A monster Nineties masterpiece
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendSoundgarden's "Superunknown" stands as one of the greatest albums of the Nineties and for good reason: it absolutely rocks like crazy, relentless in its drive, ambition and focus without losing any of the danger and edge the band was known for in its early years. This 2-CD Deluxe Edition, shockingly, was better than I even expected. It includes the original vinyl bonus track "She Likes Surprises" and liberally different takes on much of the original album's songs. Of all the format variations of this reissue, this Deluxe Edition is really the way to go: 5 CDs with the Super Deluxe Edition is costly overkill and surely for hardcore fans only, while the single CD version will certainly have you wanting more.

A seminal nineties album
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWhile never as big as Nirvana or Pearl Jam, Soundgarden pre-dated each of those bands and influenced both of them heavily. You can see in this gorgeous remaster of their biggest album why they encompassed everything that was so great about the grunge movement: the sludgy guitars, mournful wailing, bombastic drumming, and stunning soundscapes with experimental sounds from all cultures. Chris Cornell's voice sounds even more powerful in this remaster than on any other album he's done, and it comes close to capturing the majesty of his live performances. For someone looking to get into Soundgarden, there is no better place to start. For long-time fans, this remaster will be like hearing Superunknown for the first time all over again.

Excellent sound and interesting demos
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe advert included for the 11.1 DTS surround sound in unreal. I never knew music could sound that clear; even the distorted, metal buzzing guitar and vocals were raw, yet clear. Like half of America in the mid to late '90's I banged my head to this cd. Hearing the demos is a unique way to hear the history of this album...I mean cd. It sounds great, easy to sing along and tap your foot to. If you once were or are currently a Soundgarden fan, do yourself a favor and buy this cd!

Great music
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendLove the CD. Lots of unreleased music and alternative lyrics. Get to listen to the band work out the songs and decide what to add / delete. Lots of familiar favorites and plenty of new / unreleased stuff. The second disc is amazing. The interaction between the band members and alternate songs and lyrics makes the album really different. Gives a lot of insight into what their process was while they worked on the original album.

Pretty Good Remaster
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis album is a remaster of the great Superunknown, it lacks some soul that the original version had with the remaster being a little flat sounding with compression. The bonus songs that are demos or b-sides are heavily compressed but interesting to hear the progression through songs like Black Hole Sun and Fell on Black Days. The great thing is download code for 11.1 surround sound on your phone which is entirely new way to listen that warrants the purchase alone except this is one time download so if you get a new phone it does NOT transfer sadly making it feel like a loaned album which I hope they fix in the future. Still the great album that I loved in the first place, the compression is bad but not to the level other albums have received in recent times.

Classic Seattle GRUNGE album gets deluxe treatment
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendIn the early oughts, the various members of Soundgarden opted to join up with Pearl Jam, wrangle 3/4 of Rage Against The Machine to form Audioslave, and make their respective solo records. As such, most fans forgot about Soundgarden until recently. Now the band is recording new music and re-releasing their back catalog, in this case adding demo versions and odds and sods to a deluxe re-package of their seminal album SUPERUNKNOWN. If you liked SUPERUNKNOWN the first time around, you'll dig this expanded package. Nothing essential here, but a good score for die hard fans and a reminder of how great they were in the late 90's. I'd like to see an expanded offering of BADMOTORFINGER.

Awesome album
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendA now classic album from the 90's, debatably SG's finest work. Disc 2 is cool to listen to the demos and alternate versions of songs that we know so well. The bonus feature of the free app download gives yet another slightly different and interesting listening experience to this classic album. The remaster itself is pretty good. Worth the money.
