Pretty good protection, minus the bulk of your regular phone case. The back has a pattern that provides some grip; I personally think there should be a little more. I've used this case for about 4 months now, and have dropped my phone on hard surfaces quite a few times. So far it has protected my phone from shattering and cracking!
