to send your picture to your smart phone, all you have to do is "send to smartphone" the camera will pop up a wifi name, join that wifi on your phone and boom! Those pictures are now on your phone! Simple. Easy. Quality photos. I love it! I can take a picture from extreme distance, and it still gives me quality pictures! Wish I have known about this camera sooner! I was definitely hesitant paying Over $ 500 for a camera.. But I definitely don't regret my decision!

Works well!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Seems to be a wonderful camera so far. I am far from being a pro, but have not really took much time to get into this camera. It is far superior to any phone camera as you can see. I wanted a camera that would capture more than basic stuff. I have at least 1 or 2 really good photos so far of my dog, crystal clear. I have yet to explore all of the options on the phone. Theres a decent bit to working it all. I have the basics, photo and video, but need to learn more about the other options on here. I got a wonderful deal on this camera, brand new for $500. I was hooked up really good from the store. The manager worked with me very well to make up for a mistake. This was on sale for 300 off and they gave me another 200 off bringing it down to $500.

Amazing camera for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not a professional photographer, but I enjoy taking lots of photos and post my favorites on instagram. I always wanted to take macro shots and also be able to take up close photos of animals so I searched for an interchangeable lens camera that wasn't too expensive. I read great reviews about the Sony A6000 and they were all positive. There are a lot more expensive models out there but I just needed a camera that was not too big, but would allow me to switch between a macro lens and a zoom lens, and allow me to learn manual settings as I have been too reliant on auto settings with my RX100. I am so glad I picked the A6000. I watched a couple of YouTube videos on how to setup the camera and I was all set! Ive been able to take amazing macro shots of flowers and insects (I did buy a separate Sony macro lens for this purpose), and I have been very happy that finally I was able to take very clear photos of hummingbirds in midair, foxes and raccoons on the run using the zoom lens. Switching between lenses is super easy. With an HDMI to micro HDMI cable, I just plug the camera directly to my TV and I can review all my photos on the big screen. once I know which ones I like, I then transfer the photos from the camera to my smartphone which is a breeze with Sony's Imaging Edge Mobile App which uses wifi. Literally you just select the photos, turn on the app and say go. It takes seconds to transfer. Then, I just crop and edit and post to Instagram! Very happy with this camera! I don't know why I waited so long to get one.

Sony a6000 Exactly Fit My Use
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently returned to amateur photography. I searched for a digital camera that wasn't too large but could deliver high quality images. I selected the Sony a6000 and am very glad I did. This camera is small compared to other mirrorless cameras offering similar settings and options. It's light and fits my hand comfortably - exactly what I wanted. The extensive menu of selections and options puts the user in control. But, the camera can take great photos without the user knowing or selecting all the options. In fact, the more advanced options can be "left alone" to simplify using the camera. Initially the menus can appear overwhelming but it's relatively easy to learn the paths to the more common settings. I encourage referencing online resources; there are several excellent videos that saved me a ton of time. The 55-210 mm lens works great - just know it's not a $1500 lens. I have found it can take some very good photos and the a6000's digital zoom adds additional image magnification with good image quality. I won't go into all the specifications - there are many online sources for that. I will say the a6000 meets all my photography needs and then some; I'm still learning and improving my photography skills. In a nutshell: it's a great, affordable camera and a lot of fun to use. Enjoy.

I am not wanting the a6300
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this camera. I was worried about not waiting for the a6300. But I am more concerned with image quality. From my research they mostly the same in this regards. Yes the a6300 seems to show whites better when you pixel peep but this is not for professional use. I got mine open box and could not justify paying more than twice as much for the a6300. Now would I rather have a6300 of course. But I will wait. I sold the included lens and got a 35 mm 1.8 and I tried the 18-105 g for a while but sold that also. I just purchased the 18-200 off eBay. We shall see. I also have the Sony rx100 iv. As my everyday camera. Love that.

LOVE THIS CAMERA!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always wanted a mirrorless camera when they first came out, but was hesitant about how these camera's perform because I have always used a Nikon DLSR knowing all to well that they perform at their best when used correctly. I finally bit the bullet and spent the $800.00 on this camera. I took it out on a photoshoot two days after I got it. It does very well. The telephoto lens is great as well. I could take multiple shots without losing a shot with continuous shutter speed unlike the DSLR. The pictures are sharp and defined. The thing, I love the most is the weight compared to lunging around a big DSLR. This camera will not replace my Nikon 7100. But I have come to realize that when I fly to a destination, this will definitely be my camera to take because it is light weight and not bulky and that it does fit in a smaller camera bag. The only thing I'm going to replace is the neck or shoulder strap. It is rough on the back of the neck and it doesn't come with a charger. You have to charge the battery in the camera. So I ordered me extra batteries that come with a charger on Amazon.

Q: QuestionWhich camera would u guys recommend between sony a6000 and the canon EOS Rebel T6I price is $100.00 difference and I just want a camera for my family . Good quality pictures (kids) Thanks
Asked by Liz.
- A:Answer I would recommend the sony for multiple reasons. Its cheaper, mirrorless, has more capabilities, and is an all around better camera in my opinion. And you can get a lens adapter and put just about any lens, old or new, from any brand, on the sony a6000. I bought it amd couldnt be happier. Another tip: try to wait for someone to return one, so you get the open box discount, I got the option with the extra 55-210mm lens for the same price as the camera alone because of the open box discount.

Q: QuestionHow's the battery life? Does a full charge last for a few hours at least? Curious if it is necessary to have or purchase a back-up battery right away.
Asked by Marian.
- A:Answer I'm not sure how long the battery will last, but I took 154 pictures (most with flash) over a period of 6 hours, and the battery still had a lot of juice in it.
Answered by TomD
Q: QuestionWhat lenses are compatible with this camera? I have a sigma lens could I use that with an adapter.
Asked by Naja.
- A:Answer Naja, it should work. Depending on what camera mount the lens was made for, you would need an adapter from that, to the camera. For example, if the lens is for a Canon EF mount, you would need an EF to NEX adapter. Almost any lens can be adapted to this camera. One issue is that if your lens is a modern auto focusing and image stabilized lens, the adapters are a bit expensive, $150 or more. If you have an old film lens, however, the adapters run $15-20. These would be completely manual of course.

Q: QuestionDoes this camera have a trimming option? Can this camera trim or crop photos in camera without having to use computer software to crop the photos? I previously owned a Sony DSC-H1 and it was able to trim the photo in camera, can this camera do that?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hi! Yes. When this product detects and shoots faces, macro shooting subjects or subjects that are tracked by [Lock-on AF], the product automatically trims the image into an appropriate composition, and then saves it. Both the original and the trimmed images are saved. The trimmed image is recorded in the same size as the original image size. -Anthony

Q: QuestionI've had Sony Mirrorless NEX 3 for 3 years, and am happy overall. There's a common shutter problem with these cameras (Google Sony NEX Camera Error). I'd love to upgrade to this camera, but am concerned Sony's still making defective cameras. Advise...

Q: QuestionI will mainly be using this camera for my son's football games. Will the lenses provided be good enough for action shots, or do I need to by a specific lense for action? I have never owned a mirrorless camera but i am very interested in this one.
Asked by Atkrock.
- A:Answer The shutterspeed with this camera is incredibly faster which makes taking quick pictures a lot easier. The pictures are more accurate to what you're seeing through the viewfinder as well. The lenses are great and I think the big lense will do well, the packaging even includes a hood for it. The only factor that might make a difference in taking action photos is zooming in and out with the lense body. Even though it's like any other dslr where you turn the lense, it's a more graceful process which makes things feel slower. There is also an alternative toggle mechanism for zooming if you don't like the action of turning the lense. I recommend going into a store and playing with one to get a feel for it.
