A Barry Goldberg Eclectic Collection
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although I have been a fan and collector of music and bands in which Barry Goldberg and peers have been involved since the 60's, I really did not know what to anticipate from this disc, which is a compilation of 2 separate releases. I hadn't heard any of these tracks (in form represented here). Barry Goldberg, himself, has been highly influential and creative as a writer, collaborator, and keyboardist, notably intertwined with Mike Bloomfield, having backed Bob Dylan at his meteoric 1965 Newport performance, and was a member of the ground-breaking Electric Flag. With that background, I expected more, consistently, from this present Release. The first 10 tracks, from "Street Man" feature mostly instrumental R&B covers , with Goldberg playing organ. However, the final 11 tracks ("Blast From My Past"), which feature artists including Bloomfield, Duane Allman, etc., on various tracks, is, to me, much more appealing and in more of a Blues Genre. I recommend this as much for its historical nature as music quality; if I could give 3 1/2 Stars, I would.
