Super Collision of Hard Rock and Metal
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWhen I first heard the title track I thought it was good, but was not really impressed. After giving this a good listen on a decent sound system my initial impression was wrong. The title track has more musical depth and layers to it than any other Megadeth track that I can think of. The core guitar riff is simple and doesn’t smother the song. The base line that David Ellefson lays down is complex and has room to breathe behind the rhythm guitar and small lead fills are thrown in here and there with some really solid drumming. This is a guitar driven hard rock album. I’ve heard some comparisons to Risk and I just don’t hear it. I would say this album a good cross between Countdown to Extinction and The World Needs a Hero. Chris Broderick lays down some very memorable lead work on this one; very melodic with a touch of blues. There’s still the typical shredding but it is much more restrained making the lead work much more catchy. Dave’s vocal range isn’t what it used to be but his vocals fit the material perfectly. When I saw the song title, “Dance in the Rain”, my first thought was, “this is gonna be lame!”. Well, turns out this is now one of my favorite songs that the band has released. Other standout tracks are Kingmaker, Beginning of Sorrow, Don’t Turn Your Back…, and The Blackest Crow. The Thin Lizzy cover of Cold Sweat is also fantastic. I’m not sure it’s worth the extra cash to get the bonus songs; they are the weakest on the album, but still good. The 3D cover is actually really cool though. I’d give this 4 and a half stars; highly recommended.

Megadeth still kicks butt!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendLike others, when I first heard the title track, I thought it wasn't that great. But when I listened to the other tracks, I was really impressed. The album is a bit softer than usual, but it's not a bad thing. I highly recommend people to listen to all of the tracks, and not judge it because of the title track, Super Collider. I’ve been listening to Megadeth since the early 90’s, and I still see no sign of Megadeth getting weak. In fact, a few tracks remind me of songs from earlier years, such as the Youthanasia and World Needs a Hero. I personally liked Kingmaker, Off the Edge, Dance in the Rain, and Forget to Remember, and Don't Turn Your Back.

a mix of 80s, 90s and modern Megadeth styles
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis isn't Megadeths best CD but overall a decent effort. There are glimpses of returns to their original thrashing speed metal style combined with some hooks that broke them into the mainstream audience. As a Megadeth fan, I found some gems on it. I also found some tired ground that has been done before. I found about 4 songs on here that I found uninteresting and easy to skip over. You can tell which songs are intended to be played "live" and which "filler" songs are never intended to ever be played again by the band. Which begs the question that if the band doesn't fall in love with each and every song, how is the listener expected to do so? I personally thought "TH1RT3EN" was a much better album. The good points far outweigh the negative points and this CD is still worth picking up for the longtime Megadeth fan.

Great record
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendNot one of their records are similar. They always innovate, make the unexpected, and do it with such finesse. I am proud to have grown up with Megadeth and be their fan throughout their career. We fans are so fortunate to be able to have yet another masterpiece from Megadeth. It is a great pleasure to listen to this album from beginning to end. I believe old and new fans will all find something that speaks to them and becomes a certain irresistible piece among their personal favorites. Thank you Best Buy for offering this special edition with extra tracks and beautiful 3D cover.

Megadeth
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendNot the best Megadeth album, in fact a lot of fans and critics say it is the worst, but if you are a completist like me, gotta have it

If you like 90s era Megadeth, you'll like this...
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI absolutely LOVE this album. No. It's definitely not thrash... but it's still fantastic. I can hear bits and pieces of CTE, Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings, and Risk throughout this album... along with new sounds! This is one album that I am extremely happy with buying. Looking forward to their next release.

Good Megadeth album
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendMegadeth's latest entry is enjoyable. Personally I like Thirteen and Endgame better (With this lineup of band members), but they tried a few new things on this album and overall I think they did a good job.
