First 4K TV
||Posted .I've always purchased Samsung TV's in the past. Mainly because they are reliable and if something goes out on them it is a fairly simple fix. I decided to try this Sony model for several reasons. It was cheaper than the other comparable models. It has a great picture quality and have been wanting to upgrade to 4K for some time. I was in the market to upgrade from my 65" plasma. It is pretty heavy, though which turns mounting on the wall into a two person job. It is also so thin that I was nervous about damaging it while putting it up. The instructions specifically address that you are not to put your hands on the screen. This is very difficult to not do as the edges don't give much room for a grip. I can't give an opinion on the sound as I am using the ARC to a Denon AVR-x4200w receiver. They have worked really well together, but the ARC HDMI plug-in is located directly behind the TV and is about impossible to reach if it is mounted directly to the wall as mine is. So, plug it in before you hang it. I also attached some LEDs behind it for some flare.

Great in almost all conditions
||Posted .I have been looking at 75' tv's for some time now and narrowed it down to Samsung 8500, Sony 850D and the Sony 940D. I chose not to go with Samsung because the colors were a bit too vivid for me and didn't seem natural. Once I decided on Sony it really came down to did I want to buy the Sony 930D, which was a 65', for a similar price or buy the Sony 850D but upgrade the size to a 75'. I decided to go with the 75' because I have a very large basement and I needed the extra screen to make it easy to view anywhere. The good: This TV is incredible and it looks amazing on most content. I have Directv and it does fairly good but it absolutely shines when I turn the channel to a 4k channel such as 104. YouTube, Amazon Prime, Netflix and basically any streaming content looks incredible!. Blu-Rays are phenomenal and the smart TV features are perfect for me. The Bad: I almost took back the TV for this single reason. The TV is a LED Edge lit TV so that means the light for the picture comes from the sides and not the back like a full array TV such as the 940D. At night with the lights off there is some light flashing and light bleed that is rather annoying on dark scenes but I just couldn't bring myself to spend an additional $2k for the upgrade 940D but a simple fix is to turn on some light, even a little works, and the issues is reduced immensely. Other than this the TV performs awesome! Yes, I would recommend buying this TV but I would also say that if you can afford spending an additional $2k it would be worth it to jump to the 940D. If not you'll still be very happy and impressed with this one.

Best TV Ever!
||Posted .I've owned this Sony Bravia 75" 4k TV for a couple of months now and I absolutely love this TV, and im reminded of that everytime i power it on to watch anything. This was my first smart android TV, and i really like having all the extra apps. The quality is absolutely amazing when watching content in 4k (netflix, etc). There's always something to watch in it thanks to the Android operating system. I like having Android over any of the other sandboxed TV OS's (samsung, etc). It's almost like having a 75" tablet in your living room, the content is endless. Picture Quality: The quality looks amazing provided you have the HD content. I can tell you that Netflix and Youtube have some 4k content and its short of astonishing. I was really blown away by the detail and resolution. Of course, the 1080p resolution also looks great as its upscaled by the TV. The High Dynamic Range makes it future proof as well and makes the colors and bright areas of the screen completely stunning! Physical Appearance: The TV is SO THIN! There's a small square area on the back that might be slightly thicker than the rest (about 1") but its no deal breaker. The stand is very sleek overall and i found the cable management built in really makes it look sleek. You stick the wires inside and put the cover and all that mess is hidden away. Android OS: As stated earlier, its like having a 75" tablet at your disposal. The possibilities for content are endless. I do find the OS does get a bit sluggy sometimes but it goes away after a reboot. Remote Control: This was my only complaint about the TV. The remote control just seems like an after thought. Its black and bulky, with no backlit buttons. The buttons dont provide enough physical feedback so sometimes you dont know if you pressed something. The infrared sensor is also WEAK. You literally have to point the thing directly at the TV. The buttons themselves are also VERY loud. In any case, I use a Harmony Remote which is the king of remotes and hardly ever use the one that came with the TV. One cool feature the original remote does have is that you can speak into it to search.

Great Value for a 4K
Posted .I have Sony's 2014 65" 4K in my living room and I was immediately hooked on 4K. So when purchasing my next TV I wanted to go larger and decided on a 75". I had read a lot about Sony's 2016 HDR and MotionFlow capabilities before purchasing and was excited for the new TV. Out of the box the TV was disappointing as the picture quality seemed to "stretch" on my DirecTV receiver. I plugged in a Blu-Ray 4K-upconverting player, however, and the picture was perfectly clear. I called DirecTV which had me do an equipment upgrade (they now offer 4K channels and are apparently expanding their line by the end of the year) which fixed the picture quality by a significant amount. However I do notice that when going from a 65" to a 75" the menu pixellates more as the picture seems to stretch to fit the larger screen--so unless you really want the extra 10" the 65" might be the better choice. Since the equipment upgrade from DirecTV, however, I have been watching almost exclusively on this TV as the motion particularly on sports and action movies has phenomenal detail and smooth motion. That and a good Bond movie...great TV and very happy with my purchase.

FANTASTIC TV FOR HI-DEF GAMING, YOU WILL LOVE IT.
||Posted .Replaced a 2004 40 inch LCD TV with this 75 inch Sony 4K HDR TV. You can imagine the difference...amazing picture and sound in comparison. This model is from 2016, just hit the floors after debuting at CES and I could not be happier. Movies look great and automatically get upgraded visually. I've heard it's hard for a TV to look great showing live sports AND movies. I don't know about that, I just know I made a good choice for the next several years. Voice control on some of the apps via Android TV is fun. 4k stuff is expanding and the few things we have watched are spectacular. This TV is also capable of updating itself and is HDR ready for whatever comes down the road the next few years. Bought this TV also to use with my new PS 4 Pro, together they are awesome. I have had so many compliments on this TV and the quality that Sony has. Netflix and Hulu streaming services look FANTASTIC. I hooked it up to my Harman/Kardon surround sound speaker system and it's just a like a movie theater but at my house. LOVE playing all my various games systems on this television. The picture is "AMAZING". There's 4K, and there's Sony 4K HDR.I also looked at a Samsung equivalent, but all in all Sony's TV's are much better in picture quality. Still exploring the options, but my first month report card for this TV is a solid "A+"

Awesome TV.
||Posted .We walked into Best Buy, knowing we wanted a 65"+ TV, and wanted to be int he $1000 to $1500 range. However once we started comparing and looking at different TVs, we ended up splurging on a 75" and about $1000 more than we wanted. We LOVE this TV and new setup. We sit around 20' away from our TV so bigger the better. Picture quality is amazing, dark darks and bright brights. I had a concern as our ATT&T does not broadcast anything in 4K, but the TV still does an amazing job at upscaling lesser resolutions (i.e. no distortion). Highly recommended. The picture included of our setup does not do the size of the TV justice. We have tower Klipsch Legend Series speakers that are monsters and make the TV look small in relation.

Amazing Picture Great for Gaming
||Posted .Geek Squad did an amazing job installing and was very professional and neat. The TV is amazing with great picture and blows playing my PS4 out of the water with amazing resolution. One thing I did notice and will be calling the geek squad about is when there is a darker scene or not enough light in the room the corners have like a grey bleeding to it. Other than that the TV is phenomenal

Q: QuestionWhat is the difference between 4k HDR TVs that have LED noted in the description vs. those that do not have LED noted but are still 4k HDR?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The answer is nothing. Almost all tv's are LED lit LCD panels. The exception being OLED from LG in which each pixel is essentially it's own LED. The main components to worry about when 4k shopping is the panel. Most 4k HDR tv's are still using an 8 bit panel versus the 10 bit panel which is used for flagship tv's exclusively at this point. You may be asking what the difference is. 10 bit panel offers a 120+ color gamut versus 32 of 8 bit, also, 10 bit panels have around 64 active zones for picture quality versus the 12 zones offered via 8 bit. What is sad, is that Sony and Samsung have exclused Dolby Vision, DV is the best way to utilize 4k hdr content and is compatible with HDR10 (these are how the tv processor gets the information to make a 4k picture). HDR 10 is not compatible with DV and can not be added via an update (hardware issue). Now here is where it gets dirty. Many TV's (like this one) is offering 'hdr', or in Sony's case HDR1000, which common shoppers will confuse for being an upgrade (makes little difference if the 8 bit panel can't push the info giving, this takes the resolution from 4k to 1440p). The big companies instead are using "DITHERING" techniques to advertise hdr on 8 bit panels. Dithering is a form of upscaling by telling the pixel to switch from one color to another at a speed the eye can barely notice to give the impression of being different colors altogether. This will show through in the high contrast shots. Dolby vision is currently being carried by Vizio and LG. In addition, if the tv does not label 10 bit panel, then it does not have one. As of today Vizio is the only company selling a 65' under $2500 (P series starts around $2k) with a 10 bit panel. I know it is a lot to read and understand, but if you buy an expensive 8 bit panel 4k tv it will be noticably inferior in a short amount of time. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionDoes the 75" 850D support 3D?
Asked by Jim.
- A:Answer I am buying this TV today after speaking with the Best Buy rep in my local store at length on Sat. I asked about 3D and he explained that this TV does not support 3D. He said that based on the overall lack of utilization of 3D, the 2016 models from the manufacturers would rarely (if at all) offer this feature.
