Amazing show, fantastic plot, poor product

I watched the premier of The Last Airbender when it first came out and that show has held a special place in my heart ever since. While I was a little skeptical to watch The Legend of Korra fearing that the apes who directed and produced (and ruined!) the live-action movie might of had a hand in making the new show. Fortunately though the Legend of Korra was made by the same people who made the original show, and after finding that out I decided to give it a try. I can honestly say I have now found my favorite show. It is brilliantly directed, written and produced. The battles through-out the series are ten-fold to the battles of the original series. The plot line goes so, soo much deeper too, it is constantly twisting and changing leaving you at the edge of your chair wishing for more at the end of every episode. I can not wait for Book four to be released. Now, while I do give this product five starts because of the quality of the show I would give it only 2 stars for the product itself. I ordered both Books 1 & 2. The shipping container came damaged with a hole in it, Book 1 had a large crack on the back top right corner (which had nothing to do with the hole in the shipping container) and it was missing the sleeve that the DVD box was supposed to come inside of and both Books were slightly crushed. The discs themselves are in fine shape however so I am not entirely mad, just upset at the lack of care taken to protect the items I had ordered and the lack of attention paid to make sure the came as described.

This is certainly a worthy sequel to the original.

In a past review I wrote, I gave Book 1 of The Legend of Korra a 9/10. While it is a sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender, it doesn't just retread familiar territory. Instead, we are treated to another incredibly dense world set 70 years after the original series. However, as much as The Legend of Korra separates itself from Avatar: The Last Airbender, it still remains true to the overall mythos and even finds ways to include past characters from the previous series. The pacing could have been improved with the addition of more episodes in the season, which only has 12, and the romance aspect felt especially chaotic because of it. The visual and audio quality is unavoidably fantastic and it's an excellent compliment to the flawlessly choreographed action sequences and charming humor. If you're already a fan of Avatar, then you cannot miss out on The Legend of Korra and, if you haven't been introduced to the Avatar series, then it's time you picked this up and gave it a shot. This is pure entertainment for the entire family.

I am a huge fan of the original series (The Last Airbender) and this series is just as good if not better. The combat animation is superb and seeing how the world has advanced since the rule of the Fire Nation was broken and the families of characters you loved (or hated) moved on was a real joy. I also think the story may be a bit tighter and matches a bit of the darker tones of the last season of the Airbender. Thankfully the humor and really well done character building is still present in my opinion.

If you are a fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender, then this is a must watch. This show feels like a natural progression from the youthfulness of the previous series to the adolescence of this series. The action, comedy, and excellent storytelling is all there. While the romantic elements play very much to the high school audience, the overall maturity of the show is quite refreshing for western animation. I can't wait for the following season as an excellent base for the show has been established.

The first season was all right, if a bit rushed and steadily predictable. After hearing the creators say they wrote the season that way because they thought Legend of Korra would be a one-shot deal, the hurried and underdeveloped plot is understandable. There was so much potential in this first season, but unfortunately, it fell short. I'm hopeful the next book in Korra's journey will turn that around.

This is a great way to start the story after the last Avatar series. It introduces a new set of characters with a new "chaotic" storyline instead of the peaceful days of Avatar Aang. I love how they pop in stories of the old cast here and there to tie in the 2 series a little better. If you liked the 1st Avatar, give this one a chance, you'll grow to love it also.

Derived from one of the best animated television shows, ever, Avatar: The Last Air Bender, The Legend of Korra, continues that trend, and especially so in this DVD set, which contains extra footage, featurettes, and commentary to really help one understand what goes into making such a high quality show.

The legend of Korra is a sequel to avatar series which I watched with my family many times in a row. My kids and I and my husband watched the whole thing together and then we watched it again. We love the stories and the message is positive without being pedantic. A great show!
