Description
Volume two of this four-part series on the history of golf focuses on the years 1917-1944, when golf became a highly popular pastime. The emergence of world-class competitions such as the Grand Slam, the Ryder Cup Matches, and the Masters were responsible for bringing the sport before the mass public. The latter part of the film looks at the role women began to play in the sport. Interest among women in golf came largely because of the influence of Babe Zaharias, the U.S. Olympian Track and Field Gold Medalist, who turned to golf in 1935 and dominated the game for the next 20 years. Photography, film clips, and interviews tell of this early era of modern golf. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter, Rovi
