A nearly perfect EVSE for your EV
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The EVSE from Tesla is a great charging option for your J1772 equipped vehicle. As long as your wiring is capable of handling the maximum output of 48 amps and your car is capable of charge speeds of 11.5 kWh on a 240v circuit, this will be enough to charge any modern EV fit sale on the market (including Teslas with the adapter). The user interface is tricky to get into, but useful for setting up power output based off your panel config. My only critique, there release button when it’s connected to either the car our the dock is under a rubber boot built into the handle design. It’s at times slightly harder to depress than other EVSE designs, but this means it’s also protected from the elements if it’s mounted outdoors exposed to weather.

The best charger for Non-tesla EVs
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the way to go! I purchased a 2023 Cadillac Lyriq and it included a level 1 charger right out of the dealer. The level 1 charger is extremely slow (taking up to 4-5 days to charge from 0-80%) and should only be used for emergencies. The level 1 charger also includes a level 2 adapter, so in theory, you can have an electrician install a “50 AMP NEMA 14-50 Receptacle” (commonly found at electric dryers installations) and improve the charging speed to within 24 hours for 0-100% charge. However, the build quality of the portable charger included does not feel like it could stand a daily plug/unplug for the years to come if being used as the main charger. For that reason, I looked around for a more reliable Fixed-Wall charger. There are many options in the market, and the Lyriq requires a J1772 plug for charging. So below a describe combination that can be used when searching for a wall charger Using a Tesla-Wall charger that comes standard with a NACS and purchasing a NACS-to-J1772 adapter (since the Lyric and most non-tesla cars come with the J1772 at this moment. This might change in the future). Using a J1772 Wall charger. There are many options available, in fact Cadillac suggest their own product called “Ultium powerup level 2 charger” however since these products are usually new/not-mature in the market there is some reliability concerns around them (suggestions: Chargepoint, Emporia, Wallbox, Tesla-for-non-Teslas are just a few options that you might consider). I went with the Tesla-Wall connector J1772 and installed it as “Hardwired” (this mean that the charger is plugged directly to the circuit box instead of connecting it to a 50 AMP receptacle) this way you get the fastest speed possible when charging. I made the decision because of electricians recommendations, and also since Tesla has been around for more than 10 years they have matured enough to create reliable Wall-Charger products. It has been working perfectly with no issues at all. I never had a glitch, bad connections, weird noise, NOTHING! Pros: High quality product Simple installation Slim and flexible design (you can provide main connection from the top or button of the device, other charges might limit you to only run connection from the bottom) Cable does not “tangle” easily Looks great, light to pick-up and handle Cons: Does not provide App integration (most cars have their own app for charging schedules and charging management) Conclusion: This product is HIGHLY recommended and purchasing it from Best buy will get you the best warranty and company-consumer policies.

Best all around charger…
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.…for the money. The setup is super easy to follow thanks to being able to access step-by-step installation instructions in 3D. The wifi connection was slightly more tricky but wasn’t difficult. The cord is 24” long and the case acts as a holder for the cable (bonus). The downside is the lack of an official app to do a lot of the setup. Instead, there is a web gui that is associated with the charger’s ip address. This is where it becomes a little tricky for folks. The gui doesn’t offer much beyond getting it set up. There are not connection/charging stats to look at (if you are into that sort of thing).

Great product! We are finally saving money!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good! We are saving so much time and money with this. It does exactly what it suppose to and it was quick installation from a electrian. I only wish it came with its own tesla adapter. The tesla comes with an adapter but I would rather keep that one in the car for when we are away from the house. It's not a big deal to just take the adapter off when we go on trips but we will probably buy another adapter just have an extra one.

Nice integration with Tesla
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although any charger can essentially work with any car, the benefit of this unit is that it integrates well with the Tesla app where you can see your car and the charger in the same app. I'm sure the functionality can be achieved with other similar high quality chargers but this integration is nice. It's not the cheapest but it's also not the most expensive so I deem the value as good. Installation and commissioning was also pretty straightforward assuming your electrician can provide 240V service access.

Great for a Tesla Non-Tesla home
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have a Tesla and a Mustang Mache, so when we decided to swap our NEMA 14-50 for a hardwired charging station it really came down to this and the Wallbox. This was less expensive and although it does not have a way to tweak and view charging stats in an app like some other units, we can do that stuff with the car and Tesla/Ford apps themselves. Jt is still wifi connected for firmware updates and setting amperage on initial setup, that pricess was pretty straightforward. The j1772 plug seems to of great quality, is nice and slim compare with the Ford mobile unit and is working great.

Versatile home charger.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Another top notch Tesla product. We got this charger so we can charge both our Tesla and a plug in hybrid with the same charger. At the time, it was actually cheaper than many of the other home chargers on the market. We’re very pleased with it. You DO need to use the adapter that comes with your Tesla with this charger as it has the J1772 standard on the end. If you don’t need to charge anything other than a Tesla, buy the less expensive regular Tesla home charger.

Q: QuestionHow does this charger charge two evs at once?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer No home charger in the market can do that today. one car per charger but you can have more than 1 charger and as long as they are the tesla models (Even if one is J1772 and the other Tesla connector) they can power share in order to reduce the load to the house if necessary.

Q: QuestionDoes this need to be installed by an electrician?
Asked by Daniel.
- A:Answer It depends if you have the necessary voltage available. In my case I needed a 60 amp breaker to handle the 48 amp load. So that did require a bit more than general hookup. Depending on your available load will also determine your necessary breaker. It says in the instructions it can use two types but the latter and higher output is what I opted for. Which equates to faster charging. I can’t say time difference but anything is bette me than trying to use a regular 110 outlet.
