This game defines epic.
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis is my first review that i have done for a game here, and i think this is the perfect game to review. There are a lot of rpgs on the market and there a lot of rpgs that can be considered top in its class. This game surpasses that. How so......read on......i'll tell you. When it comes to vast landscapes, hours of adventures, a good story, solid game play, and all around fun, this game offers that fully. The dept of the game is deeper than many games and the only game that can probably get close to being as deep as it is, is its predecessor. You can basically do whatever you want to do. You want to explore different cities and villages, do it. Want to smith your own weapons and sell them to earn some extra gold, go for it. Wanna make armor and enchant it so it can better protect you, enchant away! Want to loot and plunder caves, rob villagers, sleep all day, wake up and go on an epic quest for a dog, HAVE AT YOU! In this game, you can literally do whatever you wish. The only boundaries you have is your on imagination. The graphics on the game is phenomenal. Not a giant step above oblivion, but still beautiful none the less. The character models are awesome, and they don't all look alike!!! *yay!* The scenery of Skyrim is very impressive, and lets not talk about the water animation, it looks as if you can literally dip your hand in it and take a sip.....well.....hoping a deer didn't relieve itself in it upstream. The amount of time that you can spend on this game is crazy. There is so much to do in this game that if your new to the Elder Scrolls games, you could get overwhelmed very easily. On the bright side however, they made the interface a lot easier to use now, so if you are new to the series, it will be easy to just pick up and play. The favorites list has to be one of the best new installments in this game that i like. Now, you can select any weapon, armor, or magic spell that you frequently use, and add it to your favorites. To select an item as your favorite, simply click the Y or triangle button and BAM! Now all you have to do is push up on the D pad to select it. The leveling up system has also changed making it easier for new players to get in and get there feet wet. When selecting new perks, don't just focus on one particular tree, move around to the others and see what they have to offer, and let me tell you, there is a LOT to offer. You can basically be and do whatever you want, there is no 'Warrior' class, or 'Rouge' class, you can be a big, strong meat eatin' guy, that runs around all day casting fire spells and using a dagger, or, a skinny high elf with a gigantic battle axe that eats carrots all day. Its totally up to you. I can keep going on about this game, but it would be better if i stop talking, and YOU get to playing. Speaking of which, i'm gonna go play now. and to those who are about to game, I SALUTE YOU!

The best RPG ever created
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendTo say Skyrim is the best RPG ever created is a bold statement in a genre filled with so many amazing titles. From the original Pool of Radiance, to Baulder's Gate, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect, and Fall Out (just to name a few) I have never played a RPG as beautiful, immersive, and as fun as Skyrim. With well over 100 hrs of game play, fun and exciting side quests, a great main story line, and a massively open-ended world to explore, Skyrim is guaranteed to put a major dent in your social life for weeks to come. Bethesda has improved on nearly every short coming of Oblivion. The characters and graphics are more realistic with a world where you can almost taste the dirt and grime. The process of character creation and leveling has been improved drastically. The crafting / alchemy system has also been revamped to allow for a substantially more fun experience (you can now also forge your own weapons and armor)! There is a much greater variety of weapons, armor, and miscellaneous items EACH beautifully rendered in stunning detail. There is also much more variety in textures eliminating the "every fort and dungeon looks the same". Your characters (and horses) now "stick" to the ground instead of floating / flying. The sound effects and sound track are awesome. I could go on and on over the awesomeness of this game and the huge improvements in brings to the Elder Scrolls series. However, there are a few cons as well. On the Xbox, loading times can be very long (on the PC they are nearly instantaneous). The graphics on the Xbox is also noticeably lower then the PC version. However, the game's interface and control is obviously designed for a console's controller and thus can be a little burdensome with a keyboard (luckily you can buy an Xbox like controller for the PC if you wish). Like any huge and complex game there are bugs to be worked out, some graphical anomalies, and a buggy companion path finding algorithm. Aside from the load times of the Xbox version, nothing close to being a deal breaker. In conclusion, if you like RPGs this is a MUST HAVE game.

Begin your other life!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI've had skyrim for a while now, but I wanted to wait until I pretty much had experienced everything I could before writing a review for it. I didn't want to fully endorse it only to find something that ruined the game for me. Of course, nothing happened like that. I know you've heard this from a bunch of different "fanboys" a bunch of different times but this game is awesome! I mean, this is a true RPG right here. It's huge! The world is massive and is just chuck full of things to explore. Gone are the times in the bast games when you would wander for miles and not encounter much at all. Now you are exploring caves, ruins, barracks, towns, cities almost constantly. That doesn't mean that you won't be able to just explore and take in the scenery, however. There are tons of places to climb up and see for miles and I would recommend it because this game is very good looking. The world is one of the most finely crafted I have seen in a video game. There are many things you can do as well. There is a pretty lengthy main quest that I found to be very good but I would constantly get sidetracked by my curiosity of my surroundings and people coming up to me to give me a side-quest. There are a handful of guilds to join and play through as well that have had a lot of attention paid to them. Add to this the ability to smith your own armor, create your own potions, etc. and you have a bunch to do in this game. There are also a ton of improvements to the combat from past games and conversing with the NPCs is much more fluid and interesting this time around. It's not perfect. Im sure you've hear about quite a few bugs and glitches in the game. Those are true. The thing is,though, not all of them happen in every single copy of the game. Very rarely are they game-breaking either. They are usually just amusing little things like flying mammoths that float gently to the ground after a while and stuff like that. Things I easily overlooked in that grand scope of the game. If you have decided not to play the game only because of something bad you've heard about it then you will be missing one of the best games to date. If anything you should also read about why people like it and then play it while giving it a chance. You'll probably find yourself wrapped up in it like I did.

The best game I've ever played.
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis game is beyond anything you'll have ever played. If you even minimally like RPG's, don't even think, just... buy this game. Its outstanding. The graphics are amazing, the story is intriguing. You can change the difficulty so it's not super hard. The music is epic and makes you feel as if you are in the game. It's simply... breath taking. I bought this game on midnight the day it came out and haven't left my house all weekend. Your character is exactly what you want it to be, it's perfect. If you've played Oblivion and are skeptical about buying this game due to bugs, things you didn't like about oblivion, etc., buy it anyways. I had been anticipating this game for such a long time, and everything that bothered me about Oblivion is changed in Skyrim. I've been playing the game nonstop, and I've only seen 2, maybe 3 bugs, as you would with any game that just came out. There are unlimited sidequests and unlimited dragons. I already have 75 hours in this game, and i'm not anywhere near done or content All in all, this game is honestly the best game I've ever played. It is everything I wanted in a new game. I feel like such a loser, being so obsessed, but I'm proud of my nerd-ness. <3 LOVETHISGAAAMEE. I would recommend it to absolutely anyone.

Skyrim has officially topped my list for best game
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendFor a long time, the number one game on my list has been Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Partly because of it's amazing story, and partly due to the fond memories I have associated with it. When Bethesda released Fallout 3, I thought that first place slot was going to be replaced. However, though Fallout 3 is a close second, its immersive gameplay and storyline were not quite good enough to overtake OOT and the memories. I had actually never played an Elder Scrolls until a friend had me borrow Oblivion. I enjoyed it, but there were too many things that annoyed me with it to really get into it. I had read reviews that a lot of the basic system had been improved with Skyrim, and so I decided to pre-order it. About 10 hours into the game, it replaced Fallout 3 as my number two. About 40 hours in, after having done a good number of side quests and a hefty portion of the main quest, it officially topped my list. The game is so immersive ... many of the characters seem so real, the landscape is unlike anything I've ever played, and the surprises that have come up are frequent enough to keep me on my toes. There may be slightly less humor to this game than one would come across in Fallout 3, but when Skyrim is funny, it's extremely brilliant. The fact that armor and weapons no longer degrade and break on you is one of my favorite changes that Bethesda has made. I understand that some people feel it takes away a certain realism from the game (because fighting dragons and mages is definitely part of my everyday life), but for me, it was just a nuisance. If you are wanting a game with a huge, open world environment where you can choose from hundreds of side quests and literally get lost in the game for hours on end, while having a blast , then this is definitely the game for you. If not, you should probably get back to your Modern Warfare 3.

One of the biggest games ever
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendCarrying on the tradition of TES, Skyrim is an extremely long, extremely well thought out game with 500+ hours of gameplay easily. The scope of skyrim is absolutely amazing, with hundreds of locations, NPCs, quests, and thousands of weapon and armor combination. Another way skyrim excels is the fact that there is a play style for everyone, mages, warriors, berserkers, archers, assassins, spellswords, and so much more. Skyrim is exciting and open right from the start, as you don't have to do the main quest at all, but can play for hundreds of hours without even starting the main quests. In addition to supporting so many types of characters, there are different guilds and factions that all offer their own story and questline. A mage can join the College of Winterhold, a warrior can join the Companions, an Assassin can join the Dark Brotherhood, a thief can join the Thieves guild, anyone can join either the imperials or stormcloaks and fight in the civil war, or, with the new expansion pack, players can play as either a vampire lord or a member of the Dawnguard. There are also other aspects besides questing, such a buying and decorating a home, smithing, enchanting, alchemy and a whole host of other things to do in Skyrim. This is truly the best game of this year, and one of the best ever, along with TES franchise, up there with the classics in sheer amount of gaming. Despite the M rating, I think that anyone 12 and above can play, because it isn't the most violent, bloody, or inappropriate game available. On another note, multiplayer may be a good thing for this game, but it doesn't have, despite good co-op and multiplayer opportunities. I also recommend a decent headset for full immersion, as this game has a lot of dialogue and arguably one of the best soundtracks currently. (See recommended products for ideas)

This Game IS AMAZING!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWhen I heard that Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was coming out in 2011, I was so pumped and every single day since i found out i've been in shock and awe on how complexly great this game will be. If you look at the very best RPG games most of them are made by Bethesda. For instance; All of the Elder Scrolls games since Morrowind have been game of the year, once in 2004 again in 2006 and hopefully again in 2011! Bethesda started working on this game immediately after Oblivion and have taken their sweet time in making this game near FLAWLESS. If you are a Modern Warfare fan and really like their multiplayer than this game is probably not for you, considering there is no multiplayer mode. I have so much faith in this game and if you are interested in buying an amazing game then buy this one! I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! The only advise i have for the h8trs out there, is to go on YouTube and watch all of the videos that have been put out for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim especially the game play ones

This game is ripped
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis is the only game I don't have to take a break from because of bordem. I've been playing it ever since I got it at midnight on the release date, and I don't think ill ever be able to do everything there is to do in Skyrim. There is imense detail in everything you see around the whole map. For me Skyrim rivals or maybe even beats Zelda Ocarina of Time, which I think is saying something.
