Synopsis

The Italian Job
A team of high-class thieves avenge their mentor's death -- with the help of his own daughter -- in this big-budget remake of the 1969 British caper classic. The Italian Job stars Mark Wahlberg as Charlie, the mastermind of a daring Venice heist overseen by John (Donald Sutherland), a lifelong criminal who plans to retire from the fold with the earnings from his most recent take. Basking in the glow of a job well done at a secluded retreat in the Alps, the thieves -- including the aptly-named Handsome Rob (Jason Statham), tech-geek Lyle (Seth Green), and hearing-impaired quipster Left Ear (Mos Def) -- are ruthlessly double-crossed by one of their own, the taciturn, calculating Steve Frezelli (Edward Norton). Time passes and each member of the group finds himself pursuing other opportunities in the States, until Charlie rallies them together for a revenge-motivated scheme designed to bilk Steve of all his misbegotten earnings. In order to cinch the deal, he even enlists John's reluctant safecracking-prodigy daughter, Stella (Charlize Theron), for an elaborate, incognito Los Angeles heist. But the paranoid Steve proves himself to be one step ahead of them at just about every turn, and Charlie finds that he'll have to make some daring last-minute changes to their plan if the team is to succeed. The Italian Job marked director F. Gary Gray's second 2003 release after the Vin Diesel vehicle A Man Apart. ~ Michael Hastings, Rovi

Oh my gosh, you’ve seen the storyline done in several other movies but it’s not just repeating what’s been done in the past it’s improving on what’s been done in the past. With so many films out there and have been for centuries that it’s so hard to come up with a new idea that’s never been done, almost impossible. So at that point, the only you can do is improve on previous story, there’s nothing wrong with that. For me, this film get two thumbs up, this is one I would suggest everybody to watch good time all around fun.

All the actors did a great job. There are enough twists and turns to keep you from figuring everything out before it happens. The movie is kept from taking itself too seriously by some perfectly placed comedic lines. It's just a fun movie to watch. There isn't a lot of profanity. Most of the violence is in the first 15 minutes and then it's all about one actor trying to outwit the other. Just buy it, pop it in your Bluray player, sit back and enjoy!

The movie is great. Well known actors and actresses, good story and great scenes. This movie is 15 yrs old so the Blu Ray quality is not up to par as The Avengers or John Wick as it still has the sharpness of a DVD. If you can get over that all in all for the price it can't be beat

Main story is a bunch of friends with different skills (explosive expert, hacker, driver, leader, safe cracker) are going to steal some gold from a bad person. Its a well thought out story though from beginning to end, i dont want to give out to many details on the plot. All the actors do great jobs in this movie. And after watching this movie, youre going to want to go out and buy a MINI COOPER. I know i do.

This movie kicks butt. Marky Mark has turned out to be a pretty good actor, add in Edward Norton, Charlize & the Transporter, what more do you want? Maybe I'm pretty easy to please, but, this movie is pretty good. It's not ridiculous with the Hollywood stuff either. It's a little far fetched at times, but, not Charlies Angels: Full Throttle far-fetched. Blu-Ray looks amazing!

I thought The Italian Job was a very good movie. The first part of the movie which took place in Italy was one of the coolest scenes ever with an excellent boat chase through the canals of Venice. The Mini Cooper car chase was pretty cool too. The DVD is very nice with plenty of special features like deleted scenes and features on the car chases and stunts.
