A Different Take On The Best Star Trek Movie Ever!
|Posted .Finally, Paramount had released a Blu-Ray set of the Director's Cut of the best entry in the "Star Trek" feature film series. As a life-long "Trekkie," I have over the years collected all of the Trek movies, way back when Betamax ruled the home video universe. I now have them all on either DVD or Blu-Ray. Of all the 13 movies made in the franchise (including the latest three in the "Re-Boot Series"), "Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan" (ST:TWOK) continues to be, for me, the best of them all (even after its original theatrical release over 30 years ago!) -- a sentiment shared by many fans. Over the years, I learned that the theatrical version was not the version that film director Nicholas Meyer ideally wanted as it omitted or reworked a number of key plot scenes, elements and dialogue. Some of those scenes I have eventually seen via various YouTube posts, usually at a poor quality or resolution. So, I'm happy to have this re-mastered version on Blu-Ray, purchased at Best Buy, which sold it a better price than most other retailers.

Best Presentation of the Best 'Trek'
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed. The best 'Star Trek' film from the original crew gets the best presentation it has ever had. A pristine 1080p transfer with a scratches removed but still with a healthy dose of film grain. The space battles are magnificent with detail on each spaceship extremely clear. The picture is so sharp you'll think smoke from the damaged bridge of the Enterprise is filling your living room. This bluray is a highly recommended purchase if your a fan of the film and still own the previous DVD release.

KHAAAAAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|Posted .Ok, so as a sci-fi fan I lean towards the star wars camp as opposed to star trek. However that isn't to say I don't enjoy watching star trek. As the movies are concerned this has to be the absolute best of the series and I think it's because of two reasons. First it has a connection to the television series because of the character portrayed by Ricardo M. Secondly it was so much more action packed that anything seen of star trek at that time. If you don't currently own a copy of this disc in bluray format then it's a great investment for the price. If you do then you may want to pass as there really isn't much else new here to see even the directors cut doesn't really change much of what's already been viewed.
