I purchased this on sale at Best Buy for forty dollars. I traded up from a Samsung Galaxy S2 which I paid over two hundred dollars for. This phone is faster and works better with my apps. The battery life is much longer and the LTE much faster. The only drawbacks are the screen is a bit smaller, and the camera is not as good and does not have a flash. If you need a great camera on your phone then this may not be the phone for you but if you want a phone that works fast with great battery life that won't break the bank then this is it. I own one for myself and bought two more for my parents.

I bought this phone to use on the RingPlus service (note, if you do this, make sure to associate the imei before you turn the phone on!). This gives me a $40 phone with no monthly fee (although I live under the threat of R+ cancelling their free service again).
While reading reviews on several sites, some people have complained about the phone's shortcomings. However, I think they must be coming in with unrealistic expectations. For the price (and even a bit more), I think the phone is great.
Some of the complaints include the weight, the non-removable battery, the lack of a flash and the mediocre camera. Frankly, especially as an extra phone, none of those things bother me. The weight actually makes the phone feel more solid. Several (even higher end) phones have dropped the replaceable battery. The camera is a standard phone camera. In good light it works fine, in bad light, not so much.
My experience with the phone is that it has a great processor, a fair amount of storage for a starter/extra phone (though you'll definitely want to keep media and photos on the microsd card), and an acceptable amount of RAM.
Overall, I would say this phone is excellent as a starter (especially for kids) or extra phone, and would do well in a pinch as a temporary replacement, or perform excellently as a cheap media player device. When paired with a lower price phone service, it's almost perfect as a kids' phone.

I bought this phone for ring plus. Having been using moto g 2013 for the past 2 years. This phone is faster than my moto g and also has LTE.
Drawbacks are no flash light, but I am not concerned with flash light, average quality camera and low res screen. It has excellent battery life though, and serves my basic needs for a phone.
Also it works excellent with ringplus.

Great Budget Phone, But with Network Issues

I bought the MOTO E previously, to test it on the Boost Mobile Network. After some playing with it I returned it, due to network issues. Still, after a month, I bought it back, because of the speed and the versatility that the phone offers. Compared to the MOTO G, it has great speed and performance, not to mention that it has better memory (8 GB internal extended to 32 GB right now with SD CARD).
The only problem I encountered with this phone is the issue with "drop"/not registered/not received phone calls. Out of 10 phone calls made to my phone (I know because I counted them on purpose) I received (phone rang) about 6 calls. That is 60% functionality on receiving calls. Making phone calls from the phone I was batting for 100% with no problems. This seems to be a problem with the network and not with the phone. So, bear that in mind. Text messages also got delayed in the air, arriving hours after being sent. However, sending text/SMS I have no issues...
Battery life is normal. In Standby it last a long time, I was able to have the phone for about 8 hours without using it (not connected to charger) and it retained about 96% of the charge. The battery is an internal, not removable one. So, not having spare batteries is a little uncomfortable for me. I like to have extra batteries for emergencies.
Bottom line, is a great phone for the price...
PROS:
1. Good Speed
2. Good Memory (32 GB w/ SDCARD)
3. New Android software
4. Decent battery life (on Standby)
CONS:
1. Problems with network receiving calls/SMS
2. Needs a cover to have a better grip of the phone.
3. Internal Battery (not removable for extra batteries)

i purchased this on sale and it is working well. i activated it on ringplus before even opening the box and it is working flawlessly. there is no problem with voice, text, or data speeds. coverage is great where i am located in NC. it is a low price smartphone without extensive features, but works great for me. it is not fast but it is responsive. no nfc, camera flash, or even android 6. the battery life has been suitable. i got over 2 days using as phone only. if videos are streaming or music is downloading, then it only lasts a couple hours. this is all i want out of a smartphone.

I am satisfied with this mobile phone.
I was looking for a not-so-expensive non-contract mobile phone (that takes Apple out of the equation), from a renowned brand, with decent processor speed, screen, size, weight and looks. I use plenty of Google apps, so an Android phone made perfect sense.
The Motorola Moto G fulfills my needs and I definitely recommend it.
I just wish that the Best Buy store would carry accessories for it, namely a protective case.

I'd seen mixed reviews and wasn't sure about this phone. Then my old Moto G died. This Moto E was on sale and I got it for a great price. Now that I have it, I think it's great. It's fast, its memory is expandable with the micro sd card, and the battery live is very good. The camera, even though it doesn't have a flash, works fine. I don't think it's worth it to spend a lot on a phone, because it's easy for them to break or be lost. And this phone performs great -- I recommend it.

A:I bought my phone in July and it was the second generation Moto E.
You can start using the phone before activating it for apps. Of course to get calls and text messages you need to activate the phone.
A:I don't think so. Freedom Pop does not use Sprints' cell network but their data network. I have 2 Freedom Pop phones and they have special software because all the calls are VOIP. The call quality of Freedom Pop is bad. You can use this phone for Ring Plus, I have three on the network now.
