If it's cold outside and you don't want to run in leggings so you won't get chaffed, this is actually a very handy alternative with hand based cardio. You can get your heart beating on a good pace depending on how strong your hands can swing the pedals so it actually can get that heart pumping. It is definitely a cheap alternative and much more effective than the free cycling your arms motion because just free cycling your arms is poor form. However, it won't strengthen your foot/leg muscles even though the product description makes it seems like an alternative to bike pedaling. It doesn't do that job well for me. Perhaps my foot is too big (size 14) or my legs are too powerful because it doesn't keep in place. If you are in bro shape for your lower half of the body, skip this. A good potential use for this device is if you have leg injuries and you still want your heart pumping for circulation. Then you can perform the aforementioned hand pedaling which it does beautifully and at a good value. As with all cheap products, you have to qualify the benefits with drawbacks and see if the drawbacks and negatives would impact your intended usage.
