Excellent 4K HDR TV for the price!

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Picture, Price, RokuCons mentioned:RemoteI am very satisfied with my new TCL ROKU television and the overall experience with Best Buy‘s ordering and delivery process and would recommend it to anyone that asks! Communication, scheduling, and delivery were all handled professionally and on time! I’ve had the TV set up for a few days now and prior to any calibration, I am very impressed with the picture quality and features. Features I really like: - You can connect a USB Thumb Drive to the USB port and use it to pause live ANTENNA TV for up to 90 minutes ( a great overlooked and rarely mentioned feature)! - Though this TV doesn’t come with a voice remote like its 65R617 counterpart, you can still use an existing one from other Roku devices (in my case I used the one from my now unnecessary Roku 4) or purchase one separately to pair with your TV! Works like a charm! - Free Roku App has voice, headphones, and remote control features to operate your television via your smart phone or tablet! Works flawlessly for me! - Alexa integration works great once you set it up properly (took me a few tries due to having previous Roku devices that conflicted). Once setup, I can now tell Alexa to turn the TV on and off, adjust the volume, change the channel and inputs, etc. I have my Yamaha 4K ready receiver, Xbox one X, and Apple TV all connected to my TCL Roku TV with no problems from any device. All receiving 4K and HDR / Dolby Vision signals via applicable programming from Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and recently HULU as well! Even antenna TV for local channels and my composite video connected basic cable box look very good on this television! I Purchased this TV previously from Rakuten but had to return it due to a defective screen. The 2nd time around I went with Best Buy and am so glad I did. Not only did I end up getting a better price by about $60, but delivery was also free, very professional, and on time. As a Best Buy rewards member, I also got some points on top of that. Overall, A great experience, a great TV, and the best value, video quality, and feature set for the price! Get this TV on sale if you can, but even at regular price it’s a deal!

Amazing for the Price
Posted .Pros mentioned:Ease of use, Picture, PriceCons mentioned:MotionINTRO: I have had this tv for 6 days now. Prior to purchase, I spent hours on youtube researching what I wanted, even spending time in the Burlington, NC store to see images of TV's in person where security was called on me, I guess research is suspicious. Everything looked amazing and the only tv I researched not displayed was the TCL R615. I was set on the samsung q6f but took my shot with TCL after all the hype for the price. PROS: This picture is amazing. I used YouTube to find the best picture settings and the brightness may not be considered high end but watching movies in a dim or dark room makes me squint on bright highlights, explosions, etc. And the first time the tv went black, I thought it cut off and all blacks are that way. If it's suppose to be black, it surely is. I love planet earth and blue planet and to watch these in 4K HDR on this tv will make you want to buy it immediately. The roku system is easy to use and the roku app for your phone gives some added features making it even easier and nicer all together. The app will become your smart remote. Navigating menus is very easy. Overall, Picture and Usage is ***** (5star) CONS: 5hrs. after hooking this tv up, it developed 2 stuck pixels. I noticed them turning on a wide screen movie by luck but tv is so bright that after watching content even for a few seconds, my eyes can't adjust for a while to even find those pixels. Next is motion, the interpolation is horrible. Ghosting, artifacts, out right disappearing. Watch blue planet with smoothing on medium, birds flying over the ocean would disappear and come back. Slow scenes on Venom for instance has lots of ghosting and artifacts. I basically turned it off and use the natural cinema feature. I don't get the soap opera affect I like but the picture is amazing. CCONCLUSION: I've fought myself for the last few days to take this tv back and get the q6f like I wanted initially but it keeps coming back to the picture and unless you have $2000+ I just don't think you'll come close to it. If I go for q6 I lose picture quality for better motion and yes I game but I'm a visual person and I choose picture over motion.

Just over one year and backlight has failed
|Posted .Owned for 1 year when reviewed.Features
Quality1 out of 5Value1 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5This panel worked well for about a year. 14 months into owning the set it started to exhibit a strange issue. When the panel is turned on it would no turn the backlight on. If you get close to the panel you could make out the image and you could hear the sounds of the menu navigation, however the panel would not be lit up. After resetting the panel I am able to resolve the issue but only for another day or so and it starts happening again. I have tried several troubleshooting steps and even tried working with TCL. After gathering information about my situation and acknowledging that I was a mere 2 months past my warranty they informed me I am out of luck. I am not stuck with a panel that sometimes works. Incredibly displeased. I cannot recommend TCL and would advise that you save yourself the stress and find another company that will go the extra mile when the have a known issue. I understand that any company can bad units ship. I understand that there are probably many TCL units out there now that have years and years of flawless service. However, my specific experience with them and their inability to acknowledge a manufacturing defect that can be seen with a quick google search, has led me to never purchase from them again. I hope this review saves at least one other person from my situation.

Great TV, but questionable quality assurance
|Posted .Received and mounted this TV in the last week, Overall I am very pleased with the picture quality and styling of the TV ... it is a good looking unit. My only gripe is with a tiny screw lying loose within the casing, which makes me wonder what else could be lurking within. TV seems to be working perfectly and is wall mounted, so I am not seriously considering a return, but wanted BestBuy and TCL to be aware of this quality assurance issue. Hopefully both companies read this review. I am attaching a couple of photos of the tiny loose screw visible through the bottom grille of the TV.

darn panel lottery
|Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality1 out of 5Value1 out of 5Ease of Use1 out of 5bought 12/13. Opened and set up 12/20. Returned 12/24. After much research over the whole "banding" or "dirty screen effect" I decided to purchase this well reviewed 6 series set for an incredible $500 and hope for the best. I immediately saw a problem. Dark random spots that appeared and disappeared over the 3 days I tested it. Sometimes dark strips top to bottom. Sometimes just round spots. Possibly failing backlight leds (a friend told me). The return was incredibly easy, by the way. No one at the local BB asked me the reason for return OR if there was issues. They simply scanned the box, printed return receipt and I was out. Didn't even asked my name or ID or anything. That just makes me wonder what the heck they do with these? Do they test afterwards or simply sell as open box? And this is why I would NEVER buy an open box from ANYWHERE. This was the second 65 inch set (the first was a Hisense) that I returned in the past 3 weeks. I'm done buying budget big screen for awhile.

Amazing image, great quality and features
|Posted .Pros mentioned:Picture, Price, RokuI've been LG's TV customer for the last 12 years and I was looking an upgrade for my 55" 3D LG TV without expense to much money. Since last year I read that 55" serie P of TCL was one of the best TV only below of best OLED and premium brand's TV, so since then I was a follower of TCL. So, basically I was decided to buy 65" serie 6 of TCL with some concerns about quality issues, google assistance connectivity, roku system (since I never owned a TV with roku), and also quality of the image since I saw this TV in display at best buy store, even do, I bought it. Quality of TV's frame: It looks so good and great quality in finish. Looks nice in my TV room. Remote Control: It is very small and looks cheap, however its functionally is excellent. I'm ok, but could be more roust. Roku TV system: My first time with this software, and Wao! very friendly user interface, so fast to load applications... Now I really love Roku's system. This TV is ready to use google assistance due last Roku's software update. Sound: I read that sound is very bad, but to my this is not an issue because I have 7.2.2 home cinema, even do, to be honest sound of the TV is good comparing with most of the TVs. Obviously is not comparing with home cinema or sounds bar, but I ok with TV's sound. Image quality of streaming videos: Wao, wao, Image looks incredible (see pictures attached). I streaming some 4K's videos from you tube and its amazing. specially those videos with HDR. If you try, just be aware that you will need an internet connection of at least 20 Mbs so see real 4K videos. I realized that you can see videos at 1440P with DHR but this is not real 4K image...but again, just make sure you select video quality to 4K. Image quality of 1080P BluRay: I was complete surprise of the significant improvement of regular HD into this TV. Obviously is not a 4K image quality, but comparing with my last HD 55" TV, it is a big improvement. I guess this TV has a great up-scaling feature. At this point of the review I will not see bluray's 4K movies yet, but hopefully in a couple of days I will receive my new 4k player to see it in dolby vision! In conclusion: Amazing image, amazing system (Roku), great product without any quality's complaint so far. I'm very excited with this purchase. If you want to have the same results than I, just make sure that: 1. Buy HDMI cables version 2.0 which is for 4K tv's. 18 Gb speed. 2. If you have home theater, make sure it has support for HDMI for 4K (HDCP 2.2). 3. Your internet connection speed needs to be at least 20Mbs if you want to streaming real 4K. 4. Buy 4K player with dolby vision feature. 5. Buy 4K movies with HDR dolby vision.. Juts be aware that most of the movies has HDR 10, but the best is HDR dolby vision (most of the news movies has it). 6. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy

Q: QuestionHow wide is the stand for the 65" series 6 TCL tv. I need something that will fit on my existing cardenza
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Don't know what TCL would say, but I inverted my feet so they are pointing in (without doing any modifications) and the TV would now sit on any surface over 37 inches long and about 11 1/4 inches wide.

Q: QuestionI have noticed that the 65r617 comes with an infrared remote. While I realize the model at best buy (65r615) does not, is the unit capable of working with the infrared remote? I've noticed I can get on amazon and buy an IR remote for 9 bucks.

Q: QuestionWill the Roku® Enhanced Voice Remote (RC193) work with this TV?
Asked by Jason.
- A:Answer I purchased the 65R615 from my local Best Buy just a few weeks ago. I then purchased the Roku® Enhanced Voice Remote with TV power and volume buttons model # RC193 online direct from Roku. The remote works perfectly with this TV and controls all functions using RF, and not IR as the remote did which was included with the 65R615. Voice commands also work very well. This remote (RC193) is definitely an upgrade from the remote included with the tv and is the one that should have been provided in the first place by Best Buy.
