First off, I love the stylish look and the beautiful onyx black color. The SmartShell cover is truly the perfect way to protect your MacBook from unwanted scratches and dents. However, I don't quite agree with the full description given by Speck. The description reads: "made of a scratch-resistant material". I don't know about you but when I read scratch-resistant I imagine a material that does not show any type of scratches at all. The day I got this SmartShell I bragged to my wife about how it was scratch-resistant, however when I used my fingernail to prove this “fact” to her, the SmartShell made me look like a liar :o) Take a look at the pictures and you will see a squiggly line to the left of the Apple logo, yes that is in fact a scratch done with my fingernail. I don’t know what caused the other scratch on it. Nevertheless, I’m satisfied with this product however I wanted to give an honest review. I think this item’s description needs to be reworded a little better and not give the impression that the SmartShell will never scratch.

I purchased my laptop before the case was available, I was so happy when they finally came out! It keeps my laptop print free and scratch free, snaps on super easy too! If you were looking for a case to protect your laptop if it is dropped, this one is not you!

This case is great and durable! Love the glittery details! One downside to this case is if you purchase a C-Hub for this particular laptop, the case gets in the way of the C-Hub and you need to remove the bottom part of the hard shell in order to have a proper fit. This is not always convenient especially when you’re trying to protect the laptop or if you’re in a public place and want to do some work that requires a flash drive. Easy fix, just wondering if with the constant removal of the bottom piece, will this then cause it to become loose and will not have a snug fit to keep the laptop protected. Time will tell!
