    POWERFUL

Did Dr.Dre set hip hop on fire with this album or what?!!! In 1993, hip hop heads weren't prepared for this one, as Death Row came through and literally dominated the hip hop scene. The Chronic is a gritty MASTERPIECE, one of the greatest albums to EVER be released. This album also has the reputation of being POSSIBLY the best produced album that Dre has been responsible for. It put Snoop Dogg on the map, and the world hasn't been the same since. Here's the review: Album Highlights: The ENTIRE album, no filler on this one. Production: Thumbs WAY up, Dre at his supreme best. Lyrics and Subject Matter: Thumbs up. Originality: Thumbs up. The Last Word: This album is SO AWESOME,from start to finish. Everything you could possibly want out of a gangsta album, THIS IS IT. There will NEVER AGAIN be an album this powerful in hip hop, especially in today's hip hop. Dr.Dre himself would have to word TRIPLE overtime to produce another CLASSIC like this. Overall, one of the STRONGEST recommendations EVER.

    Chronic by Dre classic

A must have classic cd 1989's Straight Outta Compton, by Dre's previous outfit N.W.A., may have shined the public spotlight on the genre, but The Chronic legitimized it. That is not to say that Snoop Doggy Dogg (The Chronic marks his debut) and Dre's raps are for everyone; the subject matter is abt Cali, and politics of South Central Los Angeles, and the phrasing is explicit, to say the least. But The Chronic's real genius is the music. By breeding hip-hop, jazz (studio instrumentation includes saxophones and flutes), funk, and soul (sampled artists include Parliament, Donny Hathaway, and Isaac Hayes), Dre creates downright intoxicating grooves. If you can't feel The Chronic pulsating through your veins, maybe your heart's not pumping.

Dr.Dre brought the Chronic to the mainstream on December 15, 1992 and it change the structure of music and shook up the recird industry. With his innovative beats, sounds, and samples along with his use of synthesizers Dr.Dre single handedly created what would come to be known as G-Funk. The second coming of his career took off after his exit from Ruthless Records and the worlds most dangerous group N.W.A this would be the beginning of one the most incredible comeback stories in the history of music.

This album dropped when I was about 15 years old. I'm just now buying a copy. Boy did I not know what I was missing. This a blast from the past. It really brings back some memories from high school and the times. This album provides insight on the topics of rap during its release and some of the beefs that were present also. What a CD. It also lets you get away from the rap music that is being made today. I would recommend this album to anyone., especially if you are in your late 20's early 30's.

This is a classic album -- a must have for rap fans. It's unfortunate I couldn't stream this via Google Play Music... since I could not stream, this is the first CD I've purchased in over a decade.

In short if you are building up your rap albums, you must have this one in your collection. Contributions by Snoop Dogg are great. Be forewarned: the tracks on the album include subjects such as sexism, drugs, and violence.
