4Let's bring balance to the force
PostedJBergenElite Plus Member
The PlayStation 4 is a gorgeous piece of hardware. Good, now that we have that out of the way let's talk about a few things I've noticed on Amazon's website reviews for the newest member of Sony's stable of game consoles. As of this review there are 492 1 star reviews against 1615 reviews total. This would amount to a 30% failure rate of new consoles shipped if we can consider this a large enough sample size. Here on Best Buy's site there are 102 reviews with 22 being 1-2 star reviews, meaning approximately a 22% failure rate. If this is true then it is remarkably difficult to believe given that the standard failure rates of new technology, even at their worse, have a tendency to be under 10% in the very worst of scenarios (barring the RROD from the original Xbox 360 but that was an extreme case from a company not used to making their own hardware). Given this I would take these reviews with a grain of salt, but I thought I would throw my two cents into the discussion as I have been a loyal gamer since the days of the original NES. Design: As I stated above, the PlayStation 4 is a nice looking piece of kit. Sony has always been on the forefront of hardware design and it really shows here, given the power they are packing into a unit no bigger than a PlayStation 3 slim model. There is no power brick, no protruding buttons, and everything just blends together for a game system that looks like it is supposed to be from 2013. However, the design is not without flaws. Given that the power supply is integrated you will notice that he PlayStation 4 runs warm to the touch. It is not anything to get worried about but you do want to make sure there is some ventilation for the system. The disc drive is also noticeably loud. For Blu-ray and DVD movies you aren't really going to hear it but when the system loads up a game initially (remember even disc based games get installed to the hard drive) the disc drive screams as if to simulate the roar from the AMD Jaguar cores that power the system. Performance: Fast. The PlayStation 4 is fast. Menus flow smoothly, apps load quickly, and everything absolutely just works when compared to current generation console menus. Games install very quickly and those install times will only get better over time as game publishers learn how to optimize performance. Graphics: This is still out for debate given that Sony claims a 10x performance boost but first generation games almost never leverage the streghths. Killlzone: Shadow Fall and Resogun are gorgeous, if not basic games in their own right, but in my opinion there are no games currently that reflect the true nature of the graphics capabilities. The true visual fidelity will come with Bungie's Destiny and Ubisoft's Watch Dogs. Camera: I know Sony wanted to bring the cost down by not including the camera. I picked it up and I will say this...wait. The functionality is not really there and what is there doesn't work well. End of story. Media: Sony apparently didn't care much about media for the first round of PlayStation 4 software. All the basics are there (Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, Vudu, etc) but none are really fleshed out and easily accessible. The fact that Sony refused to put an IR port in order for universal remotes to control the system really hampers its ability to be a primary box since you always have to use the DualShock 4 to control the system. One word of warning, ironically, comes with using Amazon's Video on Demand application. It freezes my console every time I use it. It is not a random occurrence and this is isolated to Amazon's application only as far as my testing is concerned. This is a HUGE oversight and Amazon does need to rectify this issue quickly. Games: I will make this easy yet again...there are no games out barring KillZone: Shadow Fall and Resogun that really look next gen. We should see the true start to next generation graphics come next March when the second wave of games start to get released. Conclusion: The PlayStation 4 is a four star rating for me solely on potential and the fun I have had playing a few games and seeing the possibilities with the system. The social sharing is cool but I have not used it enough to truly lend my voice to it. I hope this review helps and try not to read into the plethora of 1 star reviews here on Amazon...I have a feeling many of them are not legitimate. Happy gaming!

4Great Product, Could use some work

Setup Setup was overall easy with the ps4 being overall light and compact. The overall look of the PS4 is sharp and pleasing to the eyes. The system needed an immediate update when starting for the first time. Connecting to your home WI-fi or Ethernet took little to no effort. The update was also quick and simple. Dash Board The dash board on the ps4 didn't really seem to have much pop to it. The background as far as I know is not able to be changed. All of the apps are easy to get to and are organized extremely well. switching between apps happens quickly with little to no waiting. If you get the play station camera the camera can be set up to recognize your face when it turns on to automatically sign you in. Controller Sony has done an amazing job with the controller. Not only does it feel great in your hands, you can plug in any standard headphones into the controller and the sound will go through your headphones instead of the tv (Xbox One requires a specific headset) . Compared to the Ps3 the Ps4 controller seems to feel right at home in your hands. Your fingers wrap around the back of the controller and settles right in. There is also a small speaker on the controller that adds some dynamic to game play. If you have multiple controllers the controller can be linked to a persons account. So if you and your friend are both playing on the same ps4, if he presses the "PS" button it will go to his home screen and vice versa if you press it. The controllers also have a nice led light that interacts with games. In kill zone for example when your health is low the led will change in color to reflect low health. Not sure how useful that is since you would have to look on the front of the controller to see it, but it seems like a nice function. Their is no longer a "start" or "select" button they have been replaced with "share" and "option". This takes a little getting use to, but after a few uses it becomes as natural as the ps3 controller. The controller also has a nice touch pad on the top of the controller. Its a useful function to have as it adds to the game. Kill zone uses this function to send out your drone in game. -You Are able to link any Bluetooth keyboard to the PS4 has well. This helps with inputting keys. The keyboard can also be used to navigate the home screen if you would like. When the keyboard is detected it will ask which user is using the device so it will know whose profile to let the keyboard control. If your TV has "CEC" capability you will be able to use your TV remote to control your ps4. So no extra Bluetooth remote will be necessary to pause and play movies. With the CEC function the PS4 will turn on your TV and audio reviver when the system is turned on. So you could literally just grab the Sony controller press the PS button and be ready to go. This function has came in handy plenty of times and is easy to set up. Video Playback The PS4 does NOT support 3D Blu-ray at this time. I believe Sony does plan to release an update in the future to allow this. Playing blu rays is not any different than the ps3. However when you press the "PS" while watching a blu ray, it will force you to close the blu-ray app in order to view your home screen. When exiting the movie it takes about 10 seconds to load your home screen. When resuming the movie it takes about another 10 seconds to load back. When you exit the blu ray the movie will start over This is really annoying and im hoping Sony fixes this with the next updates. I've checked the settings and have not found any that fix this problem. The quality of the movies however are outstanding and is by far one of the best blu-ray players i have seen. Including the Sony version that upscale to 4k resolution. Keep in mind all of these negatives can be fixed with a simple firmware update. Gameplay Every game must be installed before playing the game. This can take an average of 5-15min. Most games can be played while installing but not all of the features will be available and the graphics may not look as good. I recommend while the game is installing take advantage of the live stream function and watch other people play the game. One of the new features of the PS4 is being able to pause game play to do things in your dashboard and immediately resume playing your game when you are done. I believe this feature could use some work. If you have a game downloaded from the store and want to take a break to watch a blu ray you have to close the game application in order to watch the movie.(The game WILL resume where you left off) You can use pretty much any other app while playing a game withoutt being asked to close the app as long as it is not another game. If you do play another game the game will start over. Some of the games are more interactive than last gen. The ps4 utilizes the speaker in the controller which adds a little more dynamics to the game play. Load times are also noticeable faster than that of the Xbox one. While playing any game the PS4 is constantly recording your game play. If you do something you like during the game play, with a a push of the "share" button the ps4 will upload and save that moment for you. This works for screenshots as well. Keep in mind that the quality of the video is not all that great. You can also broadcast live game play for other people to watch if you want as well. Graphics Graphics are pretty well close to current 1080p PC specs. There is more depth than last gen consoles and things in the background do not look like bulky blocks. PC gamers will appreciate that. Games like kill zone really demonstrates this within the first few minutes of playing the campaign mode. I did notice a difference in the way the game looks depending on the TV that was used. PS4 absolutely blows the last gen graphics out of the water. The video capture mode built in the ps4 really does not due the games justice. Games run natively at 1080p which is a nice plus if you are going to be sitting close to the screen. If not you really wont notice the difference between that and the 720p Xbox one version of games. As for as gaming in 4k. The PS4 does not have the horsepower to push 4k graphics neither does the Xbox one. Playing 4k movies is a different story and could be supported in the future. Upgradeability This is were Sony takes Microsoft to the slaughter house. The hardrive in the PS4 can be upgraded to a larger after market drive. As long as the drive fits in the bay (2.5") you can use it. And Sony has stated that doing so WILL NOT void your warranty unlike the xbox one. You could even opt to put in a SSD in your PS4 to see a increase in load times. Increasing your drive to a few terabytes is an easy upgrade that can be done in a few minutes. If you guys have any questions about the PS4 or want to see some comparison of the PS4 and X1 let me know and I will knock it out for ya. My Specs- TV- Sony 65XBR850 TV as well as Samsung 55" 6000 series tv for testing. Receiver- Pioneer VSX-1123

4Great system, minor flaws.

I am very happy with my purchase. However, even though the PS4 is a great system there are a few minor nuances. Let's start from the day I purchased my system. I was so excited it felt like it was Christmas or my Birthday but it was even better it was my wedding anniversary and my wife was about to spoil me. I had waited and not purchased the console at launch due to the poor performance and a bad experience with the PS3. I have always been a fan of Sony's systems and games so it was only a matter of time. I was not going to buy it for myself until it had proved itself worthy. However, to my surprise my wife had other plans in store for me. Now when I went to pick out the system I was told I could buy a game as well. Unfortunately, the selection was slim and sad. It has been over a half a year and there are barely any games for it. So I picked up two games FFXIV and then later that week Second Son. Both look amazing and I already play FFXIV on PC but for some reason it runs smoother on the PS4. The remote play feature on the vita is awesome and why I decided to get the game on PS4. So, now that I had my game it was time to run home and set it up on my home theater as soon as humanly possible. I get home, hook it up to my 55" LG LED and surround system, connect the controller to USB and then hit the power button. On my screen displays the famous Playstation Logo, then the 1st time setup screens appear and after navigating the menus and entering my information I finally boot into the main page of the System. I say main page because that is what it looks like, a social network site. OK, now it's time to get my game on. But hold up, I decided I want to test the other features before I lose the next few hours of my life to the land of Eorzea. So I grab a 3D Blu Ray movie and put it in the system. Nope, does not work. OK so maybe the system does not support 3D, how about just regular Blu Ray? Yes, the regular Blu Rays play just fine. Next, I decided I want to see what kind of sound this system can put out so I grab my favorite CD and... nope... does not work either. Wow, this was upsetting. Why in this day in age, can I watch movies but can't listen to music? Whatever, not a deal breaker I bought this thing for games. So let's move on. I put in the FFXIV disc and perform the setup, everything goes fine. The game boots up and the games looks fantastic, no complaints. Later that week, I get a chance to play again. Life is hectic we have responsibilities and we can't always play everyday, even though we wish we could. Now, I have been playing FFXIV since the PC launch and it looks great on my PC and now it looks just as great on the PS4. However, like most gamers we need variety. So I decided to pick up Second Son. After making my purchase I go home, open the game, power on the PS4 and... nothing. The system beeps 3 times and shuts off. "OK?", I think to myself. Maybe this is just a fluke. Try to power it on again, nothing just 1 beep. Third time must be the charm, right? Nope, nothing. The system just tries to boot up but then turns right back off. Now at this point I am thinking I have a bad system but instead of returning it I decide I should check the internet and see if anyone else if having this issue. Well not to my surprise, there were others also having the same issue. The solution? Boot into safe mode. OK so what, my PS4 is now a PC? What should I expect next, the blue screen of death? So I follow the online instructions, boot my system into safe mode and select "Change Resolution". The PS4 reboots and what do you know, I finally see that beautiful Playstation Logo again. It's a bit pixelated since the resolution is 480P but I could care less. I can go into the settings and change it back to 1080P. The important thing is that I can get my game on now. The voice of the internet also suggested turning off HDCP, never leaving the system in standby mode and changing a few other settings. So here we are today. Almost 2 months have passed since I brought my little bundle of joy home. Things have been a roller coaster of emotions, it's always keeping me up at night and constantly needing my attention. The sync issues have improved since the last update but occasionally I still have to boot into safe mode and unfortunately here are still very few games. However, if E3 is any indication of what's to come. Then I am very excited to watch my library of games grow and I look forward to the days ahead where we will spend hours playing with each other. Pros: Great Graphics Good Price compared to XB1 Solid and sexy UI Great online infrastructure Cons: HDCP sync issues with some tv's Lack of games Lack of features (though expected to increase with patches) Overall: I would recommend this as a buy. If you enjoy games and the exclusives that Sony has to offer then this is the platform for you.

5I Chose PS4 Over XBOX One ... Here is Why
PostedBigGeek2Elite Plus Member
As a PS3 and XBOX 360 owner, I was looking forward to nextgen. I chose the PS4 for reasons I will describe in a bit, but first things first: Pros: - Nice sleek design - Major improvement on controllers - Interface is very responsive, and easy to navigate - Sharing your gameplay is ridiculously simple - The graphics are - well, the best any console to date has to offer - The PSN Subscription includes 5 Free Games already - which is a very impressive perk (Resogun, DC Universe, Contrast, Warframe, and Blacklight Retribution) - The Games (i've played) look gorgeous (COD, Killzone, FIFA and Assasins Creed) Cons: - My PS3 Sony Bluetooth Remote wont work? Why not? No excuse for that - My PS3 Sony Bluetooth Headset wont work? Crazy - nickel and diming! - I cant play my PS3 games. I understand why, but still sucks - 7 years of my game library I cant play unless I keep my PS3. Why I picked PS4 over XBOX One It was actually a simple choice after the details came out about both systems. The PS4 is a better gaming machine, and for my gaming console, I want the console that is the best at delivering games. I seriously do not understand how Microsoft could do this. Why would they put out a console with less GPU power than their competitor, and on top of that, charge $100 more? I don't get it. This isn't to say the XBOX One doesn't look great, but its not as good as the PS4 for games, period. There is no dispute on this - the PS4 GPU is 40 to 50% better, plus the PS4 has faster RAM. The games coming out are 1080p on the PS4 and 720p on XBOX. Xbox fans and reviewers can spin it all they want, but at the end of the day, the PS4 has better hardware (not just slightly better, 40 to 50% better) which is a HUGE difference in potential for games. Sure, there may be some great looking games on Xbox, but the same game on a PS4 will look better (assuming the game studio is worth their salt) just as a game on XBOX One should look better than on an XBOX 360 -- because the hardware is capable of delivering it. The XBOX One in my opinion wants to be my gaming console. Apple TV, cable box, and phone all in one. The thing is, I like my Apple TV, and my phone, and my ... ok, well I dont really like my cable box, but you get my point. Im not looking for those things in my gaming console. If thats your thing, and you dont mind not having the best console for gaming (the PS4), and you dont mind spending an extra $100, then the XBOX is an excellent choice. Comparing the PS4 to PS3 and/or XBOX 360 This one is tough. The PS3 and XBOX 360 are pretty nice consoles - both which have some awesome games. The gameplay on those consoles is usually very solid. In general, the graphics on PS4 vs either of those is quite noticeable. Colors are more vibrant, details much sharper, and animations buttery smooth. There is definitely a difference. However, I wouldn't say the jump was like moving from my PS2 to XBOX360 (if you can remember back that far). Don't get me wrong, its enough of a difference to get excited about, and your jaw may drop from time to time as you admire the scenery, and you may look back at your old XBOX 360 games and start to notice lack of detail on things that used to look just fine before. Summary I would imagine anyone getting a PS4 (minus any unlucky folks getting a DOA unit) would be extremely satisfied, especially since it combines the best gaming console available, at $100 less than the competition. And while it does offer quite a bit of multimedia features, my understanding is that if that is your thing, you may want to have a look at the XBOX One.

5Great System
Posted3nvyElite Plus Member
I have a launch-day PS4 and so far I absolutely love it. The redesigned interface is clean and easy to navigate. Your most recent played games and used "apps" migrate to the left of the horizontal list. When you highlight a thumbnail for a game, for example, the screen populates with detailed information regarding that particular game. This is a neat feature of the interface. Anyone familiar with the chat system on the PS3 knows it was terrible. Now on the PS4, you are able to cross-game chat in a private party. Inviting friends and joining party chat is a breeze. This is one of my favorite features of the new system. The new chat system supports 8 people in a party. If you are coming from Xbox 360, this system is very similar and I can honestly say I like Sony's chat system better than Microsoft's. If you are upgrading from a PS3, this will likely be one of your favorite features as well. The controller is nearly perfect. The totally redesigned controller fits in your hands thanks to it being slightly wider. The area that your palms rest on has been extended to make the controller more ergonomic. The L/R triggers are redesigned so they no longer accidentally press when setting the controller down. Also, each trigger has a small curve that your finger rests into perfectly. The L/R bumpers been tweaked and are perfectly positioned above the triggers. The sticks are shorter but more responsive. I really like the new design of the thumb tips on each stick, however, I would have liked to see some sort of "grip" on the top similar to the Xbox One controller. Beyond that, my fingers feel more stable on the sticks and I have really enjoyed using the controller. I even prefer this controller over the Xbox One's. Sony made a good choice to allow game developers input on how the controller was designed. Installing games is quick and painless. I like being able to partially download a game and start playing. There is no more waiting for the whole game to download and install before you can launch it. Another nice feature is the auto-update for games and system firmware. I keep my system in standby mode, so when updates become available, the system automatically download and installs them. In your "notification" area of the interface you can see the recent activities; this is where you can see what updates were automatically installed. The new share button on the remote captures screen shots or allows you to broadcast live game play. I played around with this a little and it was pretty cool. Broadcasting your game play requires you to set up a Twitch or UStream account (which can be done through the PS4 interface). Setting up this feature only took a minute and I was broadcasting. Other gamers can then watch your live broadcast and even post comments as you play. Aesthetically, the PS4 is beautifully designed. When in standby, the LED bar glows orange. During boot up, the bar pulses blue, and when fully powered up, its white The unit is small and sleek and looks great on the entertainment center. Other thoughts: The controller battery life is shorter than the old PS3 remotes. I attribute this to the light bar in the new controller as there is no way to turn the light off. The PS4 will continue to charge the controller using it's USB ports if the PS4 if left in standby mode. The playstation app is great but lacks some features at launch. Eventually this is going to support second-screen. Currently, I can see all of my invites, notifications, and messages using the app. I am also able to controller my PS4 when connected to the same network my PS4 is on. Getting messages and sending messages can be done through the app or the PS4. This is nice as I often receive messages when offline, but I will get them on my phone. I can then respond quickly, which is important being that I am clan leader for our Ghosts clan. Overall, I am extremely happy with all aspects of the new gaming system. The interface, graphics, game play, controller...everything. Sony really got this one right. I would highly recommend this system to everyone thinking about upgrading to a next gen console. Oh, and Resogun is a blast to play (free with PSN)!!

5PS4 is a great system
PostedzoyanoElite Plus Member
The PS4 is an improvement over the PS3 in every way. The menus and response are quick, moving in and out of games and between a game and the Internet or the view Twitch/Ustream content is a breeze. You can use voice commands either with the camera or with any mic. You can plug any pair of headphones with or without mic into the controller to use for game and/or chat audio. 1. I didn't think I would use the screenshot or upload video feature, but I actually post screenshots to Twitter quite a bit, and have taken a number of videos. The only issue here is videos can only be uploaded to Facebook, so while I've uploaded a bunch I haven't taken the time to rip them from Facebook to post to YouTube which is really the only place I would share a video link from. I have tried streaming to Twitch a few times but I always play late at night and can't really talk much into my mic or have the camera on so I never get anyone watching my stream. 2. The system is amazingly fast, and the improvement from the XMB to the new Dynamic Menu is great. Everything reacts quickly now, and pressing the PS button (or saying Playstation Home) from within a game no longer takes forever to get to the home screen. You can also multitask in so many applications now where with the PS3 I think the only thing you could usually load was the browser. Now you can launch PS Store, party chats, even watch Twitch or Ustream streams and then go back to your game at any time. Games install as soon as you put the disc in and the auto update feature and remote turning on your PS4 to make it DL a game is great. I have PS+ so I see all the benefits of stand by mode as well. Only downside is any game you have data installed for whether the disc is in or not stays in the bottom section on the menu, and there's no way to group into folders or by letters or anything like there was on PS3. I guess I could just use voice to find the game by name and then say start, but man I'd like a way to sort all that stuff. 3. The PS app is nice, and it can function as a keyboard to input info and it has second screen functionality for anything that might use it, currently only the PlayRoom. This is also where you can click to go the PS store and make games download remotely, the only dumb thing is this just takes you to the mobile website in your browser rather than building something native into the app. 4. The DualShock 4 is to me hands down the best controller I have ever used. I tried to play my PS3 the other night and the difference between the 3 and 4 is ridiculous. The Analog sticks feel SO much better now, they widened the whole controller a bit, and then put the triggers on there for L2/R2 finally. The touchpad leaves many possibilities for games, and I like that they got rid of the Start/Select buttons and now it's Options and a Share button up top. There is also a speaker in the controller like Wii has, which you can turn off, but for the games that use it it's interesting. The only downside to the controller is battery life probably due to the light bar on the back which is always on and you can't turn it off at least not yet. I could play forever with my DS3s, with my DS4s I get maybe 6 to 8 hours depending on the game and if they are making the colors change on the light bar. 5. I bought the camera, and I would say at this point it's not really worth the investment unless you just like to have everything in case something cool comes out. The PlayRoom was fun for about 10 minutes, my girls like to play it but other than that I never go in there any more. I use it as a mic every once and a while, but usually I have my Turtle Beach PX4s on for mic and game audio. I hope they release good apps/games for it in the future, and I really hope they get Skype or some decent video calling app. It's a good thing they dropped it from the box, because at this point with only one app really using it that would have been a shame to jack the entire price up. The only other thing it's good for is if you stream video and then people can see you as you plan in the little box on Twitch. 6. The games look awesome, I didn't think it could get better than PS3/360 games but man you can really see the detail in everything. Assassin's Creed 4 looks amazing, and so did COD Ghosts, they even upgraded DCUO for the PS4 to look better (which the PC has looked like all this time). 7. The games I've played so far have been AC4, COD Ghosts, Contrast, Warframe, DCUO, FIFA 14 Demo. AC4 I'm still playing, I am still enjoying it and is probably one of the best if not the best launch game. COD Ghosts was meh, then I played multi like twice, and the alien extinction mode a few times and haven't gone back, I think I need to trade in for BF4. Contrast is interesting, but nothing I think I'll go back to unless I'm bored one day and feel like a platform puzzler. Warframe is a cool Free to Play third person shooter rpg'ish game, which is actually on PC also and I believe as of the last update you can play your characters on both. DCUO I still have fun with because I know a few people that play and I'm in a pretty active league, with all the upgrades and how well it plays on PS4 now I'll probably play it for a while still. The FIFA demo I DL just because I had been watching a stream of a guy playing it and it looked like fun, and I have to say the demo makes me want to buy it. I asked for it for Xmas so we'll see. 8. I really want to get a Vita to try out the remote play and other interacting function but not at the price tag for a Vita right now. I had the PS3 linked with my PSP and then I never touched it again after that one day, so I don't know how much I would use the Vita to warrant $200. I'm loving the system and find it really hard to play my PS3 which sucks because there are a bunch of games I still need to finish on it, plus PS+ games that I keep getting and want to play. The biggest thing I'm irritated about is that Watch Dogs got pushed back, I was really wanting that game and AC4 to hold me over until games like Infamous, The Division or a Naughty Dog came out but guess I'll need to play DCUO more to keep me busy. I have played my PS4 just about every night since I got it, sometimes I just go on and watch what people are streaming.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I come from having a day one PS3 unit. I purchased day one releases of the PS4 and XBOX ONE. I purchased from Best Buy because they offer **REAL** rewards verses the points for trinkets joke over at Game Stop. Some may ask why I purchased both units. I am a huge fan of the National Football League and play Fantasy Football. From what I have read, the XBOX ONE is going to have interactive content with the NFL. For me that alone was enough to purchase an XBOX ONE. If the XBOX ONE did not offer the NFL content I would have taken a pass. What impresses me the most about the PS4 is the build quality of the unit. Its solidly built. There is nothing flimsy about the unit. All of the connection ports are solid. The PS4 controller feels solid and the supplied cables are adequate and include everything you need to get started. I love it when there are no surprise trips back to the store to get other wires, cables, etc. However, I am sure one of the knowledgeable associates at Best Buy would have advised me if something else was required. Yes the unit does require a system update out of the box. I consider this to be a good thing. It assures me that Sony is on top of what they are doing and knew something required a patch update to optimize performance and improve customer experience. I have a blazing fast TWC internet connection and I am hard wired to a router. The update took less than 4 minutes to download and install. The software interface feels the same as the PS3 with some enhancements and a more functional layout in my opinion. Set up and customization are a breeze. All operations are intuitive and are not difficult to use. For me the real plus was to be up, logged in, operational, and playing games in less than 20 minutes out of the box. Games purchased so far include: Assassins Creed Black Flag - Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty Ghosts. Game play has been outstanding. I only have two minor complaints: 1 - PLEASE STOP USING THE PIANO BLACK HIGH GLOSS FINISH (and that applies to all electronics manufacturers). You wipe this finish once and it will scratch. True its only half the unit. However, in my opinion, the entire unit should have been in the textured high impact plastic. Unless the manufacturer is going to put the Piano Black High Gloss Finish behind or underneath Gorilla Glass... They should refrain from using it.... PERIOD. 2 - PAY FOR PLAY HACKS ME OFF - PlayStation Network has moved to the XBOX style of PAY FOR PLAY. If you want to have the online multiplayer experience its going to cost you $50/year. I am not a fan of this move. However, they could have softened the blow and offered a multi year buy in discount of say 4 years for $100. Lets be honest... I am going to want online content as long as I own the system so a multi year deal appeals to me and I am sure I am not alone. Some are complaining about the limited game offerings and downloads available at this time. Its a new system people. Give them time!!! Soon we will be swimming in an ocean of games and download content. I found value in the 2 year extended warranty Best Buy offered for $89.00. Covers everything in the box for 2 full years. In my opinion, the PS4 is the system to own. Best Buy (thanks to the My Best Buy Program and two year extended protection they offer) is the only place to purchase from hands down.

5Best Console Choice
PostedCborries4In my opinion the Playstation 4 is the way to go for any gamer out there. This is coming from somebody who has owned multiple playstation and xbox products so this isn't a fanboy review like most of the lower rating reviews on here. Many of the main points why the PS4 is a better console for this generation: The hardware is much more powerful then Xbox1. Which means developers can make better games on the console compared to Xbox1. Better lighting, graphics, etc. Below is a comment from a 3rd party studio Ubisoft speaking out about the power of the PS4. In case you didn't know Assassins Creed is coming out on both Xbox1 and PS4. http://gamingbolt.com/ubisoft-explains-ps4-version-of-assassins-creed-4-will-have-superior-waves-and-wind-simulation $100 dollars cheaper than Xbox1. Who doesn't like that?? The reason Xbox1 is $100 more is because it comes with a kinect. In my opinion from owning one, Kinect is super overrated and xbox has yet to release a decent game for it. Playstation 4 has showed the best exclusives so far. Infamous, The Order (Developers from God Of War), Ratchet & Clank, Killzone. These aren't even counting the 1st party exclusives that haven't been announced yet like Naughty Dog, who just released The Last of Us. Best game of this generation. Not just my opinion... look at any review. Xbox1 really has only announced Halo and Forza so far. So those are my three main points. I'm not sure if their that big for you, but I'm a gamer and that's what I look for when choosing a console. And to me Playstation has an amazing track record starting with the first playstation. They make reliable consoles that have great games. That's all gamers want. There are a few more reasons why I beleive PS4 is the best choice but just check it out and decide yourself! www.ign.com, www.gametrailers.com, www.gamespot.com, www.n4g.com And once again, if any of this sounded fanboyish, do not be alarmed. I own a PS3 and Xbox 360.
