The best Sony TV ever?
Posted .My Aunt has this tv in her living room. And its the best Sony BRAVIA 46" Class / 1080p / 120Hz / LED-LCD HDTV ever?

people need to quit bashing this tv
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendSo you know where I'm coming from, I just sold my 50" Bravia rear projection 1080p which was an amazing tv, never said or heard a bad thing about it. I have this hooked up to a PS3 and Xbox360 via HDMI, digital cable and Wii via components and the picture quality is amazing, seriously. My last Bravia was beautiful and this one blows it away. I was very skeptical to buy this because of the low recommendation rate and so much bad picture talk. In my honest opinion, if you're not interested in fine tuning the picture or paying someone to do it for you, this is not the TV for you. If you have a movie with a THX optimizer built in it will really help you achieve the proper settings and unlike my last Bravia the settings used for HDMI are pretty close to what is needed for all other inputs. This makes it much easier to set up all of the inputs. I think most bad reviews on this TV are from those who don't have any setting guidance to help see the proper picture. The overall brightness with how dark the blacks are will blow you away. I have surround but I briefly tried the speakers just to see and they're pretty much what you'd expect from a flat panel; decent but nothing special. You can now fully control a PS3 directly from the TV remote. Would recommend it if you're willing to set up the proper picture, completely worth it.

OK picture, nice features for the price
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendOut of the box, setting CUSTOM mode, WARM2, ECO power to Low, turning the backlight down to MIN or 1, and Color to 55-60 gives a decent, non-sun-burn picture based on some test patterns. I tried the PixelPerfect mode for HD, but my cable box seems to have issues at the extreme edges, so I stick with the Normal mode, which has a typical 3% overscan, which is fine. For SD/480p, +1 mode gives very low (1% or so) overscan. You need to adjust these for each input, though. Basic selection of Wide modes, but no 4:3 mode for HD, which would un-squeeze Stretch-O-Vision channels like HGTV-HD. As on many newer TV's, you can get very detailed settings in the Advanced menus, including Gamma and White Balance. Also, it's typically best to disable most of the fancy features. I found MotionFlow too distracting, and which there was a 'low' setting instead of just Standard and High. The selection of on-line services is good, but many have very out-of-date material. All I've really used so far is Netflix streaming (already a subscriber), which worked fine after registering first on a Sony site, then registering the TV on Netflix. You can only view and delete titles already in your instant queue. You have to use your computer to add titles, unfortunately. Although I normally use a cable box, the scan of channels through the RF input went pretty fast, including the unencrypted digitals. Channel changing speed is decent for digital. Buried in the preferences menu is an advanced screen with signal levels and other tech info. There are a few issues: 480i signals tend to have a high black level (gray instead of black). You cannot really adjust it without causing HD signals to be too dark if they are on the same input. The black is not perfectly even, probably due to the way the edge-lit LED has to spread the light. There is some slight spottiness visible on a very dark screen. The CPU seems a bit slow, and there is a lag in responding to some remote selections compared to older TV's. For example, changing WIDE modes takes about a second or 2 for the menu, then you can actually change the mode. You can't just hit WIDE a few times, as further pushes are ignored until the menu shows.

I love this TV
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI have had this TV since June 2010 and wanted to post my review. I absolutely love this TV. I got it in a package which included a home theater system and a blu-ray player with built-in WiFi. The picture for any HD channel is awesome. Standard Definition channels still look good, but you don't buy a big flat screen if you don't get HD service. The picture is very crisp, clear, and bright. My PS3 looks awesome on this TV too and blu-rays look amazing. Playing PS3 games is so much more fun now. I also hook my laptop to the TV via an HDMI cord and it looks awesome too. I looked at a few Samsungs, LG's, and Sharp TV's and I wound up with this Sony. I don't like flat screens with the glossy/reflective screens like a lot of other brands have. I don't want to see a reflection of myself when I'm watching TV. This is definitely one of the best 46 inch TV's out there right now. I hope this review was helpful. If you get this TV you will definitely be happy with it. Some of my friends just bought an LG and a Samsung and said my picture is better.

Solid TV, looks great on a wall!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI must start off by saying I am not much into numbers or specifications when it comes to electronics. I rely on my ears and eyes to tell me the story since that is what matters. Having prefaced this review with that, I can say that my eyes and ears still love this TV! It looks great when its on and off, the matte finish on the screen is a Huge plus for me. My set is upstairs in a room with lots of sunlight and the matte finish reduces the glare dramatically. I love the presence sensor. I tend to have the TV on at night as I fall asleep and with this feature I never have to think about setting a sleep timer, it shuts off all by itself, a great feature which will save the screen from any possible "image burning" also. The quality of the picture on the screen is as good as the content being sent to it... SD TV is as good as it can be, live HD satellite programming (news, sports) looks great, HD satellite movies (TNT, TBS, etc.) look spectacular, and Blu-Ray Discs made for such TV's look life-like!!! (eg. Avatar, Star Trek)

Very Nice, and First Flat Screen....
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis is an awesome TV. We were watching Life on Discovery Channel the other night and our dog heard some whinning from the wolf cubs. He looked up at the screen then saw a full grown wolf and started approaching the TV with his ears perked up. It was hilarous. He then wanted outside and ran over behind where the TV is on the wall. I guess he thought it was in our backyard. He has never looked at our TV before. The picture quality is amazing and it was still not 1080p since cable and sattelite companies are still not broadcasting in 1080p. The sound was good when i heard it. That is why I gave it a 5 star rating because I have mine hooked up through a reciever for better sound quality. Once you have the internet hooked up to the TV, everything just appears on the screen that you need and just follow the prompts. Same thing with my laptop, I could view pictures from my laptop on the TV...Its just there. How cool is that. Its just that simple. I don't have a BlueRay player yet, just a regular DVD with upconvert to 1080i. Now that picture quality is more amazing than sattelite. WOW. I was actually shopping for a Samsung 46" LCD. Luckly, I had my wife with me and the salesman took us over to the Sony on the endcap with amazing picture (of course this is an LED LCD) and she said well this one has a whole lot better picture than the Samsung, you should get this one. I was thinking, oh my gosh, twist my arm. You don't have to tell me twice. I love it. For just 300 dollars more, you can't go wrong. Worth every penny. I hope this helps for anyone else trying to make a decision.

Whats not to like!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought this TV to replace my 40XBR800 monster tube HDTV. It finally gave out after 9 yrs. Nothing compares to the quality that a CRT can give you but I must say this TV is stunning. Picture is GREAT, blacks are well done and contrast is to kill for. The SD programming is also very good for an LCD. The sound is good...not great. After you go though the menu's and tweak things, you can get it pretty good. Overall, this TV is a great buy and a good way to save money over the NX700 series. With the NX, all you paying extra for is exterior looks. I know there are people out there bashing this TV, but its definitely top notch. I always shop around when I'm in the market for TV's but I always end up with Sony in the end....it cant be beat and you get what you pay for.

My Best TV Ever!!!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI really love this TV. Pros- The video is very vivid and colorful. The HD detail is awesome. Even though the tv is not 3d, there is so much depth that there are scenes that look almost 3d. If you are a techie you will love this TV as there are many bells and whistles. From the eco-sensor function to listening to your own MP3 files. The eco- motion sensor is if the TV doesn't detect movement after a specified time it will go into standby mode until it detects movement. The menu interface is user friendly and is just like the PS3 interface. If you have the PS3 Slim you can use the BRAVIA Sync to control your PS3. I love the BRAVIA Internet Widgets that come with the BRAVIA and are still expanding. I.E. I do not have a cable box, but now have the "TV Guide" which updates from the internet automatically. This is a big plus as I haven't had a guide in a few years. I can stream my Netflix account directly to the TV, instead of using my PS3 or Xbox. There are several widgets that are very similar to video on-demand that are accessible with the internet option; including Local Weather, flickr, You Tube, Yahoo Video, and Network mini episodes. You can use a USB flash drive to view your pictures, photos, and listen to music files threw your TV. This is not just a TV with amazing video it is “TV meets computer world”. Cons- It took me a while to go through and really understand all of the settings for my Bravia. But once I made the adjustments the way I wanted, the TV looks just like it did at the store. The HD video is phenomenal. All though the TV is easy to use, all of the extras may be too much for someone that is not very techie or into widgets/social media.
