I own all ten seasons of TBBT on DVD. I think this will be the last season I buy. I don't have a TV, so I always wait until the disks are available, and then watch whole seasons. For the first four seasons, it was consistently funny. Characters had nuance and more depth than is typical for a situation comedy. Leonard was the glue, but struggled with his shyness and insecurity about women. Sheldon said things that were inappropriate, but he came across as mostly clueless. Raj did good physical comedy, and Howard was a pitiful "player". Penny brought the "normal person" perspective, and made the whole recipe work. Starting about season six or seven, all of those things started to change, and by this season almost all the things that made the series funny are gone. Leonard is a clueless dweeb who does stupid things for no reason. Sheldon is just mean. Raj is relegated to typical sitcom wisecracks that are not funny. Bernadette jumps between syrupy sweetness and loudly chewing everyone out. Etc. Only Kaley Cuoco as Penny has continued to do a somewhat nuanced performance. What this means while watching season ten is that I cringe a lot more than I laugh. I think in the early seasons is was perhaps one cringe per ten laughs. Now it's about five cringes per one laugh. That's just not a pleasant viewing experience. Now, most of this isn't the actors' fault. The writing and direction have become formulaic and trite. The atmosphere has gone to "typical sitcom farce" instead of leveraging the special nature of the geeky characters as in the first few seasons. Season nine was not great, but not this bad, and some very mediocre episodes were made up by the last episode being really good. You would think that the season opener for season ten would build on that good episode, but instead it was just stupid, with too many characters being spiteful and mean-spirited. They've got two more seasons in contract, and if they can't revitalize this show with some different writers and direction, I really hope it comes to an end.

Okay first we need to get biases out of the way. I like the Big Bang Theory, I like the characters, I think the comedy is generally pretty good. If you haven't figured out by the 10th season whether or not I you fall in the same category, this review will not be helpful to you. Having said that, the earliest seasons were some of the best. Later seasons were a little uneven. This season reminded me of the older seasons. The shows are more consistently funny the characters funny rather than irritating and I generally enjoyed it. By the 10th season you probably know if you collect these DVDs or not. I have the other night season so I'm committed till either I die or the show ends. This is a good addition to my set.

I could never quite understand people who shun this series merely because it tends to walk the traditional sitcom path. Big Bang Theory remains, bar none, the best comedy on television. While it may not provide the character complexity of the Middle or the dramedy of Modern Family, the colorful cast of Leonard, Sheldon, Raj, Howie, Penny, Bernadette and Amy always bring a big smile and laughs. Season 10 may not advance the characters' stories, but the funnies are still as great as before. Also, I find BBT infinitely re-watchable. Highly recommended! If you haven't seen the older seasons, go back -- there are no bad episodes.

While still occasionally good for a laugh, the characters are become somewhat tired and predictable. Fans of the show have lived in a type of suspended reality where a seemingly intellectual person like Leonard would want to marry a vacuous person like Penny. Or is that the premise? The real positive here is that the producers have seemingly dropped the notion that casting "oddball" women to interact with Raj is just not working. The majority just being plain annoying and poorly written. I hold out hope though, for season 11. I always come back...I can't help myself.

I guess one would have to be a true fan of a series if they are writing a review of a show's 10th season. This season's was more enjoyable then the last few. Highlights included Sheldon and Leonard speaking Klingon while Amy and Penny spoke Ubbi Dubbi so they wouldn't understand each other's conversation. I always like when they bring back Zack. He is definitely one of my favorite characters and I wish they would replace Raj and Steward with him. I can't stand them both and this season proves their characters are pretty pointless. Everyone else is still funny.

This is by far one of the best shows on the idiot box today. The characters are those individual that you may know in your everyday life. Not that everyone runs around with a physiatrist but chances are you know someone with the same quirks as these guys. Love the show worth the watching again and again. I like it so much I bought all the seasons. I guess I’m just a big fan. Watch it and see if you don’t recognize so one in your circle of friends that don’t remind you of one of these characters. Bet you laugh yourself silly.

Spoiler Alert: I already own the first 9 years of The Big Bang series on DVD and watch the show on TV for new episodes and reruns. You bet I like it. But why? I rate the Big Bang as good comedy that will last....like the 1950s TV show I Love Lucy. The characters are well developed, so that they are funny when they interact AND when they interact beyond their expected personalities, they touch the heart. Great acting, great writing, and great production. A1 show.

I have enjoyed BB since its beginning. Howard has mellowed tremendously since the beginning, and they have developed Raj very well. But I think Leonard is getting lost behind the bevy of characters in the show. What made the show great was the back-and-forth of Sheldon and Leonard. Now it revolves all around the couples. Not a bad thing, but it has changed since the beginning. If you enjoy seeing Stuart, though, you will enjoy this season (I think Stuart is hilarious).
