An action packed Sci-Fi movie with heart

Four waves of increasingly deadly attacks have left most of Earth in ruin. Against a backdrop of fear and distrust, Cassie is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother. As she prepares for the inevitable and lethal fifth wave, Cassie teams up with a young man who may become her final hope - if she can only trust him. The 5th Wave is a really exciting sci-fi movie with great ideas, its a movie that don't need to show much in the way of aliens and high tech stuff like most sci-fi, instead we get a basic underline plan of what is happening and the movie is driven by a wonderfully strong young cast of great actors and actresses and an enjoyable story of family and saving those we care about, the movie of course has some top notch effects especially when we see the early waves destroy the earth, the movie has an invasion of the body snatchers feel to it mixed with other things, the movie is well paced and builds up really well over the run time and keeps you interested mainly due to a strong cast especially the lovely Chloe Grace Moretz who is a fantastic young actress who is probably at her best in this movie, the rest of the cast is good too, the soundtrack is great too, this is a top notch sci-fi that's really worth checking out if you want something that's original, easy on the brain and not too over the top, and has a bit more heart to the story.

I bought this movie based on the trailers I saw. They portrayed an entertaining adventure of aliens coming to earth. After watching the movie (in which I fast forwarded in places - never a good sign for the movie) I was disappointed. Good science fiction at least answers most of the story questions that are obvious even though some questions about the story may not be fully answered. Bad science fiction doesn't even try hard to do that. Which to me is insulting the viewer, so I classify this movie as bad science fiction. They did not answer many of the obvious questions I had. Without giving away any spoilers, the story has a huge spaceship hovering over the earth which itself demonstrates very evolved technology and power. The expectation is that this power and technology will be a key element in the story. This should also be a factor in the fear humans have of the aliens and cause them to behave accordingly. The movie does not seem to know how to utilize this properly and the result is an unexciting and below average movie from what you would expect. Maybe it was the budget they had that limited things or just poor writing. Ultimately, I would not recommend paying to see this - if you can watch it for free, then it's a movie to watch if you have nothing else to do on a weekend.

I'll start by saying that I have seen the movie and it is a good movie, which is what I rated. That being said, I had issues with the actual advertising on the blu-ray case. I have a huge digital movie collection, and this case said it included the ultraviolet digital copy. When I opened the case at home, it did not include the sheet with the digital copy code on it. So I went to the Best Buy store and explained the issue. They let me go get another one from the shelf, that also had the sticker on it saying it included the digital copy. I opened it at the service desk in front of the BB employee, and it also didn't have the digital copy paper with the code. I went back and got the last one they had on the shelf. Again it had the promise of the digital copy on the outside of the case, and again opened it in front of the BB employee, and still no digital copy included. The date on the digital copy sticker on the outside was not past the expiration date. If you are just looking for the movie and don't care about the digital copy, you are good to go. If you are expecting the digital copy, and decide to buy this, you may want to open it at the store in front of an employee.

I really believe the movie deserves 3 1/2 stars, but I can only vote whole stars. This movie follows the basic horror/suspense movie formula and I think that is where it loses it's momentum. This is the first of a series, and though I have not read the books, it seems they were written to not be able to stand on it's own as a separate story. So much time is spent wondering what is going to happen, that in the end, I felt the entire movie was a prelude to future movies. It isn't all bad. I really liked the action scenes andthe lead actress is fantastic in carrying the entire weight of this movie on her shoulders. So my final adbice? If you love action suspense movies ssprinkled with horror, go for it. If you aren't sure? Rent the movie first.

      Poorly Written, Very Predictable

By the movie trailer this looked like a fairly good movie. While it sort of kept my interest throughout, it was very poorly written and extremely predictable. They were going for a Divergent style movie to kickstart a new series, however I never would want to watch this again and hopefully there won't be any more of them. Worth a watch if you have a free RedBox rental or when it goes on NetFlix, but otherwise it was just a confusing mess which ended up being really limited in events and ended just as i thought it would. Acting was decent and special effects were fairly well done, but over-all I give it a solid pass.

I enjoyed this show because it was a departure from the other teeny movies that have been produced in the past. I noticed one scene though that i thought took away from the show. That was when the three main characters meet in a hallway. The hallway looked fabricated, which of course it was, but it showed. Other than that the acting was great, the special affects were excellent, and of course the actors gave the impression that they were the real deal. Nice to see especially in a show of this magnitude. I have read the second book in the series and look forward to seeing the movie.

This is an awesome movie! Watching what this girl goes thru o find her little brother is amazing. To think one day she is your average happy go lucky teenage, then the next day her world is turned upside down. The life she once knew is gone. The world is in shambles, her mother dies, her father is killed at a camp & her little brother has been kidnapped by what they were told was the Army. Risking her life, she searches dangerous areas trying to find him & to save him from the enemies that are taking over the world.

Okay while not the best book to movie adaptation I did rather enjoy it. Yes I am that nerd who compares the movie to the book. I can't help it. I read the book before seeing the movie, not with the intention to see the movie directly after reading the book. They naturally toned down SO many things that were in the book, but overall I found the movie rather enjoyable. Good storyline and good execution of said story line and good actors. My advice is if you see the movie don't read the book! :-)
