Sweetback is Stuart Matthewman (guitar, saxophone), Andrew Hale (piano, keyboards), and Paul Spencer Denman (bass), musicians primarily known for their work in their band Sade, which formed in London in 1983. Following the conclusion of Sade's Love Deluxe World Tour in 1994, Matthewman, Hale, and Denman set up their own jazz/funk/R&B ensemble project in New York, and the group's eponymous debut album was released on Epic Records in October 1996. The collection features a sonically diverse reworking of the tracks from Rüfüs Du Sol's third studio album, Solace. When asked what inspired the album, the band said InchWe've always loved people being able to put their own spin on our music in a new context. It felt like at this point we were able to get in touch with some of the artists we admire and it seemed like an opportunity not to be missed. It allowed some more dance-orientated artists to create special moments for dance floors around the world.Inch
Limited vinyl LP repressing in gatefold jacket. Off the Wall is the fifth solo studio album by Michael Jackson. It was released on August 10, 1979, following Jackson's critically well-received film performance in The Wiz. While working on that project, Jackson and Quincy Jones had become friends, and Jones agreed to work with Jackson on his next studio album. Recording sessions took place between December 1978 and June 1979 at Allen Zentz Recording, Westlake Recording Studios, and Cherokee Studios in Los Angeles, California. Jackson collaborated with a number of other writers and performers such as Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Rod Temperton. Five singles were released from the album.
