Easily competes with Beats
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony hit it out of the park with this set. First of all, the sale price alone makes these worth it. I purchased them on Black Friday 2015 in-store for $99 (regularly $199). Let's just talk simple Math first... I mean, for $99, you get a pair of Sony over-the-ear, wireless headphones. Repeat... these are 1. Sony, 2. over-the-ear and 3. wireless. Just for those three features alone, you would pay over $300 for Beats by Dre. Now, let's talk about the phones themselves. They fit great, and I have a fatter than average head. The headband has ten sliding positions to fit a head size up to at least over 8.5, maybe 9. I have a 7 3/4 hat size. It fits large if you need it! But, it also fits snug if you need it. As for the sound quality, wow! A very important feature is the auxiliary volume control on the phones. So, you can turn it up by your device volume control or use the volume control on the headphones. Second, there is a separate Bass Boost, that, when you push it, adds a ton of bass. I mean a ton!! When I first used them, the Bass Boost was not on and the sound was fantastic and clear at a very loud level. Then, I pushed the Bass Boost and I was blown away! The sound quality with the Bass Boost on is not distorted in any way. I was on a flight when I first experimented with these and I tested the Bass Boost to the song "Turn Down For What". The person across the aisle could hear the vibration of the phones against the back head rest on my seat, over the sound of the plane. That's how much bass this adds, all without distorting the quality. The best part about these are they are designed to go over-the-ear. This is the best style of headphone to get maximum sound from the headphone and minimum sound form the outside. With the sound at a medium listening level, I could hear the music perfectly clear while on the plane. They also do a good job of blocking out noise. I had to take them off every time I heard the ding on the plane so I could hear what they were saying. Now, for the Bluetooth. I own a pair of Jay Bird on-ear sports band headphones. Those Bluetooth consistently cut in and out, especially when I exercised or ran. I don't plan on using these to exercise or run (even though I could), but, they haven't cut in or out once. That means it has a good Bluetooth signal. Now, the design... they are made from aluminum and have a very modern, sleek look. The headband has a cushioned section across the top for comfort and to prevent the phones from sliding forward or backward on your head when you bend over. Also, the over-the-ear cushion is made of what I'm guessing is fake leather, however, it is soft and supple to the touch, could be real. Very soft, comfortable feel when wearing. The only downside for me was the ability of the material to breathe is non-existent. After wearing for thirty minutes or more, my hair and ears would be wet from sweat when I remove the phones. That's a minor detail. Also, aside from the Bass Boost button I mentioned, there are other controls on each ear. For example, on the right ear is the auxiliary volume control and the track <Back, >Forward and || Pause buttons. These get a little tricky because you're wearing them and you'll have to remember which way is forward track and which is back track. Pause is a simple push. On the left ear, there is the power on/off button and the Bass Boost button as well as the charge port (micro USB, provided) and a 3.5MM jack (cable provided) to hard wire into your device if you don't have Bluetooth available. And finally, there is an external mic that can be used to talk if you have to take a call while wearing and connected to Bluetooth. I tried this in the airport and the person had no idea I was speaking through a different mic. There is a teeny-tiny blue indicator light to show when the power is on and the same light blinks with a red flash when the Bluetooth is on. There is also another teeny-tiny orange dot to show when the Bass Boost is on. This light you really won't see since you can just push the Bass Boost while wearing the headphones. Trust me, you'll know when the Bass is on... you don't need a light. A neat feature is these ear pieces swivel to lay flat for storage in a backpack or bag with out getting hung up on stuff when you have to move them or take them out.

Great headphones
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love these headphones! Going straight to the point.. I've tried other headphones like boss,beats,ect..and I've picked these out of all of them the sound quality is great! WARNING THOUGH if you don't like extra bass they aren't for you. I love the bass on these but on some certain songs the bass can get a little too much if you have the extra bass on. I wear them when I go to the gym and traveling ect.. And they are comfortable and good quality they will last a long time. The battery last a very long time! Iv had them for 2 months now and only charged them twice. It's just depends on how often you use them. The Bluetooth is great connects to my phone automatically when I turn them on. I can walk around the house listening to music with out any problems the sound is clear and no distortions. Very happy with my purchase!

Great all around headphones
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love these headphones. I have had them for 2 weeks almost and I must say overall they are great. Nice sound wireless and plugged in as well. Wireless is how they intended them to be used more often so if you want the extra bass boost while plugged in its not going to happen most of the features are turned off when the cord is plugged in so its a regular set of headphones. They have nice sound when plugged in as well but when wireless they have the extra bass boost which doesn't sound harsh and it is clear and you can hear all other instruments and vocals very well with minimal sound leak. Battery life is good i got about 13 hours without needing a charge with bass constantly pumping and the controls are easy to reach and use and easy pairing with NFC if your device is capable and they are lightweight as i wear them for hours at work with no uncomfortable feeling and the big pads are easy to wear with glasses. My only gripe is for the price Sony could have included a bag or carrying case but you can find one online for cheap, the earcups swivel in and it does not fold and as i stated before no bass option can be used while plugged in. Overall i recommend these headphones.

My Favorite Headphones To Date
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I must have great sounding headphones. I've used Skull Candy Inkd for the longest time. After those would get ruined every year or so, I upgraded to their top tier in ear buds. I decided I wanted to switch to wireless headphones to use at the gym. I tried the Samsung Gear behind the head headphones and I didn't like how those bounced around when I moved. I listened to all the over the ear headphones at my local bestbuy and fell in love with these Sony's. I went to the Beats section first but was blown away by the sound of the MDR-XB950BT's. For nearly $100 cheaper than the Solos and even more than the studio, these have better quality and sound. Highly, HIGHLY recommend these!!

Not your average over-the-ear headphones
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Better than expected sound. These let me enjoy the depth in music of low base and high notes that come through instead of a narrow range found in other headphones. I also watch movies on my device and hear growls and high pitched screams with background noises in scenes I couldn't hear with the other brand I had. The noise cancellation is excellent. Very comfortable. Blue tooth is crystal clear with great range. The base boost provides a subwoofer type experience for my ears. Crazy good battery life, can watch netflix all day and barely put a dent in it. Stylish. Love the red. I have not used the phone feature yet.

Good headphones for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These sony headphonea are really good. The battery life is way better than the ones I had previously used and the regular bass is good (although not amazing). It comes with an electronic bass boost option, which will ruin some of the music but playing games with the bass boost on is an awesome experience (at least for me). Al in all, a greatly built headphone for the price (i got it for sale at 129).

Good but not great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Okay, so I listen to a lot of different genres of music, watch a great deal of movies, and enjoy the quality of sound when using bluetooth/wireless audio for video chat/phone calls. Nothing adds quality like a nice crisp, clear and clean sound. I got this with these Sony headphones no doubt. However, they were a bit heavy in comparison of my Bose, Beats Studio, and Marley's (all bluetooth/wireless headphones). The battery life was okay, but seemingly a tad exaggerated of hours of use time. I would get to work about 6:30am and find myself slipping into my music zone (with my new Sony headphones) about 8:30/9am fully charged (the battery percentage shows on my iPhone under the "Today" tab next toNogifications); only to find about noon give or take 1:30pm that they were dying and in need of a charge for further use. Nevertheless, I would find myself in resulting back to my Bose or Marley's to finish out my day. Overall, the Sony headphones did not disappoint in quality and sound or comfort over-the-ears. And it would have been nice to have a carrying case or pouch to keep the headphones protected when not in use.

Great product!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good pair of headphones for the discounted price I bought it for $89. It fits well over the ears, is comfortable and sound quality with and without bass boost is certainly competitive. This does not have active noise cancellation but it provides a good 80% noise cancellation on flights. It's features outweigh the price so it is a worthy buy. Only reason for not giving a 5 star is this product does not come with a case which would be a real value addition.

Q: QuestionHow is the voice quality for phone calls? How is the voice quality for phone calls? Main reason for purchase would be to make/receive calls, secondary reason would be for movies/music on phone/laptop.
Asked by Adam.
- A:Answer The voice quality for phone calls is great. However, the Mic is so sensitive that it picks up everything around you and is quite irritating to the person you're talking to. My advice: use these headphones for phone calls in a quiet surrounding.

Q: QuestionAudiophiles seem to all agree that wired headphones sound better than blutooth. With that being said do these headphones sound better when plugged inAudiophiles seem to all agree that wired headphones sound better than blutooth. With that being said do these headphones sound better when plugged in or is there a noticable differance.
Asked by speedwagon.
- A:Answer These headphones sound good while Bluetoothed. I believe the range is from 5 HZ to 22KHZ. These also come with a wire and you will get more range 3HZ to 28KHZ when wired. So you get the best of both. I will tell you that I am listening to them wirelessly right now and they sound great.

Q: QuestionWould these headphones be good in a gym?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I have these headphones and I go to the gym 4-5 days a week. I never take these to the gym. 3 reasons they won't work well in a gym: 1. I think the big earpads would soak up a ton of sweat, and possibly get moldy. 2. if your exercise includes running like mine does, or even situps, the headphones are so big and bulky that they would most likely fall off. 3. they stick off of your head pretty far and I would feel awkward wearing these giant headphones as I worked out. I stick with earbuds. If this answer was helpful please give kudos, and if it answers your question please select it so that it can help others find the answer as well. Thank you!

Q: QuestionHow do you recharge the battery? One of the reviews stated that it did not come with a charger.

- A:Answer It comes with a USB to Micro USB charger cable. You have to hook the cable up to a USB port and the micro side to the headset for it to charge. Full charge from full depletion takes around 4 hours.
