Boasts about do it yourself, you would think its a simple procedure of running cables through your attic and plugging it in right? Wrong. Spent an entire weekend running lines and mounting cameras to only hook it all up to find the four 720 cameras with images of the other cameras scrolling across the images, one of the 1080 cameras has a blurred image, called the help line, (barely spoke english, shocker) they said to switch the cameras around to see if its a camera issue or a cable issue, same problem, sent email this time, they recommended changing some settings, same thing. The email set up is a nightmare to figure out and doesnt work either. I would rather just tear the whole thing out and return it but im sure I will get screwed with that too. Spent almost $500 for 3 cameras to work and 5 not. Wasted my time and money. Very disappointed with this DIY so called system.

We were looking for a new camera system to replace the one that I "self build" (two 700 TVL cameras and a DVR we bought off the shelf at Frys) and came across this gem. 8 Cameras, 4 1080P and 4 720P and a 1TB DVR is an amazing price. Most systems like this will run well over $1k. Easy installation, just plug and play. I saw a couple reviews where people said that they couldn't get it installed... I don't know what they were talking about, it's two cables per camera (Video / Power). Camera quality is amazing. I can read license plates of people using my driveway as a trashcan. And the night vision is very clear and lives up to the 100' of advertised vision (with the help of an outside light). Posted screenshots are from the SwannView Pro on Windows. Both are from the 1080P cameras. The quality of the capture is alittle degraded due to the way the application pulls the stream over the network. The PC / Mobile App leaves something to be desired. BUT, that is the same across the board with all these DVR manufactures. We had a Q-See DVR last time, and that software was just as bad. If hook a monitor up to the DVR, it's amazing. The web interface is good, only works on Windows though. The SwannView DVR software will work on Windows / Mac. We went ahead and bought a 3TB WD Purple drive to upgrade the capacity. Was an easy install and the system prompted on start-up to initialize the drive. The HHD that was in the system (which I was quite surprised) was a 1TB WD Purple drive as well. With them putting such a good quality drive in the unit, tells me that they care about the quality. Even though the Windows App / Mobile App is a little buggy, I am still giving 5 stars. It was going to be 4 until I upgraded the HHD and saw they put in a good HHD. Highly Recommended!

The system was easy to install. The 4 hi def cameras are great as the lower defs quit we will be replacing those with the higher def cameras as there is a big difference if you are wanting to zoom in for clarity on a persons face. We are having to go in to Best Buy because the system is not as easy as it says as far as linking it to our smart phones. So we are taking in our router and the dvr to see if the geeks can get them communicating. HDM cord is very short. I like being able to switch it on when I want to see my front door, I like the since of security it gives us as we were burglarized.
