Amazing quality for a budget TV. Good luck.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, I pulled the trigger on a TCL 65R615. First of all, it was on sale for 799 at Best Buy. Second, it was my alternative choice to an OLED. Not wanting to deal with burn in issues and the hefty price tag. Also, since I saw less complaints than the Vizio P series and I know that the Sony X900F has input lag issues with games, I decided to go ahead with this model. Had it delivered on a Friday. Recieved a courtesy call, on time delivery, hassle free from Best Buy. I come home from work to setup the television. The picture is so amazing, the local dimming works really well and Dolby Vision is incredible. But... the gray uniformity was absolutely horrendous, which was another issue I've been hearing about with these TV's. So I dealt with it for a few days. After some consideration, painful gaming experiences, and straight-up, just not being pleased with this panel, I decided to enter into the "panel lottery". So I exchange it at Best Buy for the same model television, and bring the replacement home. Alas, after hooking it up and testing out gray uniformity, I ended up with a near perfect panel. For 800 dollars, I finally have the television I've wanted for awhile and since I saved a bunch of money buying TCL, I went ahead and bought some rear speakers for a 4.0 Surround Sound setup(apartment living, so no sub for me). I couldn't be happier and now have the home theatre setup I've always wanted. I am giving this TV a 3 out of 5 Star review because the quality control seems to be out getting out of hand with these panels. I am praying that in the future, the odds of recieving a a great panel right off the bat, will be a lot higher than the chances are now of recieving bad ones. Other than that though, I am absolutely in love with my replacement panel and am crossing my fingers that no other problems will arise. I am putting my faith in you, TCL!

Amazing TV at the price point
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A 65" 4k, Dolby Vision/HDR, Roku, and local dimming for under $1000? Yes, please. This is a seriously good set for the price. The only TV with a better picture is an OLED TV and not by much. My neighbor has one and we've viewed them both extensively. He even agrees that he's not sure it's worth the mark up. The local dimming does a great job. You may see a little "bloom" effect that you don't get with OLED, but it's not an issue for me. Bonus - gaming on this thing is great. input lag is just 19ms. The only real negative is a ridge on the back of the TV that will interfere with a good many TV mounts. I had to buy a new one. I'd imagine a good many will have issue. Image attached

Good picture...questionable quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old Hitachi Plasma was beginning to act up. I still prefer the plasma image but they seem to have been phased out. This 65 inch TCL intially worked great but began giving me a rainbow effect on a few random occasions when powering on. Turning power on and off seemed to correct the problem. I did notify TCL service through their web site but never had a reply. I was, still within Bestbuy 14 day return policy and replaced it with the same model. This one has been working ok but once turned off by itself while my wife and I were in an adjacent room and once lost both sound and picture. I presumed it had shut off by itself but when I went to turn it back on the "power down" icon in the upper right came on indicating I was turning it off. I then powered it back on and it has been okay since. Only one week with it so far so I am still a bit concerned about the overall quality. It will be a good purchase if it last half as long as my Hitachi Plasma that I later got working and am using in another room. Still Tv's failure to reply to my initial complaint also raises questionscaboit their commitment to customer service. I may get decide to go with another rand that has a known history. Right now I can recommend it but with reservations. I will upload image of the rainbow effect noticed on my first one. Love Roku TVs and have two Sharps bought at Bestbuy. Hooked my existing sound system up using the included connectors plugged into the headphone jack. This TCL is currently offered on Amazon at a higher price but with Roku voice commands. I am used to the Roku so set up and adjustment were easy. Picture is great but audio not near as good as previous Hitachi that we seldom used our external Sony system. This TCL needed the system to have what we felt was adequate sound.

LOVE this smart TV
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is fantastic. Exactly what I wanted. Easy to set-up, easy to program. Very happy with the features and functionality. The picture definition is great! Sound is just okay, so I added a simple soundbar to bring the audio up to snuff (mute the TV, play audio through the soundbar). Unfortunately, the big limitation is that any wireless speakers require the ROKU speakers first. And the drawback of the wireless ROKU speakers, is that you still need to plug in for power. So my attempt at having a 'wall-painting/no-wires' look for the TV is limited by the thin optical cable connecting my optical output to the soundbar (unless I wanted to mount the soundbar right up next to the TV, which I think would distract from the clean look of the TV itself. I guess I could have paid for a higher-end sleeker soundbar... Alternatively, I would have to punch holes in the walls to hard-wire the speakers, or else put the speakers in various locations in the room which isn't optimal for my setup). There are multiple HDMI ports, which allowed me to set up a wireless HDMI, as well as additional cables for gaming platforms, and still keep the wireless HDMI transmitter and extra cables tucked behind the TV so they are out of sight. Overall, happy with my purchase. I thought a 65" screen would seem bigger, but I guess I have a big wall.

Amazing image, great quality and features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been LG's TV customer for the last 12 years and I was looking an upgrade for my 55" 3D LG TV without expense to much money. Since last year I read that 55" serie P of TCL was one of the best TV only below of best OLED and premium brand's TV, so since then I was a follower of TCL. So, basically I was decided to buy 65" serie 6 of TCL with some concerns about quality issues, google assistance connectivity, roku system (since I never owned a TV with roku), and also quality of the image since I saw this TV in display at best buy store, even do, I bought it. Quality of TV's frame: It looks so good and great quality in finish. Looks nice in my TV room. Remote Control: It is very small and looks cheap, however its functionally is excellent. I'm ok, but could be more roust. Roku TV system: My first time with this software, and Wao! very friendly user interface, so fast to load applications... Now I really love Roku's system. This TV is ready to use google assistance due last Roku's software update. Sound: I read that sound is very bad, but to my this is not an issue because I have 7.2.2 home cinema, even do, to be honest sound of the TV is good comparing with most of the TVs. Obviously is not comparing with home cinema or sounds bar, but I ok with TV's sound. Image quality of streaming videos: Wao, wao, Image looks incredible (see pictures attached). I streaming some 4K's videos from you tube and its amazing. specially those videos with HDR. If you try, just be aware that you will need an internet connection of at least 20 Mbs so see real 4K videos. I realized that you can see videos at 1440P with DHR but this is not real 4K image...but again, just make sure you select video quality to 4K. Image quality of 1080P BluRay: I was complete surprise of the significant improvement of regular HD into this TV. Obviously is not a 4K image quality, but comparing with my last HD 55" TV, it is a big improvement. I guess this TV has a great up-scaling feature. At this point of the review I will not see bluray's 4K movies yet, but hopefully in a couple of days I will receive my new 4k player to see it in dolby vision! In conclusion: Amazing image, amazing system (Roku), great product without any quality's complaint so far. I'm very excited with this purchase. If you want to have the same results than I, just make sure that: 1. Buy HDMI cables version 2.0 which is for 4K tv's. 18 Gb speed. 2. If you have home theater, make sure it has support for HDMI for 4K (HDCP 2.2). 3. Your internet connection speed needs to be at least 20Mbs if you want to streaming real 4K. 4. Buy 4K player with dolby vision feature. 5. Buy 4K movies with HDR dolby vision.. Juts be aware that most of the movies has HDR 10, but the best is HDR dolby vision (most of the news movies has it). 6. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy

It’s just great all around....
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This item is not the best of the best, and there are flaws in some of the design aspects. It doesn’t have the best picture or highest refresh rate in the world. And the sound is a little flawed on certain apps. What this Item DOES have though, far outweighs those blanket shortcomings that you absolutely run in to when buying any TV that isn’t an extremely pricey OLED. This TV is extremely user friendly, my grandmother can use this thing without a hitch. Everything is right there on the Home Screen right when it’s powered up. Left side of the screen has all your selections for searching, settings, and featured and on the “Home” tab you have your inputs at the very beginning which can be named for anyone who has trouble technologically. The picture is true 4K HDR 10-Bit and the lighting array is True Full-Array with your standard Local Dimming setting that can be heightened or lessened depending on your taste and what your watching/playing. There is a game mode that sacrifices quality for performance(TrueMotion 240) but it’s extremely slight that it’s hard to notice any difference in quality. You can tell on the fluidity of the frames though, I must say. So I keep mine on while gaming. The speakers are not the best in the world and they have their issues but they’re not the worst either by a long shot. Deep bass and a nice 2.1 Channel experience. The processor could do a better job on processing the effects sounds and music over the voices/narration. To hear the voices good you have to have it around a 30-35 and the music/SFX are ridiculously loud at the level. But it’s not a speaker issue, it’s a processor shortcoming. Performance wise I can say that this Device is on par with a mid range Samsung, given this operating system is far less demanding than an LG or Samsung’s OS it’s for you to decide if that’s good or not. It has an extensive I/O(input/output) panel. Fiber Optic, 3 HDMI(ARC), YPbPr, LAN, Headphone jack, VGA, usb, etc. The stands are well made, as is the mounting system in the back. The frame of the TV is high quality and the finish is absolutely delicious at this Charred Silver and Black combination. All in all I give the Device a 7.6/10 in performance and a 9/10 in performance vs cost. Because you get every penny you spend on this beautifully crafted device. Have a great day! Best Bang for Buck
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this after my 9-yr old 55” LG LCD went dead. I honestly bought because it had Roku, but after watching it for 4 weeks, the picture and sound is very good - regardless of the low price. Glad I took the advice of salesman and went with the 6-Series over the 5-Series I originally came in to purchase (I have a 40” 5-Series in my bedroom-and love it as well). The biggest upgrade was the full-array LED screen, which seems to make it have better blacks and contrast compared to my 40”. I would recommend and would buy again.

Excellent 4K HDR TV for the price!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very satisfied with my new TCL ROKU television and the overall experience with Best Buy‘s ordering and delivery process and would recommend it to anyone that asks! Communication, scheduling, and delivery were all handled professionally and on time! I’ve had the TV set up for a few days now and prior to any calibration, I am very impressed with the picture quality and features. Features I really like: - You can connect a USB Thumb Drive to the USB port and use it to pause live ANTENNA TV for up to 90 minutes ( a great overlooked and rarely mentioned feature)! - Though this TV doesn’t come with a voice remote like its 65R617 counterpart, you can still use an existing one from other Roku devices (in my case I used the one from my now unnecessary Roku 4) or purchase one separately to pair with your TV! Works like a charm! - Free Roku App has voice, headphones, and remote control features to operate your television via your smart phone or tablet! Works flawlessly for me! - Alexa integration works great once you set it up properly (took me a few tries due to having previous Roku devices that conflicted). Once setup, I can now tell Alexa to turn the TV on and off, adjust the volume, change the channel and inputs, etc. I have my Yamaha 4K ready receiver, Xbox one X, and Apple TV all connected to my TCL Roku TV with no problems from any device. All receiving 4K and HDR / Dolby Vision signals via applicable programming from Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and recently HULU as well! Even antenna TV for local channels and my composite video connected basic cable box look very good on this television! I Purchased this TV previously from Rakuten but had to return it due to a defective screen. The 2nd time around I went with Best Buy and am so glad I did. Not only did I end up getting a better price by about $60, but delivery was also free, very professional, and on time. As a Best Buy rewards member, I also got some points on top of that. Overall, A great experience, a great TV, and the best value, video quality, and feature set for the price! Get this TV on sale if you can, but even at regular price it’s a deal!

Asked by Anonymous.

Q: QuestionI have noticed that the 65r617 comes with an infrared remote. While I realize the model at best buy (65r615) does not, is the unit capable of working with the infrared remote? I've noticed I can get on amazon and buy an IR remote for 9 bucks.

Q: QuestionWill the Roku® Enhanced Voice Remote (RC193) work with this TV?
Asked by Jason.
- A:Answer I purchased the 65R615 from my local Best Buy just a few weeks ago. I then purchased the Roku® Enhanced Voice Remote with TV power and volume buttons model # RC193 online direct from Roku. The remote works perfectly with this TV and controls all functions using RF, and not IR as the remote did which was included with the 65R615. Voice commands also work very well. This remote (RC193) is definitely an upgrade from the remote included with the tv and is the one that should have been provided in the first place by Best Buy.
