Q: Can you write the code for this on iOS or does it require a computer?

A: No computer is involved. Coding is done by placing different types of small pieces on the coding wheel. Look at Youtubes from manufacturer to explain this. I found this to be a very clever idea and demonstrates the basic idea of programming. (I was a software engineer for years and managed software projects working in Operating Systems and Networking for a series of major vendors.)
