Video is brighter than Go pros. Sound with waterproof housing on isn't good (there are "fix it" videos on YouTube), but sound is great without it. Live View Remote wrist band is awesome, and controls the camera. Will be using in Philippines this year, at the beach, Lord willing. can link up smart phone and view live or control video and also edit. Has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Will enjoy using this action cam. Doesn't come with lens protector, but can order from ebay or Amazon (Good for when not using waterproof housing).

My friend bought a gopro 5 the same day I got this Sony so we could compare them. I really liked that Sony made de camera and the case tripod ready, it has stereo sound, it's very very light so it's easy to carry with me everywhere I go. I'd doesn't make movies in 4k, but you can make time-lapse in 4k. The case makes the sound muffled but the image quality is still good. I really like sony's vivid colors, so thus was the best choice for me! I do miss the touch screen but it's very easy to navigate with the 3 buttons. Battery lasts a lot longer than the gopros.

This is a great action camera for the right situation. It is perfect for mounting to a bicycle, headgear, kayak and the like, but I wouldn't say it's a replacement for a GoPro due to size and the GoPro having many more accessories. There is one HUGE plus and that is the wrist strap mini camera. Just to give an example of how you can be creative with usage; I set up the camera on a mini tripod and place it at the corner of our camper. I can then walk around both inside and out and use the wrist strap camera to keep an eye on the kids.
