    Synopsis

    The Incredibles
Directed by Brad Bird, The Incredibles revolves around former high-profile superhero Bob Parr (aka Mr. Incredible), who has not-so-successfully settled into suburban life along with his wife and kids under the watchful eye of the Superhero Protection Program. A far cry from the "glory days" during which "supers" were a welcome addition to society, the Parrs' living situation was brought on after a series of superhero-related lawsuits forced them into hiding. When not trying to fight small-time crime undercover with fellow former superhero Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson), Parr (voice by Craig T. Nelson) is muddling through the corporate world as a paunchy, emotionally unsatisfied insurance claims adjuster. His family is like any other with some notable exceptions -- his daughter has the uncanny ability to become invisible and create impenetrable force fields at will; his son, Dash, can run at incredible speeds; his wife, Helen (Holly Hunter), is known in super circles as Elastigirl, one of the most respected (and pliable) superwomen of her time. Just when it looks as if things can't get any worse for Bob, he gets a summons to show up at a remote island to receive instructions for a highly classified assignment, which he promptly accepts. Thrust back into the world of fighting crime, the Incredible family is back in familiar territory -- saving the world from Syndrome, a jilted former fan of Mr. Incredible. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi

The Incredibles is one of my favorite Pixar films ever, and it gets an instant 5 stars from me. This review however will mostly focus on the steelbook as there are plenty of reviews regarding the plot and animation/film/sound quality. The steelbook contains a 4k and bluray discs as well as a digital code of the film. The steelbook itself is glossy, very brightly red, and it has a debossed title (which unfortunately makes the steelbook look rather sunk in around the title area :(, but this happens to a lot of steelbooks with debossed titles so it doesn't bother me anymore). The artwork is great and it captures the 60s era aesthetic quite nicely. (As a side note, the steelbook for the sequel seems to have a similar art style but it is shown inside the steelbook, not outside like this one). Hopefully BestBuy continue using a similar art style whenever the third film is released in about 15 years or so ;) (truthfully I hope we don't have to wait that long again). Get this steelbook to add to your collection if you haven't already. Disney films don't always go down in price, and usually the re-releases will only have the bluray disc only. Thanks for reading and hopefully this review helps in your purchase!

      One Of My Absolute Favorites

I don't know why, but The Incredibles has definately made my all-time favorite movies list! Maybe its the way the characters themselves come alive (the result of superior casting by PIXAR)? Maybe its the storyline that shows so much realistic circumstance and family warmth? Maybe its the oh-so-perfect score? I don't know for sure, but I do know one thing- I simply can't ignore a movie that has all these elements in one place! The movie just portrays each character so well that I can't help but feel for each and every one of them! From Violet's teenage angst to Bob's feelings of disposal, its all there and so easily relatable you'd almost think that they were your own (super) family! PIXAR's animation is once again at a new high with effects such as hair and water animations looking incredibly (no pun intended) real! The only glitch I've caught so far was during the dinner fight when Violet yells "you'll pay for that" with no lip motion just before rushing under the table to continue fighting her brother. Believe me, that came from HUNDREDS of times of watching the movie before I ever noticed it- such is PIXAR's level of attention to detail! Obviously, I cannot give The Incredibles enough praise so go out and buy it- you may not enjoy it as much as I have, but I KNOW you will enjoy it!

While the technology behind the animation has certainly aged, the style of this movie is timeless, and good storytelling always holds true. Despite the deluge of superhero movies that have come out since this movie was released, this still holds up extremely well. The 4K transfer is decent, though mastered from a 2K source, it's not as good as it could be. The disappointment is the audio mix on the 4K disc, which loses a lot of the bombastic bass of the mix from the original included blu-ray disc, in favor of a less aggressive overall tone. In that respect, the blu-ray is superior. This includes all of the special features from the previous blu-ray/dvd releases, as this set includes a 4K disc, and both blu-ray discs.

First off, this movie is a classic. If you haven't seen it you need to and the UHD blu ray really shines in animation films, this one being no exception. Now for some reason the first disc I got had a massive scratch on it and literally there was an entire minute missing from the movie when I tried to watch. It was strange because blu rays, especially UHD blu rays are supposed to be scratch resistant and basically never get scratched. Somehow I got the one in probably like 50 billion that came scratched. Anyways, this is more of a warning because Best Buy being as awesome as they are exchanged it for me no questions asked. Just check your disc before watching. I know I should have. Highly recommend this movie and 4k UHD blu rays in general.

This is one of the best super hero movies ever made! The Incredibles tells the exciting tale of a family of super heroes who must save the world from a would-be world conquerer. Along the way, they come together as a very close knit family. The animation is outstanding, as is to be expected from a PIXAR movie. Everything is expertly drawn and the animation is fluid and natural looking. All of the colors are bright and vibrant. This helps to make the many action scenes even more exciting. The Blu-Ray transfer is flawless. Everything is sharply defined and very clear. Yet another fantastic Blu-Ray from Disney. The second Blu-Ray is packed with extras on the making of the movie and includes the shorts 'Jack Jack Attack' where we see what happened to Kari the babysitter and 'Boundin'', the story of a lamb and a jackalope. The Incredibles is action packed and non-violent. And is the kind of movie you can watch over and over again. The perfect movie for all ages.

This is a great movie to begin with! Now Disney has re-released it in 4K and with a steelbook that looks really sweet. It also includes a digital copy of the movie (also in 4K) that you can redeem via MoviesAnywhere. Beware: You won't have access to the 4K version of the movie via iTunes or Apple TV (Disney currently doesn't allow for 4K streaming of ANY of their properties through Apple devices). The movie itself has held up quite well over the years, and Disney/Pixar doesn't skimp when it comes to remastering or updating the picture. If you are a fan of the Incredibles or Disney/Pixar in general then you should definitely pick this up!

It's kind of a bummer having to "rebuy" all my favorite movies as the technology improves, but in some cases it's okay-- This release and package was worth the wait! The case is just gorgeous, and the movie looks the best I've seen it since the theater. 4K is just stunning technology, and Disney handled this transfer beautifully. The extras package is very extensive--and of course the Jack-Jack short is worth owning this set for all by itself (it's a great lead in to the latest movie). This is one of my favorite Pixar films, so I'm thrilled it's gotten the treatment it deserved!

The Incredibles is one of the modern animation greats, yet I had not added it my collection until recently. Thankfully, the new Steelbook offers a very stylish way to add the film to one's shelf. Solidly built and brightly colored, the steelbook depicts the climactic battle in the style of the film's flashy end credits; inside, two Blu-ray discs (film + bonus features) and a 4K disc offer the film and possibly everything one could desire related to it. If you somehow haven't seen this film yet, SEE it; if you haven't BOUGHT it yet, this is the release to buy!
