Widely regarded as two of the most eminent performers in the history of bluegrass, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs teamed up with their Foggy Mountain Boys band, and helped to define the shape of country music in the late '50s and early '60s. Coincident with this success, they also headlined a series of television specials entitled Flat & Scruggs' Grand Ole Opry, which showcased their musical performances between 1955 and 1969. The Best of the Flat & Scruggs TV Show compiles the finest of these performances into single volumes; this particular installment pulls the bulk of its material from shows aired in 1961 and 1962, with such numbers as "I'll Never Be Lonesome Again," "I'll Go Stepping Too," "You Won't Be Satisfied That Way," and "God Loves His Children." As an added bonus, the release also includes various original commercials for Martha White biscuit and muffin products.
