Let me tell you this, the only thing little on this Bluetooth speaker is the size and even that is a good thing. Soundcore by Anker- Rave Neo Bluetooth Speaker is an amazingly loud, fun, portable and a waterproof (IPX7) Bluetooth speaker and a convenient phone charging port all in one, and let me tell you for the price this thing packs a punch. So, lets go over some of the features and pros and cons of the soundcore Rave Neo. Unboxing and Setup- The Soundcore comes nicely packaged and included in the box is the manual and a charging cable. My speaker was delivered with 75% charge and was ready to go right out of the box. The speaker is solid, and has some heft to it. It measures about 11in tall and 5.5in wide at the widest point and roughly weighs about 8lbs. The speaker can be charged with the USB-C charger. Features- 50W Sound- This speaker is packed with tons of neat features like 50W sound, it gets pretty loud with beat driven lights. Bass Up Technology- The Bassup technology adds some extra bass to your music, but not to much, just the right amount. I recommend keeping the Bassup option on because the music sounds kind of flat without it. Playtime- For a speaker and a portable power station you are looking at a whopping 18hrs of playtime on a full charge, but I suppose that time would decrease if you are also charging your phone at the same time. I did not get to fully test out this feature but I was able to play music and charge my phone for a good four hours with no issues at all. Soundcore App- Even though you can use the speaker without the app, I would highly recommend using the Soundcore App to unlock the full potential of this speaker. The app allows you to control the lights, the pattern of the lights, the colors, the equalizer, the bass, games, and even become your little light party DJ. Power IQ Charge out- The speaker has a usb port in the back that allows you charge your phone while pumping your music. Built-in Microphone- So this speaker also has a built in microphone which worked just fine, just in case you need to take a phone call while playing some beats. Fully Waterproof (IPX7)- Now testing out this feature was the best part. I really wanted to see if this speaker was waterproof, so I fully submerged the speaker in about a foot of water (so you don’t have to), and kept the speaker there for about 10 minutes and this thing kept kicking. So, if you take this speaker with you to a pool party and accidently drop it in the pool, or if it starts raining out and you leave the speaker out in the rain, you can rest assured that it will still work and keep putting on a light show and dropping some beats for you. PartyCast- So, this feature I was not able to test, but theoretically you can linkup to 100+ devices together and create a massive surround sound system. Unfortunately, I did not have another speaker to link together to test out this feature, but judging by how everything else played out for me, I am sure this feature would also work just fine. (kind of bummed that I could not try out this feature) All in all, this is probably the best party speaker you can buy for a reasonable price, that will give you an amazing sound quality, that’s waterproof and full of fun features. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking.

--- SETUP --- The setup for the Soundcore speaker is fast. Out of the box, it is charged enough to last you a party. It can be charged with a USB-C cable, which is included. Pairing is quick and simple, like pairing other bluetooth devices. You can also use an auxiliary device or a USB with songs in it. --- FEATURES --- The key features of this speakers includeL IPX7 rating (fully waterproof for 30 minutes), a handle for portability, an IQ USB port (for charging other devices like iPhones at their fastest speeds), and an auxiliary port when wireless isn’t an option. There is an option called PartyCast which allows you to connect up to 100 speakers wirelessly (though I couldn’t test it for lack of a second speaker). It also has a companion app with nifty features that enhance the speaker’s user experience. --- PERFORMANCE --- The performance of the speaker itself is phenomenal. I planned on listening to a couple of songs the first night I received it and I ended up spending about 2 hours just running through different songs such as English Rock, Spanish Rock, Salsas, Bachatas, Pop, and even some acoustic music. They all sounded great, regardless of genre, with no loss of fidelity in speaker vs. lows and highs each variety of music offered. I also enjoyed it later while listening to some podcasts and cooking. I can see this bringing life to an otherwise dull barbecue party. --- EXPECTATIONS --- The product exceeded my expectations. I downloaded the companion app called Soundcore. It is not needed to use your speaker with bluetooth and even though I fully expected to dismiss it, I found some reasons to keep using the app. For instance, my friends and I love playing board games from time to time. Within the app, you can play games that are associated with colors and the colors are represented visually in the speaker. The included games are truth or dare, spin the bottle, and a trivia game. The trivia game does provide you with a question that the selected player has to answer and gives you 5 seconds. The spin the bottle and the truth or dare game don’t include any options, so the game master has to come up with questions for the group. However, I can see myself using this as a random selector feature for other board games or games that my group comes up with on the fly. It is only accessible while connected to the speaker, so it is a nice addition that I think few speaker companies would come up with. Other features of the app include DJ Lights, which allow you to control the lights of the speaker by tapping your fingers on the app. It is a nice novelty, but it quickly overstays its welcome and you probably won’t be using it much. A big reason why is that there is a clear delay from when you press the button on the app to when it registers on the speaker. A function of the DJ app is to add beats to existing music, but it was hard to time it and just wasn’t fun. However, the speaker itself is worth it and the app is worth the download too for the included games. I do hope they support it with more games in the future. One feature I wasn’t able to test is the party cast, which allows you to connect up to 100 speakers wirelessly, allowing for a more full sound experience. --- VALUE --- The price for the Soundcore Speaker in terms of value is worth it, considering other speakers go for twice the price and sound just a loud. --- APPROVAL --- I highly recommend this product for people who like enjoying music outdoors. This will make a greatly appreciated gift for college students and a nice addition to people who barbeque or own pools.

This portable speaker has strong audio performance with vibrant bass depth and crisp high sound. The unit's size is just right for easy carrying, comfortable padded handle straps made of polyester webbing (dries fast), and lightweight (6.4 lbs). The bottom base is wide enough, and with most of the weight on the bottom, this speaker is stable enough and will not get knocked down easily. An IPX7 rating means that the unit is fully waterproof up to 3 feet submersible and up to 30 minutes. One should avoid getting the speaker wet when possible to prolong the unit's life, but it is excellent to know that it won't be damaged if an accident happened. The connection ports are on the rear bottom and have a waterproof tight lid that must be close, making the unit fully waterproof secured. The charging port is a USB Type-C, there is a USB Type-A port for charging other mobile devices, and a standard Aux connection. What is only included, besides the manual book, is a USB Type-A to USB Type-C charging cable. Note that it does not include a wall power adapter. But this might not be an issue with most users since most homes already have some power charging adapters from other devices and some outlets already have USB Type-A ports to charge devices. A device connects to the speaker either via Aux (cable not included) or Bluetooth. With a Bluetooth connection, I recommend using the app to avoid connection issues every time the speaker is powered. A few times, I had to turn on, off, and then on the speaker to get a successful connection. You will have no connection issue if you install the Soundcore app on your device. The Soundcore app is straightforward to use and loaded with excellent features/settings. The app's basic controls are play, pause, volume control, BassUP on/off, LED lights effects, preset equalizer(EQ), and customizable EQ. Two additional features with the app are (1) control the lights with sound effects and (2) Party games. The led light settings are for changing the color and effects. These are the included sound effects: alien, alarm, hit, kick, radio, rewind, space, DJ, scream 1&2, yeah, drum 1,2,&3, piano, maraca, and saxophone. What I like the best of the bonus features are the party games. There are three types of games: (a) Truth or Dare, (b) Spin the Bottle, and (b) Spin the Wheel categories. In the spin-the-wheel game, a selected player will have 5 seconds to answer a random question, such as name x numbers of animals, parks, holidays, companies, etc. All games can have up to 10 players. On top of the speaker is the panel with the basic control buttons: (1) power on/off, (2) Bluetooth, (3) PartyCast, (4) Volume up, (5) Volume down, and (6) a single button for song play /pause /skip / & skip previously. The Soundcore is now my favorite go-to speaker since it produces a great bass that drops lovely. The overall sound that comes out is nice and round in all directions. To conclude, this speaker is a great portable speaker, produces excellent sound, and works great with its app.
